these photos turned out absolutely stunning. your (and your friends) ability to capture a moment and make the audience feel like we were there experiencing it with you, is so inspiring!
Nice trip! Film’s the only format that makes me feel like it’s Christmas morning every time I get a roll back (but sometimes you get coal when your images are messed up 😂)
The photos with the light leaks were by far my favorite! The fact that those effects can only happen on film and only by chance makes them special to my eyes. On top of that they now have a bit of an extra story. Of course I wouldn't want that happening all the time but definitely the best way for a mistake to turn out!
Great video Eric loved the part when you asked people to be nice it so important that people just chill and don't like life become one big opportunity for criticism. Nice job really enjoyed the whole video.
I have shot with so many different cameras over the years and you just never know what to expect. I shot with my 90 year old Kodak Anniversary Box Camera this fall and finally processed the film this week. Somehow the last inch of the film decide to fold itself over when it came on the take-up spool. These videos are fun and I enjoy your images and the story that goes with them!
beautiful photos!! I love shoot film anywhere.. i might not give me the best result like digital but it gives the best memory and best experience.. ❤️ thanks for sharing!
Ever since watching Free Solo I've been dying to visit Yosemite. This increased the motivation even more. Must book a trip by the end of the month. Thanks for the inspiration.
It's mind-blowing to stare El Capitan in the face and know that Alex climbed that thing in 3 hours with no ropes. There are just no words to describe it.
A manual wind 35mm camera, whether the most expensive Leica or the most pedestrian, old Canon or Konica, cannot rip the film from its spool in the supply cartridge. That takes careless and abusive misuse of the camera by its user.
I've had a great experience sending my M3 to Youxin Ye. It honestly wasn't that expensive and he turned it around in about a month. I don't know if that's helpful to tell you at all, but there you go. My recommendation on a repairman, for what it's worth.
Loved watching this episode. Great work, looked like you guys had an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing with. I returned to film and it’s teaching me so much.
Just seeing this. Hope you have sent your M6 in for a CLA. Sounds like it needs it having so many issues advancing and winding film and with the shutter.
A great journey. I always like images on 35mm with people in them, and really like the images of the journey and the people you shared the time with. It almost feels sometimes that the fine art landscape (no people/hand of man) is not the sweet spot of 35mm, but it's amazing that you made the trip and captured your experiences (and the landscape). Great video.
If you are nearing 36exp on your frame counter or have a mental note of how many frames youve shot, advance the film gently for the last shots, or discard a frame and wind back early to prevent ripping the roll if there is something whack with the camera ☺️
I have a little difference experience. I brought my Leica M6 with me on a roadtrip to Oregon. My Leica started to act up when I am at Mount Hood. It is kinda snowing there and my lightmeter reading is totally screwed up. All lightmeter reading are overexposed for 3-4 stops and I quickly realize something is not right. The cold temperature might be the hitting the battery. Luckily I have my digital camera with me to use as reference.
Congratulations on all the stellar work - all looked great to me (who cares?). I am concerned about your M6 - it should exhibit consistent performance regardless of conditions. Is there any chance your mid-roll troubles were from the film? Cheers from Canada.
Shutter is fading. The low shutter curtain tensions and speeds are sensitive to needing proper maintenance. It can't power through congealed lube. In cold weather the lube stiffens and doesn't travel. Time for CLA!
In my M3, I have had the film sprockets slip from the takeup spool, so I wasn't advancing the film at all the entire roll. Just exposed the first frame 36 times. I've also somehow managed to load a roll of film backwards into my M3. I've also shot 8 consecutive frames on my RB67 whilst forgetting to remove the darkslide (I now have a note taped to the back of it that reads: Take out the darkslide dummy). Try them apples, elitist film shooters.
I started this, my first view of this channel, because I'm a sucker for anything shot in Yosemete. After an initial excess of irrelevant B-roll in the dark, I stayed on to see what looked like three hipsters would do with very expensive cameras and lenses. What a found was a string of snapshots which barely constitute vacation pictures, and a lot of images damaged by camera failure. Finally, an editorial comment by the head user to the effect that he lived with his defective equipment because it was too expensive for him to get it fixed, and he apparently doesn't believe in regular, preventive maintenance. Although the user disclaims any interest in any comment critical of his practices or photography, I'll inflict this. Sell the Leica before you totally wreck it, and buy a Yashica T-class point-n-shoot, which will take the quality of photos you seek out with no trouble. It will give you a much higher success ratio, although you may have to give up your seat at the cool kids' table with your pals. As to your aversion to Leica maintenance costs, you have to know that there is a price list for Leica owners and a normal list for everyone else. Leica owners pay double because they have demonstrated that they see no relationship between cost and benefit.
film for me is 50% experience and 50% result. Digital is 10% experience and 90% result. much love, my friend. always my favorites of yours.
Totally. I love when light leaks happen, honestly hahaha
Really good way to put it honestly
Absolutely! It’s the process that makes it most fun for me
Digital is 99% post processing.
The experience alone is gold. What you get on film is a nice bonus of that archived memory.
these photos turned out absolutely stunning. your (and your friends) ability to capture a moment and make the audience feel like we were there experiencing it with you, is so inspiring!
Thanks so much, Alex!

yuuuuup - we gotta shoot sometime!

I had both the issues you did, shutter sticking, pulling the film out of the canister, it was due for a CLA. No issues since
I really like the pace of your videos. And I have a lot of good memories of Yosemite. Thanks for taking us with you! best regards from Austria!
I'm digging the light failure pictures sooo much! The mountain pink one. Uff. I'd buy it!
Those are without a doubt the craziest and coolest light leaks I’ve ever seen! Great video and photos dude
Thanks so much, Reimann!
Great video Eric loved the part when you asked people to be nice it so important that people just chill and don't like life become one big opportunity for criticism. Nice job really enjoyed the whole video.
You choose the best songs man! You’re truly a talented man.
Personally, I love the light leaks, great images. Yosemite is on my bucket list - hopefully this year will be the year!
the 28 voigt II is absolute fire

That just happened to me with my canon A1. did you ever figure out what it was I'm still trying to figure it out.
My M6 also ripped out my film from the spool when I shot in NYC. Ended up loving the results more just like you did!
the happiest of accidents :)

@@randallstewart175 Oh, Randall. Hope you're having a great day!

You're right, even with the imperfections, it is still a really cool album. Seeing the shots you guys got, the trip was an obvious success.
Thanks for watching, Zac!

Ready to go for round 2 next year?

Loved this. Living vicariously through this video.

What Squarehood is that for Voigtlander?
Weird question, but anybody know the name of the font he uses? Looks nice!

When I shoot film I accept and even invite mistakes. It adds to the uniqueness.
your pictures feel alot like ektachrome or kodachrome so much, they're beautiful
Eric, the light leak master
great vid, what's the song's name?
So, so beautiful! I feel like I fell in love! 😍
Love everything about this video! Been dreaming of going to Yosemite for years, you got any recommendations on the best places to stay?
We stayed in an Airbnb about 50 mins north of the valley and 25 mins to the park entrance. Definitely recommend that!

What's the name of the first song?
The songs in your videos are awesome
This one gives me goosbumps, can't wait to be back to yosemite after the travel ban for germans....

Agree, the light leaks are awesome.
🤝
Where’s the frick’n love button!!! Great work on the video and thanks for giving us all a bit of pseudo travel therapy ❤️.
Amazing photos and I definitely agree with those light steaks making those photos interesting! A happy accident! Loved the video! Subbed!
Font name for text on your thumbnail?
all about this series
Thanks dude 😊 encouraging coming from you 👊🏼
This is the dreaaaammmmm! 😍
Love the trip, but its the leggings for dude lol love the way the film came out!
The light leaks look sick
Just shot the Pacific Coast and Glacier on film in a roadtrip/overlanding video on my channel!! Making me start planning a trip out to Yosemite!!
My advice is your Leica M6 is due for a CLA.
Is that place where final part of "Free solo” documentary get shot?
El Capitan is the face that he climbed 🤘🏼 the crazy rock face behind Mike in that portrait I took of him 🤙🏼
I swear you are so unlucky with your m6, it seems like there's always an issue. Have you tried a CLA ?
Where are you based?
Chicago 👍🏼
Always wanted to go!
It wouldn’t be an Eric floberg video without his Leica malfunctioning 😄😖
🤦🏻♂️😂
Just because I didn’t edit this one doesn’t mean TH-cam can’t send me notifications 😔
I’ll FaceTime you next time and let you know it’s live I got you don’t worry

Hey Randall, @8:08
a lot of your pictures has massive chromatic aberration??
