      ==========================

There’s no point blaming Ghazali. Those who blame Ghazali never read him. Otherwise they would not miss that Kant and Hume were taking a similar approach to philosophy from an agnostic approach. The principle of causality for instance. Which Ghazali wrote 700 years ago.
Al-Ghazali believed that the natural laws that govern the world are simply patterns that God has established and that God can choose to alter these patterns at any time. Therefore, in the occasionalist view, the laws of nature are not immutable, but are contingent on God's will.

✴This video is a testimony of confirmation bias. Khawarizmi (unknown creed) and Ibn al Haythm were the top Muslim scientists. Ibn al Haythm's creed was Ashariah, which opposes Mutazillah. He emphasized not preferring reason over revelation, criticized Greek writings that they just spread ikhtalaf, and advocated for the scientific method. same for Razi and ibn Khaladun. Also, Gazzali was against the metaphysical (branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of reality, existence, time, and god) approach of philosophers...However, he supported science and rationality. He belonged to the Ashariah school of Ilm Kalam, which promotes the use of reason alongside revelation. Al-Ghazali stated that the greatest crime against religion is opposing science, and he considered pursuing any science that can help the community to grow as Farze Kafayah. Drawing a parallel, the transgressed statement by the late Stephen Hawking," Philosophy is dead and we don't need it anymore " doesn't necessarily mean he was against rationality. The Scientific Revolution marked a shift from the medieval Aristotelian worldview to a more quantitative and mechanistic approach to understanding the natural world.

Absolutely fantastic presentation and summary. It is true that man is a limited being and perhaps can never know the absolute truth or the ultimate reality. However, the only faculties he has to his disposal are those or logic, reason, philosophy and rationality. Getting to the ultimate reality should not be his objective, because he cannot get to it (certainly not while being in a physical form at least). His objective should be to remain on a path of discovery towards this ultimate reality. And that comes through the use of logic and reason.

    A redressal to the Misconception
There is a common misconception among people (especially our Liberal and Secular brethren) who think that Ibn Rushd (May God mercy on him) was persecuted due to his subversion against traditional religious thought (unorthodoxy) and the dominance of rationalism and that he was an 'atheist philosopher'
While the reality of his persecution was purely due to personal and political reasons rather than religious reasons
Ibn e Rushd was a qadhi in Almohad caliphate .
Al mohad caliphate was founded by Ibn e Tumart a student of Imam Al Ghazali
Now didnt imam al ghazali who has being accused of being anti philosophy, his students weren't aware of his teachings ? Al mohads were known for their strictness and they allowed a Heretic philosopher to be qadhi for almost 40 years ? This doesn't make any sense and for almost 40 years the al mohads became anti philosophy suddenly and burnt his books ? If someone claims that the first rulers might not be aware of his works so that would just be a assumption because abdul momin bin ali the ruler of al mohads who ruled for 32 years used to call ibn e rushd and had philosophical discussions with him from the very start and even before ibn e rushd rose to prominence philosophers like ibn e tufail were already serving the court , the caliph himself asked ibn e tufail to translate Aristotle's works
The Al Mohads were very much into philosophy and theology themselves.
Abdul Momin established many institutions for philosophy and sciences and even took help of Ibn e Rushd which Ibn e Rushd discusses in his commentary on the work of Aristotle.
Al Mansur did ban the teaching of philosophy for sometime however he changed his mind and aborgaded the decision and even called back Ibn e Rushd.
Now let's see what really happens .
"And in the days of Ya'qub al-Mansur, Abu al-Walid Ibn Rushd faced strong opposition from him, for two reasons, one known and the other hidden. The hidden reason, which is the true one, is that when Ibn Rushd wrote a summary and commentary on Aristotle's book "The History of Animals," he wrote: "And I saw a giraffe in the garden of the Berber king." And in the same manner he would mention the king of any other region and people, because that is how writers typically do. But he forgot to take into account that those who serve the king should first praise him and observe his formal protocol. This greatly displeased the king, but he kept it to himself and did not show it, even though Abu al-Walid had written all of this with good intentions.
Then it happened that some of Abu al-Walid's enemies in Cordoba, who were jealous of him because of his knowledge and position and were always trying to humiliate him, went to the king Ya'qub al-Mansur and brought him some quotations from Abu al-Walid's own writings on ancient philosophy. They presented one of his passages out of context as follows: "This shows that Venus is one of the gods." The king summoned the governor and elders of Cordoba and asked Abu al-Walid in their presence: "Is this your writing?" Abu al-Walid denied it, so the king said: "May God curse whoever wrote this." And he ordered that Abu al-Walid be exiled and that all books of philosophy be collected and burned. And when I (the writer) was in Fez, I saw a very large number of books brought in on horses and burned.
(ʿAbd al-Wahid al-Marrākushī, al-Mūjib fī Talkhīṣ al-Akhbar al-Maghrib (The Pleasant Book in Summarizing the History of the West), p. 150-151 (1224))"
The passage begins by explaining that there were two reasons for Ibn Rushd's persecution. The first reason was that Ibn Rushd had written a passage in his commentary on Aristotle's "History of Animals" that mentioned a giraffe in the garden of the Berber king. This was considered to be a slight to the caliph, who was the Berber king.
The second reason for Ibn Rushd's persecution was that he had enemies who were jealous of his knowledge and position. These enemies went to the caliph and presented him with quotations from Ibn Rushd's writings on ancient philosophy that were taken out of context. The quotations were presented as evidence that Ibn Rushd was a heretic who was blasphemously equating Venus with one of the gods.
French orientalist ernest renan in his autobiography of ibn e rushd gives similar story where he says that in his commentary of republic ibn e rushd proclaimed superiority of his tribe over berbers this created unrest in the government thats why he was banned .
Majed fakhray in his book Averroes also agrees with the calling caliph Berber version of the story
In tabqat ul utba ibn usaybi says that ibn e rushd went to need the caliph daily and once called him akhi ( brother ) this made him angry and he also mentions the berber story
Sir thomas Arnold also says that what happened to ibn e rushd was due to political reasons .
The story that ibn e rushd was tortured because of Islam and he was a liberal atheist and mullahs hated him is rejected by researchers and historians , there were personal and political reasons he had to face almost a year exile and he was restored to his position after wards .
Now let's see how so called mullahs praised ibn e rushd in rijal books .

Ibn Tumart was not a student of al Ghazali. This is a saying that was spread by al Maqrizi, it does not have any proof to it and is quite late.
Also, ibn Rushd served as Qadi, which is unrelated to aqeedah. Granted he was not an "atheist philosophers" as some liberal wish to believe but deeply trying to be a muslim [with little success but that's a side issue].
He also was not maliki per say as your quotation gives, rather he gave rulings upon it as qadi.
Edit: to add onto ibn Tumart being a student of al Ghazali, what is most likely is that he studied under one of al Ghazali's students. The time lapse where ibn Tumart and al Ghazali could have met is at best a year and half, insufficient to transmit usul, let alone furu' in 'aqeedah

Al Ghazzali is not the only one who claimed that science cannot give absolute truth. If you study the epistemology of science and study the philosophy of science you would find that it also says the same thing. Because science presupposes naturalistic worldview instead of proving it.

You're doing amazing work! I'm also on a journey to align rationality and faith in my life.
    Question:
David Hume also proposes the idea that effects occur successively, and the first effect cannot be conclusively identified as the cause.
In my synthesis so far, Ghazali aimed to convey a similar idea by incorporating Allah into conversations instead of stifling rational thinking.
Perhaps, his theory of occasionalism has been misinterpreted by Muslims, offering an easy way out for them-hiding mistakes under the guise of fatalism or a predestined approach.
While Ghazali's theory of occasionalism may be correlated with the decline in Muslims' rational thought, it might not necessarily be the sole cause.
    What are your thoughts?

All these things don't matter today.
It is the result of suppressing rational thinking. Caliphs played a major role in suppressing these. Ottoman empire banned printing press stating it as invention of kuffar.
We can witness the state of Muslims today and their contribution to the scientific discoveries . How many noble prize winning scientists are Muslims? As compared to jews / Christians.
Loud speakers were considered haram, TV was considered haram, internet was considered haram. And everything became halal after few days? Only rational thinking can make Muslims to progress whether in filed of science and technology. geopolitics or any other aspect.
