How did Eloise not go to jail for almost stabbing homegirl in the face?
White girl privilege
I think its because they think she is crazy, or white girl privilege LOL.
Plot hole
I thought she would be kicked out of school atleast, but maybe her love interest convinced her
She wouldn’t have gone to jail, it would have been a psychiatric institution as she was objectively having a psychotic breakdown 😬I work in the mental health field, and he behaviour was indicative of this. Which is why the cops asked if anyone in her family were schizophrenics
I wasn't too fond of the ending. We have the plottwist of Alexandra wanting to poison Ellie, which leaves you shocked. Alexandra stabs John, goes after Ellie on the stairs, all giving you the impression she is this evil woman who kills mercilessly. And then in about 3 seconds Ellie makes up with Sandie again? They even hug. The poison somehow no longer affects her, and the guy that's been stabbed in the stomach and has been breathing in smoke is still alive. It felt way too rushed and like the writers had to wrap it up. Which sucks, because I was so engaged in the story up until that point.
Explain why they show the girl dying and than it turn out to be the old lady like wtf ? Did the ghost trick her ?
I wasn't very fond of the ending either...and that's putting it lightly. Fairly surprising though-it-may-have-been, it was an absolute mess. From a visual standpoint the stair crawling scene nearly made up for the narrative nonsense, but not quite. I LOVE Edgar Wright as a filmmaker, but I feel as though he may have hit his peak with Scott Pilgrim. His two films since have been high-concept yet low-delivery.
i love the plot twist and the storyline but i feel like they could’ve done a better explanation to it.
I agree i hated the ending but loved the movie as a whole
@@eduardocod8924 it was a metaphor
There’s so many clues that the old Lady was Sandy, that I remembered in hindsight and I’m sure you would realize many more when rewatching:
- The old lady mentions the smell in the summer - this is likely because of the dead bodies in the wall
- The old lady also says she could never sell the house (because of memories). That’s because as soon as there would be some refurbishment done, someone would likely find the dead bodies.
- The lady mentioned other women left the flat overnight. This might be because others got similar visions or found out she was hiding something.
- The Policeman Leslie said “Tell Sandy she brought it on herself”, indicating that she was still alive.
I'm with you on all of them but the last one....he said "Whatever hell you meet Alex in..." so it could imply he thought she was talking to Sandie in death.
I just watched the movie and I think this video misses some weird potholes.
1. Where did her hickey come from after her first halucination/dream?
2. What happend to the sedative that was in the tea she drinks in the finale?
I was wondering about the hickey too!
i was also a little confused on that cause when she woke up with the hickey, i understood that as the film setting the rule that what happens to sandy, happens to eloise so wouldn’t eloise of known sandy wasn’t stabbed considering she herself wasn’t stabbed?
@@catherinelopezlopez4570 if you hold somebody usually with at least one hand it would leave a hand mark, not just a half finger.
Also the guy gets stabbed to almost death but miraculously makes it out alive to see the fashion show. I have the idea that maybe she really just imagined all this or it was part hallucinations. I'd have to rewatch it again but yes the guy who reviews this video explains the plot but not in any details or anything surprising,
I think she threw up while she was going up the stairs
The film is visually amazing, but in terms of plot and storyline it has a lot of holes and forced situations that never seem natural. So, for me, it wasn't as good as it could have been.
This film was absolutely amazing. I don’t watch tv/movies but this one caught my eye.
I'd check out Edgar Wright's other work too.
I really enjoyed this movie too! 🙂
Anya Taylor-Joy "Caught" *ALL* Of Our Eyes!
@@aretnap3653 she sure did!!!
I dont eat mexican food, but taco bell is amazing
I noticed the flashing light outside her bedroom only flashes red when she has visions
Yeah and it's a 'red light' for ladies of the night in the past and a bistro one in the present. Pretty clever.
Yeah when I watched as soon as a saw that the sign shines through I knew it would mean something
Good point. The vibe definitely turns.
Movie started really strong and was visually stunning, but by the end I couldn’t help thinking that without Anya Taylor Joy and those visuals, it would’ve been another cgi ghost story a la Haunting of Bly Manor etc. And it did get derivative in the final act.
But Bly Manor was good🤨🤨
The ending was the weakest part of the movie but overall I liked it. The people I watched it with believe Ellie had schizophrenia because of the family illness but I don't think the movie suggests that. It makes me wonder though if her mom also could see the dead too and just couldn't live with that or was killed by some ghosts.
You’re right, the mom had the gift and I think she killed herself because of the intense visions she could not get help from. Ellie could only see her mom because she was like her guardian angel and was protecting her from other spirits until she was in the room with so much tragedy she couldn’t be there.
Just got back from viewing this at cinema. I liked the film. Nice to see Wright do something totally different
I’d like to think the ending was fake. We had seen her on drugs and her visions be manipulated because of it perhaps her being poisoned made her think she escaped and had a great career when in reality she never escaped at all and died alongside Sandie. I would much rather prefer that ending than the one we got :/
What your thinking is not true. You got the ending you got. Spoil your thought with this. Just like her mother visits, now so does Alexandria, or atleast that 1 time. If what you said is true she never left America. Drugs came when in London.
Feels like this would've been a great way to have another movie with alternate endings. I've read about a movie that would randomly show alternating endings in theatres, people would discuss it at work/school and have arguments about how it ended. They'd figure out that there were different versions being shown in cinemas. Imagine if we had a couple of those with this movie, would be crazy! Everyone would think they're as crazy as Ellie lol
lmao what. it’s a pretty forward ending
@@steph.li3 doesn’t mean it was good
When sandy tried to stab ellie on stairs ellie got injured in her hands just like how sandy got her’s when she commited her first murder ,they are connected somehow!!’.
Still dont know why is it because ellie’s mom was a victim too , cause lindsy mentioned many times that he knew her , and ellie said that she doesnt know her father. 🤷🏽♂️
Honestly as a scouser myself, it was amazing to see Cilla have such a feature in this movie (and in a positive light too rather than a 'shady scouser' trope). The soundtrack was stunning.
Yeah it was so cool! Nice to see more of the UK represented.
LOVED this movie! Edgar created something really unique with this one and I really appreciate the visuals and sound editing on this!:)
I NEVER thought Sandy was still alive, let alone a murderer!
I just did a whole reaction to the movie on my channel and would more than appreciate any watches!:)
As someone with DID, this movie was extremely relatable, and I'm willing to posit that Ellie was having a plural breakdown from the heightened stress
this movie has been twisted be critics to fit a certain roll and to get frustrated at what they didnt uncover in the movie but I think the movie explains enough of itself. Edgar knew what he was doing by giving the audience only a certain amount of information of the background of Eloise and hr mothers story. Its sandie's story, Eloise is just as much of the audience as we are in my opinion. When you view it like that, the story s portrayed so well and I give this a very very high rating.
This movie was brilliant. Awesome to see Edgar do something really different. The ending works completely as Ellie is still sympathetic towards Sandy after imagining everything she went through. Yall have to stop taking the visions literally. Its never explained because its apart of the movie its like magic. Just watch the movie again or sum
There is a fore-shadowing line from the landlady when Elloise asks about the house;
"I got it for a song."
Brilliant!
Please can someone explain to me why Ellie saw Sandy due even though it didn't happen. I'm mind boggled.
5:57 - 7:03
The visions are not entirely reliable-- Ellie's visions are a series of disjointed and disconnected images, sounds, feelings, and impressions, and not literal recreations of the past.
@@51918 Well if your referring to Sandy getting stabbed remember that in that night the other girls put something in Ellie’s drink so her visions weren’t reliable and were disjointed.
@@maforo85 so they did do that 😳
She didn't see her die, she just thought she did. There's a ton of movies where people are grappling and a shot is fired and you see the faces and time freezes as you try to figure who got shot. Like Ghost for example. She saw the strangling and fighting, then the blood covering sa die. It was his blood but she assumed it was Sandies as they show later, same grappling but a different angle. The light dies in her eyes too... as if a part of her has died. Her innocence maybe. She's someone else now
How eli got the hickey
Frankly the change of Sandie from good girl to killer was too sad.
How did Ellie got a scar on her neck if she is just dreaming
Because it wasn't just a dream
@@Xactreplica how?😲
Just watched the movie. Edgar Wright doesn't go wrong
Isn't Jocasta also one of Patsy's airhead friends in Absolutely Fabulous, which mirrored the 60s and fashion theme here.
I was really surprised at how good this movie was! The ending made me ponder at first, and then I realized it was a twist on the “Me too” movement. But instead of the men being the perpetrators, it was Sadie, standing up for herself (and women) and taking the “me too” movement into her own narrative. That’s why Sandie and Ellie hugged at the end. They were bonding over how not to be the victim of a man, but rather the in-powering of a woman. Brilliant.
JoJo Rabbit it what I recognized her from. The whole movie I was thinking to myself, where do I know her from, her voice in particular. I googled it... lol
I don't get why the ghosts didn't show Ellie that Alex was the one murdering them. Why was she only seeing a fake vision making the woman a victim
Because they weren't in co trol. She was being haunted by the old Sandie and saw the story from her eyes. Hence the mirror sequences
Why did they show the girl getting kill when it never really happen ? I don’t get it did the ghost try to trick her ?
She had been drugged that night, so her visions weren’t accurate
@@asharooni They did a HORRIBLE job portraying that she was drugged. Wasn't she getting ready to have sex at that point.
@@motjon I mean when a “mean girl” in a movie gives the girl she hates a drink, and then again hinted at by the officers asking if she’d been drugged, then her having a flashback of that scene, I think it’s kind of presumed that the drinks were drugged, without flat out saying they were.
@@motjon yes they drugged which is why her inhibitions were down and she acted foggy. You're probably picturing sedatives maybe... there are a ton of drugs out there you may just not be aware of them and their effects
It didn't show her getting killed. You saw her covered in blood... then assume it's his, and later it shows the same fight from the side and you see its his blood that ends up on her neck and chest
I absolutely hated Ellie. Her character was unbearable. lol
At the start the old lady/sandy mentions the smell gets bad in the summer referring to the body's in the walls and floor small detail I noticed was a bit sus
Any reason to why Lindsay (the cop from the 60s) (deceased in present movie time) wasn’t credited but also was shown to be connected to each other but never identified properly?
to make the audience believe that he is jack (it's a mind game) and also the reason why sam claflin (young Lindsay) is also not credited by name. If they had put his name on the credits the audience would know it was a different character
Is the Cafe De Paris the Strictly come Dancing set?
this movie legit scared me sometimes lol
I wasn't sure about this film until the last 20 minutes!! Now I feel like it was amazing!!! One of 2021s best
Brilliant film and I thought I’d not like spooked films but I loved the twists and turns. Worth watching👍
I saw it yesterday, and I liked the movie.
Loved this film! Great British showing 👌 👍 👏
Great Video! you definitely deserve more views on this :)
Thank you!
It seems they put so much work into the visuals that the writing fell through a bit 😅
incredible summary without any analysis.
Insightful. or the opposite of that.
The movie is great the ending over complicates itself which hurts it but still a great and original story
Its not compicated at all during the end.
The ending is pretty simple if you ask me
@@friedrice7876 think about your average movie goer that got confused and devastated by infinity war then show them this movie you don't think they're not going to get confused?
@@williamcarswell3012 well if they're dumb then yes. The ending is so simple, The old woman in a twist ends up being Sandy, simple as that
I don't get the title soho is in New York but this takes place in Britain
Just finished the movie, it was amazing my best movie of the year so far! Was such a good movie, very enjoyable and worth a watch, definitely buy on blu-ray
What do you mean history hasn't been kind to Baby Driver & it's cast? (I don't know about this.)
The ending was totally messed up, very badly handled.
One suggestion is more visuals in these videos.
First horor movie I've watched in the cinema, pretty cool 👍
What do you mean history has not been kind to Baby Driver?
just watched the movie, the first hour of it made no sense.
The ending ruined the movie but it was really good until then
What do you mean by the baby drive cast. Didn’t fair too well
This must be the first time I come to one of these site because I was a bit confuse on the ending. At the beginning when the girl saw the vision I thought it was her at a older age but at the end it was the old lady story. I will watch it again later love the story very weird
Where was Jack in the present?
Dead
Sandie stabbed him remember ?
Jack died. Sandy had killed him
What is wrong with baby driver ?
It's really boring barley any action at all such a disappointment
Why not kind to baby driver?

Movie was sick but the cast have been naughty boys allegedly.
what a great scary movie.
There’s a double edged sword watching this on an edible. you see every twist coming, but man are you confused after all of what’s unloaded in the last thirty mins
All i imagined when hearing jocasta was jocasta nu from star wars😂, i hate that jocasta was from manchester, bitch us mancs look bad🙄
I thought soho was in Korea or something lol
Who needs the ending explained ffs?
You evidently as you’d clicked the video
Sorry, why does this film need 'explaining'? It's hardly complicated. I'd rather examine this reviewer's strange enunciation and almost Monty Python affectations. Is his delivery deliberately 'hauntological'?
Touch grass.
Surely deciding to watch a review on youtube means you needed some sort of explanation no?🤣
but dont you have any questions you wanted answered? theres some plot holes that came to my mind
@@iunnoo Not really. So many films have ellipses in their plots, and are essentially narrative and personality-driven, imho. This is one of them - I did't find the characters particularly interesting and their back stories were pretty non-existent. There is a section above called "plot ending, twists and clues explained", That might answer your questions.
