    Damn, man, this is seriously impressive. Anyone can spend decades developing expert slight of hand and expert-level effects that only a very skilled niche of people can pull off, but what you did is actually a higher achievement.
    Not only did you create a profound effect, but the effect you created is extremely elegant, it practically does itself, and anybody can master it very quickly.
    *Simplicity is the cornerstone of brilliance* . It's easier for an expert to do expert-level stuff than it is for an anyone to generate methods that experts _and novices alike_ can master with such ease.
    Exceptional.

    • @KingstonCzajkowski
      @KingstonCzajkowski 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, the creator of this channel didn't create this effect. Oil and Water is a classic. It doesn't make it any less impressive - just know that it was originally developed by Ed Marlo.

      @@AMillionCardTricks I, too, came up with a move that I'd never seen before. When I showed it to several more experienced magicians, they had never seen it before, either. Like you, I was surprised that no one had ever thought of something so simple before. Unlike you, I am very proud to claim it for my own, however! LOL! Mine is a sleight, though, rather than a trick in itself.

    There is one subtlety you can add for this. When the cards are being pulled apart, there is a little sound of them sliding as they are pulled into different piles. What we can do is after spreading, take the blacks and reds in separate hands and strike them off each other to show the spectator while making the same sound as sliding apart. Thus, the sound is registered in the spectators head and they wont get suspicious when they hear it again.

    • @parkourandfreerunning4214
      @parkourandfreerunning4214 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry what do you mean? When do we do the strike?
      Do you mean when we show them the three cards red and three black cards, do we spread/ push over one card at the time with our left hand to our right hand while making the sliding sound, then squaring all 6 cards up and then showing the six cards again then do card switch and then do same thing when there are 8 cards?

    • @guzmas31
      @guzmas31 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is very important. I could notice the move from the initial performance and I believe it was because the sound hinted that to me the first time. Also, doing the same move three times makes it more likely that someone would catch it, so I wouldn't do it again.

    this is awesome. I actually had a thought regarding presentation. the spectator might get suspicious by the added movement of "checking the cards" to make sure they're good on the second go around. it might be smoother to do it for the first time as well, even if there's no sleight of hand, just for consistency! also instead of checking the cards, what if you blew on them for...maaagiiiccc purposes lol. thanks for the great trick!

    Thank you for my first Oil & Water trick. Very very cool and novice-graspable sleights, though personally I prefer the six-card presentation to the eight-card one, as the 'checking the separation' part at the end puts me off. But bro the six-card version is sweet as honey and I now have learned, practiced and added it to my repertoire. Thank you so very much, You rock! Oh - and instead of only showing the middle cards, I show every one of them that comes up in the right spot whilst just casually tossing the others onto the pile. By the time I'm done, it totally seems as if those cards have been alternating - if that makes any sense, 😆. You and MLT are my faves!

    First off, this is cool as hell. I'm happy to assume you found this out. Well done
    Secondly, I had an idea for this that might add a little more story and fun to it
    Do the 6 card part normally.
    Then when you do the 8 card part, point out how you're sort of adding more water and oil. Then when you come to the part before showing them, just actually show them the cards with 1 red and 1 black out of place, and say something like "hmm it must need a little more time to separate since we added more water and oil", and then you can do another card trick or something while you're waiting for it to "separate" then come back and finish.

      Don’t worry, that just means you need to practice the timing of the switch more. You were probably doing it too early, therefore he caught the switch. My advice is to do it quickly, but only switch the cards when the cards line up with the spectator’s eyes. In that short moment when they only see the edges of the cards, that’s when you do the switch!
