I have been a golf turf mechanic for 15 years always had toro. I recently relocated to a new job all green and they use 2500b on the greens. I just can't get the cut perfect. Mowing at .150 and I just can't get it right!!!
This will work with a fresh grind after taper removal and a bedknife with uniform grind. However after the reel starts to wear. You will have to parallel the rollers on the john deere specified bench plate to compensate for taper. With a feeler guage you can parallel just as accurately with the bench plate and save some time as well
Is anyone else having problems with John Deere reels with the link system holding an accurate HOC? We've tried preloading the adjustment nut and everything else we can think of, including new parts. And no, we don't use impact drills for adjustment. If you have a solution, would really like to hear it.
Hey Stephen can you give me some advice having issues setting these qa5 units up. I'm not sure what's going on looks to me the bedknife attitude is either not enough or too much. When checking with hoc bar and digital angle guage most my units are set to 7 to 8 degrees. I'm cutting bent grass what is a good attitude for these mowers ?
Great video nice reels for the different adjustments . Just wished they could find a way to lock down the HOC adjustments . All my gear is checked after wash rack . Not very often or ever are they bang on after mowing . New build course sand capped wall to wall so it’s not as much the turf as it is the operator I find . 29 years experience total .20 as a tech
When you get new cutting units they are all over the board in regards to being parallel. Also they don't remain parallel after being out in the field. 10 years ago or so when the cutting units were welded frames parallel held up better. Now that we have alluminum frames that are bolted through there is more movement.
I have Toro units that have a major rocking to them. Only thing I can come up with is side plates are bent badly. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it ... By the way they toro DPA reels. For 3150s

Sounds like you need to get those units squared

What is your process for squaring the frame.that may be a helpful vid.
Steven any chance you can make a video of how to replace the reel on a QA5 and also how to parallel the QA5 when it is knocked out a square

what about rear roller brushes ? how do lock down rear roller without taking brush kits off reel ?
Bob have you tried locking it down from the front and just add a longer tip to your gauge to touch back roller? We don't use the brushes.
@@StephenTucker7 I was able to lock it down on top of the hoc adjusters . Worked out ok . Thanks for the reply
