    You know Hawaiian mac salad is made 100s of diiferent ways because of the different races in Hawaii. Many will say this is not Hawaiian mac salad becuse they think the salad should have milk mixed with the mayo and only with carrots, salt, pepper, green onions, vinegar and brown sugar, but hawaiian mac salad is like chop suey. Put anything you like in it and if you from Hawaii you can call it Hawaiian. Shaka Brah!

      Different ways to make Mac salad as there are many ethnic groups who migrated to Hawaii with their own macaroni salad concoctions. I make my mothers way. I made a lot. Shared with my German friends as I’m in the central Midwest, Minnesota. When I vacation back to Maui and or Oahu, I enjoy L&L’s Mac salad. BUT now seeing this recipe, I’m gonna make this. My mouth is watering!!! I’m glad I came across the ono recipe!!! Some ono!!!

    But OMG their Mac Salad (which I think had small pieces of potato in it) had me to my knees & their Katsu, was fire, unfortunately they closed and I was extremely saddened. But thank you for this recipe cause I was always trying to find something almost close to it.

    @Wendil67 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for sharing this! I'm making it right now and keep watching the video for ingredient amounts. I'm sure you do it to taste, but can you tell me amounts for the; kosher salt, black pepper and garlic powder? I'm tasting mine now and I'm afraid I eyeballed too much salt.

    • @hapahawaiianchef
      @hapahawaiianchef  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Wendil67, yes salt is to taste, but please remember that the mayo is salty in itself so if you see we hardly add any salt, pepper on the other hand can be as much as you like, black pepper adds a nice taste to mac salad and granulated garlic is just couple of pinches for our two pounds of pasta, you just want enough so people will wonder what that taste is without knowing it's garlic (hope that makes sense)... hope that helps a little and always remember with salt, you can always add more but you "cannot" remove... Stay Blessed and thank you for watching our videos... Aloha!

    • @hapahawaiianchef
      @hapahawaiianchef  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aloha D, if refrigerated well, (34-37F) 4 to 5 days will be fine, you might have to add more mayo everyday but it should be "servable", we have eaten for family meal well over a week old, as long as no one sticks their fingers in it or uses a dirty spoon you should be fine. In our restaurant settings though we make smaller batches every couple of days. Mahalo for the question and watching our video, stay Blessed... Aloha!

      You'd be surprised how many people are allergic to onion in the states. Basic is always best for restaurants that way everyone can enjoy it.

      Hi Annika, through out the video I have the ingredients but here is it, I used two pounds dry macaroni along with eggs but since I used very small eggs you can use at least eight large eggs, 1 small shredded carrot, pinch of granulated garlic, black pepper and salt to taste and best food mayo, try two cups first then adjust to your liking... hope that helps... stay Blessed... Aloha!

    Gotta smh at all the folks that want to change your recipe. You told 'em how you make it and they can experiment all they want, free country. Add anything. How about a can of fruit cocktail, some hot dog slices, jalapeños, pork & beans, pepperoni and crumbled potato chips on top.Ya never know....might be a winner.
