  • Your ability to persuade and influence people to help you get the things you want in life is one of the most important skills you can develop. bit.ly/2kwDIqq
By learning how to persuade and influence people, you can achieve greater personal power and get more of the things you want faster than anything else you do in life. It can mean the difference between success and failure. It can guarantee your progress and enable you to use all of your other skills and abilities at the very highest level.

Hi Brian, thank you for your excellent video. Just yesterday I was trying to convince my director to progress my career within the practice with an higher salary and more responsibilities ( I am a senior architect). I told him the truth: I could bring more work to him. I have been doing an excellent job with small projects, we won more work because of them. The company could get even bigger project if I will be on charge for designing and completing on site multi storey buildings. He wanted to think about it. Thanks again for your inspiring videos!

Simply put, my method consists of bits of the following: a) Involvement of those in the development of the goal or plan b) Showing the others to be persuaded what's in it for me (WIIFM) c) Engage the team in open, constructive conversation (face to face I find best) to allow them to "arrive" at the decision themselves, that you are trying to implement.

I show people they will get what they want through me by asking questions that make it clear that I understand their needs. Then I communicate clearly and with enthusiasm exactly how we will get their goals accomplished together. It clearly is a team effort and we will all win when we work the plan!
The sincerity of my desire to help them is the most important aspect of persuasion in my experience. You have to really love humans and care about them!

You are so right persuasion is the holy grail of selling something. It’s takes lots of practice to go from a non persuasive person to a persuasive one. Thanks for the great video.

Make your goals seemingly aligned with theirs. That’s how you persuade people to do things for you or by helping them achieve their goals or by just being genuinely a nice person if you come to people for help in a genuine way not looking to get anything out of them, many people are willing to help you.

Thank you Bryan! Always really special to hear something from you.
I think showing the person you are leading that you both have common goals is a good way to get it. I also believe that bonding and personal cpntact are also really important, it shows that trust between both people matters and therefore every single person will be motivated to achieve the goals.

In order to do that, you have to know what they want

Hello, Brian. Thank you for the excellent video.
    To answer your question.
My belief is that, you accomplish this by using empathy, giving to others, balance and communication.
You show them how they can grow as an individual by joining you on your mission. For this, you need to study the person completely, what they are good at (their strengths), where they can improve and what drives them (money, social impact, recognition, etc.).
So, you balance it out (relationships are all about give and take), give the person what he/she wants (according to the resources you have available), communicate your vision and that's it. When you are on a mission it's not all about you as an individual, it's also about the people you work with. That's the difference between a leader and a manager.
I hope this answers your question.
I wish you all a great day.

  • @mahmoudkhattab1296

First of all, I give them the complete information about the task we should do, make a brainstorm with them to know the best way to achieve that goal and then start with why we are doing this task ? for example: because this task will help us reach our longterm goal , achieve our vision and improve our communications and technical wriring skills.
that will give them the passion to exert their efforts and we will achieve the task cooperatively.

    NOTES:
    What motivates people?
Most people have a desire for gain & a fear of loss.
When you can show a person how you can contribute to them gaining something by working w/ you to achieve your goal. Your power to persuade & influence people to help you using their energy & resources can help you leverage your goal.
Ask what can I contribute to make people gain something by making them help me achieve my goal?
Brian's final question: "How can you show other people that they can get what they want by helping you achieve your goals?"
    (What's in it for them?)
