New follower. I have teaching experience and I did a fullstack bootcamp and worked as a front-end developer for a time. I'm now a stay at home mom looking to get into instructional design to kind of mix my two passions for technology and education. Your videos have been extremely helpful and I am really looking forward to your AI content. Thank you for all of the information and amazing resources.

You're welcome! Let me know what you think about the Intro to AI vid that went live today. And next week I'm posting one about how you can use AI to help you become an ID :D

I love watching your videos, Devlin. I’m currently teaching in the elementary setting but I just started my masters in ID and ed tech for adult learners. I’m upskilling and connecting with others in the ID world as I continue to explore my options for breaking into the field this year. My goals are forward thinking as I definitely want to finish the year with my students but I’m excited about what the future holds. I’m eager to learn more about how AI can support workflow in your coming videos and showcase that in my portfolio! Here’s to 2025! 🎉

I am a middle school teacher but I still love teaching. I am just looking to work as an ID part time because I found I am passionate about creating high quality engaging lessons but I still want to teach. I am researching and learning Storyline on my own and already created a course for my students for next semester. A friend of mine took your course and is now working in that field. I am looking forward to increasing my knowledge and skills with ID to create a portfolio and secure a contract position with a strong company in 2025.

That sounds like a great goal! And teaching has a lot of pros. I will say that I've seen many people come into the ID fold over the years looking for PT ID work and they wind up diving in FT, so you'll have to keep us posted on your journey :D. Best of luck and I hope we can help!

Knowing you are human helps us other humans accept ourselves too, Devlin! I like the talk video format. Thanks for being vulnerable and for all your hard work.

This is the Best News I have heard! I am so excited because I am also a nerd with AI technology for IDT. Love to add this to my portfolio. Bring it on CODE . . . :D I will be watching to see what I can do to support these goals.

Thanks for all your work dude! I been applying to learning experience designer roles over the holidays after I published my portfolio and updated my resume/linkedin because I am looking for the next phase in my career. Especially since the opportunities to grow in my current company are very limited 😂

I am seeking information on doctoral EdD programs that concentrate on instructional technology, with a particular emphasis on e-learning studies for adult education. If you have any recommendations for schools or specific programs that align with this focus, I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Thank you for taking the time to consider my inquiry!

I'm not entirely sure on that one! Good question though :D

Having dedicated over 15 years to the role of an instructional designer, I am now contemplating the next steps in my career. What opportunities should senior instructional designers explore at this stage? Should I consider venturing into freelancing, or are there other avenues I should investigate for professional growth and advancement?

Perhaps learning and development project management, corporate trainer, or executive coaching roles.

Good question! What aspects of the career appeal to you the most? You could look into management, consulting, or even a pivot into an aspect of the career that you like most (UX design / research, front-end development, data science / analysis, etc.). Or maybe even exploring new ID roles with responsibilities that speak to you (and could potentially pay more, too).
