Stefan, thank you so much for your sentiments and consideration. "R3's are a work of art" - so true! I think mine is one of only a handful remaining in Scotland. In the United Kingdom as a whole, there are only a few hundred RX-8's left. There is so much negative online comment on these remarkable and spirited vehicles, that I believe that only true enthusiasts have any true connection with them. You are most certainly a true enthusiast. Your care, diligence and hard work is evidence enough that these cars can have new life breathed into them with will and determination. Your videos should be compulsory viewing! Keep up the good work!.@@StefanMailey
Thanks! Car has been running great ever since. We did have to remove the catalytic converter and clean it out. Was clogged pretty bad. Besides that. My son has been daily driving it to school since September 10th. No issues. Thanks for watching!
That’s awesome! I actually replaced the 3 solenoids as well. I’m just in the middle of deleting the cat. I think it’s on its way out. Iv been running premix. Lol. Thanks for watching, brother!
Thanks a million! I really didn't show the oil change and installation of plugs, wires etc. Figured there was enough vids already out there! lol. Ill have a few more video's coming (mods) Just waiting for the weather... I appreciate you watching and thanks for the comments. Happy NewYear!
@@StefanMailey I'm glad the algorithm sent me your video! I previously owned a Series 1 Rx8 and I'm in the market to getting another. So I really appreciate you sharing your combing through getting one. It's a great reminder to Zero set all the important consumables and fluids when you get the car. Looking forward to seeing what else you plan on doing. Happy New year!!
I have the same exact rx8, outside and all... it's been sitting for almost 4 yrs now and idk what to do, mostly because of money and time... I just hope for the best for that car. It needs a rebuilt engine, and I don't have money for that because of how expensive most rotarys mostly are... this was a great video by the way, and I pray the my car can be on the road again🥲🥲🥲
Awesome little cars. I love the colour/interior on this car. If you keep your eyes open. You can sometimes find super cheap deals on RX8's that still have good motors. A lot of the time.. They just need ignition stuff and a new starter to get them going. Our wouldn't hot start. Until I changed the coolant. It's been running great for months now as my son's daily driver. Thanks for watching, super appreciate your comment!
Thats cool....im rebuilding a 2005 auto right now,i bought it that way....but want to build it. It's a silver one with good body and still has tire repair kit in trunk
Hang o to that tire repair kit! Tough to find. Cool thing to have. Iv never driven an auto before. I like shifting gears but they both handle the same. Sounds like you got a good one, brother! Cheers!
@StefanMailey thanks alot....it was close to me,and decent price...and so glad to own it. I had looked at a manual before, but missed out on that one...like manual best....but still auto will still handle great and can play with paddle shift sometimes. I still have the cat...but I don't have emission here...so could remove it if I wanted too....what do you recommend. only doing cooling and better oiling mods
That's a tough question. Depends on condition and miles on the engine. Im in Canada so it's different over here. You can pick one up a little cheaper if you have the intention on fixing it up. At least do the things shown in this video. Usually all those maintenance things are the reason people sell them. They just don't take care of the simple things. Shop around. Do your homework, etc. You'll find one!
A little. Really bad when you turned the heater fan on. I steam cleaned the interior and cleaned the entire fan system. Smells like a new car. It was stored in a barn style shed for a while.
Ehi , over the oil sensor ( left side of oil pan ) ther's a screw to take out ....This way you can take out all cooling fluid from entire engine block.
I did remove that bolt! I mentioned it a few times in the video. lol. You gotta get that bolt. Almost hold an extra 2 litres in that puppy! Cheers, brother!
It was pretty hefty. As far as fluids go. RedLine trans and diff oil was over 200$. 100$ for coolant. 75$ for oil and filter. 145$ for spark plugs. 200$ for coils and wires. I’m actually just about to do the brakes. They’re fine but car is going in for a safety. Oh, I replaced the tires too…
Lots of love and respect for this super video - from Scotland (2010 R-X8 R3 owner, former 2005 RX-8 owner).
I LOVE Scotland! Thanks, appreciate your comments! R3's are a work of art!

Good to see someone take good care of a sexy car.

Great work! I own an '03 Series 1, love the car. Good to see it getting the love it deserves.

Really appreciate this video! so helpful. I own a 2006 series 1 GS in toronto and it needs some work. We actually have the same cold air intake.

I gutted the cat. It was clogged pretty bad. Car runs way better and I'm able to run pre-mix in the fuel! It's worth doing.@@mokokawi
Nice work! Try to change the clutch pedal holder sooner.. it's another problem on rx8
It’s on my list. Lol. Thanks for the support!
this is my dream car, what's a reasonable price you should pay for it?

did the car smell when you got it ?

How much was the total cost of parts and fluids?
It was pretty hefty. As far as fluids go. RedLine trans and diff oil was over 200$. 100$ for coolant. 75$ for oil and filter. 145$ for spark plugs. 200$ for coils and wires. I’m actually just about to do the brakes. They’re fine but car is going in for a safety. Oh, I replaced the tires too…
