I’m 71 years old and have created my own still images and video for my ranch brokerage business for 20 years now. As I begin to retire, I hope to use all this gear I have (mostly Lumix now) to create videos depicting the hard life on large Western ranches. I want to thank you for sharing your amazing creations. I’ll never be as good as you, at this point in my life. But as long as I am able I can work toward that goal. Thanks again. Jim in Oregon
Why can't you be good? This video highlights the simple fact that creative ingenuity supercedes gear. Or, put another way, how to use the gear you already have to answer creative questions. Unfortunately, the TH-camr camera influencer crowd has taught people to be better emotional consumers rather than better creators. What's being shared in this video is time-tested knowledge, experience, and trial and error that's been around longer than you have. He's not sharing anything new or breaking open new paradigms. He's simply sharing the correct knowledge, making a conscious decision not to sell out in favor of doing the artform it's due justice. You can not use your age as an excuse. I'm 51, and I've been creating since a child, I see no reason to stop now. Hurdles and setbacks, and shifting priorities are all part of life. I might as well see it all the way through it till the end. This is the attitude you must embody. An expansive one over a reductionist one. There is NOTHING a number that can inherently stop you unless you're in hospital on your death bed. JUST. START. CREATING. The more you do it, the more you give yourself the opportunity to fail, to learn, and to grow. I'm sorry, but all the gear in the world can't and won't give you that. It does a better job at making you poorer and more pretentious.
Please never change your stye, One of these days you are gonna blow up and gets millions of followers I just hope you don't give in to the hype trend and just continue and grow and experiment with this style because what you are doing is so unique and rare. You, your work, the team behind it, everything about this channel is so brilliant.
I've been watching camera and DP stuff videos on youtube for a very long time and your channel is by far the best one. Not even a close competitor. Are you still in Turkey or was it for a paid job? My god.. You are doing everything right in every single video.. As they say in the schools... "Show... Don't tell" .. what a channel!
As a fujifilm user, I look forward to every video you post. I am a simple man, I see it and I click it. I listen, take notes and apply. If I fail, I try again. Thanks for inspiring many of us @Ermia ! The fact that you used thypoch lens to do this is insane. It helps me to understand that it is not about the Gear, there are so many elements in Cinematography that needs to be explored. By the way can we clap for the Actress?! She is amazing in every shot, her acting conveys your narration so well. Every single detail is purposeful and masterfully done.
Cinematography was never about the camera. It was and properly still is about what's crafted in a very intentional way to evoke a reaction from the audience outside of the camera. Everything outside of this intention is videography. As a cinematographer, the words "run and gun" should never part your lips. There is no "run and gun" on a professional production, so if you aspire to create on that level, and I don't mean budget, you must think like a cinematographer instead of a videographer. Yes, a-list cinematographers hire expensive camera setups, but that's because they have the budget and incentives with rental houses and special relationships with camera brands. More importantly, crew to operate all of it. Most ppl don't have access to this. But we all have access to think like a cinematographer and use the tools available to us. Contrast. In your light layers, in your color, in your depth and in your visual metaphor. These are the things you should strive for in your frame. All, or a few, or just one. Videographers don't think like this. They point and shoot. This is why they want all the bells and whistles in a camera and 15678 stops of DR. They're trying to compensate for a lack of intention. If all of this sounds like a lot of effort, time, and energy, you are correct. There's no other way around it. It's possible then cinematography isn't for you.
I'm just absolutely stunned by your videos. The incredible amount of thought and preparation that go into these, not speaking of the insanely high quality of production. Just unbelievably good.
Creating a short film to breakdown the process of creating the short film the character in the short film is creating around them. Man. This is beautiful.
Ermia/mEria IMO this is the best approach when it comes to tutorials. Especially the part where you explain how you study and break down scenes, shots of other creators, is the most essential lesson to everyone out there. And info about your lighting setup is short and precise, not long and boring blah-blah. It's a matter of time before your videos are sponsored by the big names (no pun intended for Milanote which seems to be a precious tool I hadn't heard of). I don't want to congratulate you. I want to thank you.

💯 i always tell people that just starting and asking me what is the best camera to get. I tell them to learn lighting first. Your content, voiceover and the model/actress are a fantastic combo. She does such a great job with movement, expression and holding interest in each scene while the voiceover explains what you want the audience to know. I'm so glad I came across your channel. This is really going to help with my content's production value. Thank you.

This is so epic! Absolutely loved it. So much epic shots, lighting masterpiece and an excellent educational. Definitely a video to look back to for reference and refresher.
Great video, cleverly showing the story developing with amazing shots and folding in almost BTS type footage and thinking. Nicely done including the deleted scenes. Thank you, fab.
Contrast ratios. These create depth and direct the eye in a very intentional way. He could have shot all those scenes with no plan, with flat front facing light, with the same camera and it would look and more importantly feel completely different. There are far too many self-prescribed "cinematographers" on TH-cam that are actually just videographers with a few tricks up their sleeves. Maybe even some you follow. They know it, but also know others don't, so they get away with it. Some of these ppl have become ridiculously wealthy. This channel is giving you the actual goods. This channel actually deserves it's subs.
Would love if you can make a video about/shot with Lumix S5IIX and see the sort of results you can get out of it with V-log profile as it would be nice change from popular brands like Sony. Its getting a lot of attention recently, giving tips along the way showing color grade process in detail and LUTs applied. Love your videos, keep up the good work!!

Great video, cleverly showing the story developing with amazing shots and folding in almost BTS type footage and thinking. Nicely done including the deleted scenes. Thank you, fab.
You are a genius, with light etc. It all comes down to pattern recognition, and modulation. : )
I have been more inspired by you than pretty much any other channel on here.
My gosh each and every video is AMAZING!!!
I really love Milanote I just wish it had a better mobile app. Also this video is BEATIFUL!

Haha thanks Mehmet! I really like the atmosphere of the city!
Which softbox attachment did you use with the exterior night shots?

Would love if you can make a video about/shot with Lumix S5IIX and see the sort of results you can get out of it with V-log profile as it would be nice change from popular brands like Sony.
Its getting a lot of attention recently, giving tips along the way showing color grade process in detail and LUTs applied.
Love your videos, keep up the good work!!
I would love to test S5IIX but Panasonic doesn’t look very interested
We'll give you a round of applause 👏👏👏👏👏👏
How can you keep this up, wow. Thank you for being a true treasure to log in and watch.
thank you so much bud! Appreciate the kind words
I'm not sure what to say; the editing and cinematic skills were so great!
