    How does one know what kind of action they like on rod? I just use a generic 9ft, 5wt and I catch a good amount of fish on it, but I have no idea what the "action" is on it nor how that is measured.

    I just built my first “fly pole” and it is an amazing feeling catching a fish on it. Just like a fly you’ve tied yourself.

    This is for my 12 and 10 year old sons. They are huge fans and love to fly fish. It is for a salt water trip in Costa Rica. P.S. the only reason I know about this is because they watch you constantly and it's all I hear about.

    Built one before and glued cork segments together and then shaped the handle. Blisters! This looks much better!
