As the owner of a lightly modded '77 930 who's driven a few high-horsepower LS 911's - this car will never have the transient response a flat6's low center of gravity gives, but the low rpm torque combined with unmatched rear wheel traction makes for a wicked fun car. Congrats.
@@NatoriousGamePlay Maybe billet. At that power level , a stock LS1 block is warping and flexing , eating bearings and head gaskets on the regular even if the block doesn't break. And that's just with drag strip stuff.
@@NickKautz I can't really comment outside of what I read/watch as I don't have the money to do building engines unfortunately. Kinda depends what you want, my 105 alfa wouldnt be better with a ls swap, it would be faster for sure but the engine is what makes the car. Old cars gain allot of personality from the variety of engines around at the time. I a;ways think if you want an ls powered car why not just buy a corvette.
@@felixarbable Im not an LS swap the world kinda guy, but I'm talking about air cooled VW vs LS . Torque is wayyyy cheaper with the LS. I appreciate well sorted Porsches all day, but bang for buck, fun per dollar in this exact case...bring on the turbos!

Some full throttle during the donuts would have eased my nerves a little. I thought it was almost going to be one of those Compton videos where they do donuts in intersections and nail the people filming, except this time I would have lost one of my favorite TH-cam channels !
I still want to see this thing and look it over! It's pretty much the only car I've been waiting for. Hopefully will be mostly sorted out for next season, I want to see it at the track next year!
911 964 turbo is my absolute DREAM CAR ! ill own one one day, just dont know what engine ill have in it. if money isn't a problem, somehow an s85 will power it .
It would be a better idea than an iron block V8 for sure... shorter engine, much lighter (especially with billet side housings)... and an awesome sound!
After seeing this car being driven hard, I'm in love!! Yall need to do a practical ls swap "do it all" build in an rx8. There are canbus solutions to make all the stock gauges work in them with an ls, and I know a guy that has some LS parts ;)
Just put in a shut off valve for that third radiator until summer, then open her up! Crazy car, how's that snap oversteer with the heavy LS in the rear? Lol. It'll surprise you, be careful guys! 👍😎
the suspension is definitely soft. it was bouncing all over during the donuts. That fireball was massive! The way those turbos spool is just... amazing!
The fronts aren't going away, you need to downshift and get more revs and stay on the throttle with 911s. Actually, people should do this with any car but the poorly located cg on 911s will make you pay for your mistakes. Otherwise they will reward good driving with precise cornering and good traction. I have plans for a NA 5.3l alu engine T56 transplant to a base model cayman. That's going to be killer track car.
Actually, they weren't going away really. It all boils down to the suspension being to soft. Getting on the throttle at apex just unloaded the front tires resulting in push
CanadaBud23 yeah I understand what your saying and I was really excited to watch the video as it’s a cool build. I was really disappointed for it to get to the first corner and then run into issues. I really like the speed academy content but this was pretty poor in my opinion.
You gotta start somewhere. If you've been watching the build you know that it's been slowly chugging along. Sure they could've shelved the footage but I'm glad to see the progress and it will be really awesome to come back and watch this video when Dan sorts out the suspension/tune.
I like the concept but I wouldn't continue driving after the first sign of rubbing. Looking forward to when it gets sorted but right now I can't stand to watch.
If the engine block was aluminium, it would solve some of the steering issue. Body roll is partly caused by the v8 raising the center of gravity. Definitely not a daily driver and not ready for the track either. Good luck sorting it all out!
What kind of conversion or mods are in the works for the front suspension? Just curious about the conversion. Sounds like a full day of allignment and a dyno session.
Well, yeah, I don't care! I love seeing people do their own thing. My old man doesn't keep his '69 Cobra Jet Torino stock either and I'm glad he has fun with it.
Danno is an amazing driver, his input on the steering wheel where very smooth, I noticed him not snapping the wheel back when he started to loose traction in the rear- this 911 is scary I love it! =^_^=

@@petrolhead8851 Except this isn't an LS, and it's an iron block.
Those turbos spool up FAST!!! He literally just barely touches the throttle and they start whistling.
That's the beauty of having less than a linear foot of turbo piping due to the rear engine setup lol
Turbo V8s are like that. They move so much air low in the the rev range.
Could you imagine it with flat shift enabled every gear hit would feel like punching naws. Assuming the haltech has that I know my megasquirt does :)
that's what you can accomplish with big displacement + boost.
That loud whistle usually happens at a low rpm well before boost comes in , from my experience.
proving the rule of thumb: suspension and brakes before V8's
It has 4 piston brembos up front but the suspension is soft as it was setup for drag racing originally
