some very sleuthy sibuna members have correctly pointed out that the school is called “amun academic boarding school”- i see your deep knowledge of the house of anubis lore and i raise you this heinous piece of trivia: the first time that name was ever mentioned or revealed was in a house of anubis trivia game on the teen nick website - meaning that not only was it never named in the show, but it was revealed as if it was some kind of bonus easter egg or mystery or something LMFAO 😭😭😭
See this makes me wonder if every house of Amun has a different soap opera themed around a different Egyptian deity going on. I wanna know about the penis search going on at Osiris House and the slumber parties going on at Hathor House
I just googled it, the books were published in 2012, there are 3 books, "the eye of Horus", "the cup of ankh" and "the mask of Anubis" I'm definitely going to check them out
As a House of Anubis absolute nerd, Victor's official title is "caretaker," he and Trudy both have rooms in the house, there are ghosts (season 2 victor's dad), Victor is only 96 (give or take a few years), Nina being the "chosen one" is basically the main plot and has to do with her birthday and birth time 07/07/95 at 7 AM which is why they thought it was joy who was born 07/07/95 at 7 PM which is "not the true 7th hour" while Nina's birth time is. It was prophesied that the next chosen one would be born the 7th hour of the 7th day of the 7th month just like Sarah was born on the 1st hour of the 1st day of the first month which is why the code was 11 01 01 19 15. 11 being her numerology number, and her birthday being 01/01/1915. When Alfie made random sounds it wasn't alluding to a language barrier or that Nina was originally written as a foreigner. In a prior scene Alfie theorized that because Joy disappeared just as Nina arrived that she was actually an alien taking her place. No underlying motive, just really random and strange dialogue. There's alottttt of cringe moments in this show, however, it STILL hits to this day lolll I still love it.
Not only that, but when they talk about every episode ending on a cliffhanger and beginning like it's the second half of the previous episode is a classic move in soap operas and telenovelas
It was. It came on daily in the US (until I think the third season when they decided it would be a 2hr episode on Friday). Every episode was a cliffhanger and the special effects were awful but it was quality entertainment for a kid
cant believe you didnt mention Senkhara. Literal ancient demon that wanted to possess Nina it made me shit my pants at the time, I remember watching anubis alone at night on the living room and then imagining her in the dark it was traumatizing
and the fact that she told Nina "your punishment will be to punish" making everything that Nina said a life sentence to her friends ruining their lives... Damn, that was a villiain.
person from england here! can confirm the house situation is a not-america thing. it's a dorm, not off campus housing, its owned by the school who assign the students to these dorms that are in a bunch of different houses instead of a giant dorm building (probs because it's such an old school so all these houses are on the property but too old/historic to knock down and build on). because all the kids are under 18, they're not allowed to live on their own without adult supervision so that's why victor and trudy are there. trudy is the house mother, she lives in the house and has her own room in the show, and is basically just there to look after the kids. victor is the "caretaker of the house" so he's p much in charge of everything that goes on in the house, doing all the admin stuff, fixing anything that goes wrong, enforcing rules (and detentions/groundings) and making the decisions (which is why he had the authority to fire trudy). he's still employed by the school so that's why he was at the show. tl:dr - anubis house is part of the school as a dorm house, victor and trudy are employed by the school but victor has seniority
as an American this always made complete sense to me as a kid and I fully understood it lol the only thing I thought was weird and knew was made up for tv was the fact that it was co-ed
@Kirstiefae it depends on the school! since the house is pretty old I assume they need someone there the whole time, but a lot of newer boarding schools will just have a housemother per dorm that all report to one caretaker (at least in my experience, I can't speak for every boarding house lol)
Very interesting to me as someone who did not go to school in England but attends university there. At uni we don’t have a housemother but the uni does provide people to clean our flats multiple times a week and considerably older adults do live on campus to watch over us and help us in case of issues.
Also another fun fact: the guy that played Fabian revealed a few years ago that he had to constantly dye his hair brown while filming, because his hair started going gray at like 11
Yeah I feel bad cuz I can’t rewatch it cuz I can’t handle the bad acting but still have the memories so videos like these bring me back to my childhood.
this show had a irreversible effect on my brain chemistry as a child and it filled the mythology void that finishing the percy jackson series left in me
Patricia and Amber are everything, they’re such an slay. And the sentence “It’s ten o’clock, you have five minutes precisely, then I want to hear a pen drop”? Iconic!
As a dutch person, het huis anubis (the og version) was the actual sht and very popular. They even had their own amusement park attraction... very camp very very iconic :3
yeah het huis anubis was much better than hosue of anubis, and it was massive, with even getting movies and board games and stuff, even years later i still think het huis anubis was one of the best shows i watched when i was a kid (im flemish btw)
That's so cool, had no idea it was that big. After a while Nickelodeon started playing House of Anubis in early ours. It's rare to catch it on t.v. i'm in England btw
I watched this in sixth grade and was so obsessed. Eugene Simon, who played Jerome, came to a convention where I live and I went to get his autograph and a pic because of hoa but everyone else was there for his role in Game of Thrones. No one else knew wtf hoa was
@@megan-mr9vk he was really sweet! he honestly didnt make a big deal out of it and treated me like everyone else, answered my panel questions about the show etc, but he seemed to enjoy talking about GoT more. it makes sense since it had been a minute since he did hoa but yeah! he was really friendly and kind!
my favorite part of this show is the fact that the "mysterious" sound effects are the same that buzzfeed unsolved used. just immediately takes me out of the suspense i love it
at 13 i followed ALL the actors on twitter and fabian followed me back after i ASKED HIM TO. i had all of his songs on itunes and cried when i realized i couldn’t marry him
fun fact: I'm pretty sure mick got a 'sports scholarship' because the actor who played him was busy filming another iconic British kids show. Its called wolf's blood and its this twilight type show where 'mick' is a loner werewolf lol
I GENUINELY have not clicked on a video SO fast in my life!!! Look, at 23 years old I"m STILL obsessed with this show, but I will say that one girl in high school that hated me for watching it was right LMFAO. also we don't talk about S3, I pretend I do not see
as a British person, who went to secondary school in England, those lockers are EXACTLY what our lockers looked like. ours were about half the size so that one column was 2 lockers length wise if that makes sense but they defo looked exactly like that
i saw this video and clicked at the speed of light because i also rarely meet anyone who watched this but for some reason the line that goes something like "justin bieber? no, it was just a beaver" i think delivered by amber is just a part of my vocabulary. i was also incredibly obsessed with this show as a child. no one ever understands me.
victor is a house master, my american school had them. they’re basically the owner of the house who enforces rules and make sure students are following honor codes, etc. make sure lights are out, students are keeping up with studies, basic landlord-type house projects, etc.
he also works as “protection” in the basic patriarchal notion of “man in house = safe”. and is supposed to be a mediator in disagreements between students. he also enforces punishment so that can be “grounding”, limited social interaction, timed bathroom use, etc.
For information. In the Dutch version Nienke (Nina in the English version) isn't an exchange student, she just Dutch and stats living in the house because her grandmother (with who she lived with) moves in to an elderly home and thus she gets put in a house for teens. In the Dutch version the house also isn't connected to the school.
I haven't seen the dutch version as a whole, but I did watch the first episodes subtitled and it makes more sense, like the grandma moving to an Elderly home and there is where she meets Sarah, while visiting her grandma, instead of just getting a random scholarship to a boarding school across the globe and meeting Sarah outside the house, after she scaped an elderly home.
this show was an absolute fever dream but did that stop me from thoroughly absorbing it into my psyche and entire being while it was on air? absolutely not. p.s. i had the biggest crush on fabian and if you say you didn't you are L Y I N G👏🏾
SAME i remember being so jealous every time he and nina would flirt or just have any romantic interaction that i would look away from the tv until the next scene lmaooo
This was my family’s favorite show. My entire family would gather in the living room every week to watch this show. Out of all the entertainment we could have indulged in; House of Anubis is what we chose.
@@LivTheSlayeryep he was ridian in wolfblood- the actress for willow from season 3 was also Sharron in wolfblood and Tom was in sex education. That show had a lot of crossover multiverse potential

This made me extremely confused, because as a Flemish person, Het Huis Anubis is a cultural milestone. To hear it has an English language remake is revolutionary and frankly absurd to me. I love it
nina is basically just a clairvoyant like some kind of demi-god who can commune with the dead also yes we have confirmation that gods are real bc in s3/the movie we have seen both ra's powers and an egyptian evil devil monsters power zombifying them and enslaving them and also there is eddie who is literally like a demi-god called the osirian who is like the great great great great x like 1500 grand child of osiris and isis who can see visions of the future i can go on if need be.
House of Anubis is originally a dutch/belgian series. The story line is mostly the same but with some twist in the English version. In Belgium this series was everything in 2008-2010. If you start an original song now in a room filled with people from the age of 18 to 25 everyone will know it
Grew up in the states, got obsessed with it, completely wiped it from my memory, and then moved to Belgium and got this recommended to me. Coincidence? I think not!
This show was definitely a fever dream, I remember being SO invested in it. My sister and I took it SERIOUSLY we would discuss every episode and every detail, as if some illuminati conspiracy was going on. ICONIC And what a great video!! You are a queen I hope you keep doing more videos like this
Hey! I vivdly remember it being revealed that Victor is not actually hundreds of years old and that his father was the former groundskeeper/caretaker of the house. The reason why the characters initially *think* that Victor is centuries old is because they find a black and white photo of him and his father, but the father is played by the same adult actor (Francis Magee) as the son. To add to the confusion, Victor the son was also named after his father!
The dutch/Belgian was a whole culture movement here in the Netherlands. People had HoA bags shirts, pencases, lunch boxes eand even more😂 It was so popular we got multiple movies, musicals and even a spin-off show. The spin-off also took place in the house of anubis but was based on Celtic mythology like Merlin and druids
mann I still have an anubis bag, lunch box, pencase, bedsheet alongside several dvd's, board games, puzzles and actual games, books and collector cards. Even for the spin off I got several merchandise because I loved the shows so much! I'm genuinely surprised at how much merch they made for this show lmao
my school bag used to be this shows merch until it got worn out too bad. man it was the most popular thing for a while.. untill i lost the plot and stopped watching in the later seasons.

everything about house of anubis is genuinely so perfect, like 11 years later i'm still rewatching it once a month *also the school was calling the Amun Academic Boarding School
before I clicked I went "oh my god someone else remembers House of Anubis", I was completely addicted to it as a kid, I watched it with my grandma since it was on right before her Novelas started (which we also watched together) and it felt like the best mystery ever made. Recently I rewatched it and it made me crack up: the terrible acting, the plot that doesn't know where it's going, the freestyle mythology, it was awesome, 10/10 still love it. But it also shook me because since I was a kid I thought the actress who plays Nina was Brazilian (because her name sounded Brazilian) and when I went to google her to see what she has done I discovered that she's from SPAIN????? NOT EVEN LATINA? THE BETRAYAL. But I'm glad someone else remembers the show (there's still a strong fanbase here in Brazil, they preserved all the episodes and made it possible for me to watch, but I haven't seen any video analysis about it until now)
You literally have to do a mike’s mic inspired wall and string retelling of the plot. This was amazing and I want more! I watched at least the first season back in the day, What did Nina leave at one point and then there was a new chosen one?
YAS LEGEND! FINALLY SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS SHOW! LOVED YOUR VIDEO!! I wish it would've been 5 hours longer and you had explained the plot of every single episode + fun facts about the show like Quinton Reviews does but I get that you probably have a life. Seeing Micks face in this, it started itching ANOTHER “did this show actually happen??” spot in my brain. And he is (the actor) actually one of the main characters in another show I was obsessed with called Wolfblood and it was such a fever dream you need to watch Edit: omfg it’s free on TH-cam and I need to watch all of it right now
I recognised him in this video as well! I could personally never forget about the existence of Wolfblood because it was my entire personality when I was like 6
11:20 That’s the point. The things that made me hooked were it was a soap opera format, and that I’m the same age as the kids are in 2010-2013 when it takes place. I graduated high school the year that the finale movie was aired. Literally, just 30 days previously
this show took up so much of my brain it's absolutely absurd. I remember every single piece of tea, drama, and intrigue. Literally a piece of national history where's her Oscar, where's her Emmy, where's her GRAMMY? argue with a wall.
im not from an english speaking country, and though i love the dub that ive watched as a kid, you just made me realize how much funnier this show seem to be bc of the english accent!!!! like i almost cried when i heard mara and amber's accent, its soooo hilarious!!
I watched it in Spanish originally and never realized they made such a big deal of Nina being American because her accent was distinctly different from everyone else's
I literally thought Nina’s actor was British and they had her do an American accent because that’s how she says her lines like an awful American accent even though she’s literally American 💀
I was so invested in this show when I was younger. Especially season two. The show felt very mature then but looking back on it now, it was kinda silly
Hi there! German Nickelodeon made their own version of House of Anubis with a German cast and German setting. It was a very important part of my childhood. The only character name that they kept was Nina Martins. The plot is the same but eg Nina came to the house of Anubis bc her parents died and her granny send her there. The other kids that lived in the house had each reasons why they lived there. It was not a boarding school but rather a home for children that had to live near their school while their parents lived somewhere else. Netflix has the first season (although idk if it’s only here in Germany) If you liked House of Anubis you should definitely check out the German version!!!
I remember this show being like the launch into my hyper fixation on mythology, I genuinely did not remember a lot of the plot but it constantly has lingered in the back of my head
This series was buried deep DEEP down in my subconscious so thanks for prying out the memories of being obsessed with HOA. If you do want to do a part two then I think it would blow up.
This was my favorite show as a kid and I still periodically watch it and that explains so much about me. This show made me passionate about egyptian mythology which has turned into a passion for egyptian architecture, since that's my major. In other words, House of Anubis has inspired my professional career, don't think about that too deeply
When I was in middle school my bff and I would meet in the library before school to discuss the latest episodes of this show like it had some intricate mysteries to solve lol. This show is definitely a comfort for me like sometimes when I'm sick I'll rewatch it.

I will tell you as someone who’s lived in England my entire life, I’ve played cricket at school (PE) one time. I’ve played basketball countless times (although I suck at it) cricket is more of a posh/old people thing
@@faeadams4966 As someone who went to a British boarding school for 2.5 years it was all about the rugby and cricket. And boarding schools tend to be attended primarily by posh people, which is why they play them.
Aaaaa this show!! I won tickets to the season 2 premier in london and it's such a core memory. The cast were so so lovely and they set up this whole theatrical scavenger hunt for all us lil kids there it was so fun!!
Omg, for me this kind of "I don't know if I really watched it or did I make it all up" show is Wolfblood. I watched it as a child and recently my sister and I remembered about it and started to watch it again. It's so funny and iconic to watch this type of acting, especially because we watch it with Polish dubbing which is just the most cringe/funniest thing in the world. I also did watch few episodes of House of Anubis back then, not enough to know what the plot was really about, but I totally belive how nostalgic and funny it is to watch it now.
As a Brit with boarding school friends, let me explain the living/employment situation The kids would be living in a school sanctioned building just off the school campus. Trudy and Victor would be employed by the school It would also be set up similarly to a foster home where Trudy and Victor are employed six days a week/4 days on 4 off, something of the like, and they would sleep on site to keep an eye on the kids Victor is a caretaker, who is there to help the upkeep of the house and assist Trudy in practical things (like fixing the sink idk) The kids would live there all of term time and the adults have to be on shift to look after them Which explains why there's no separation between school and home because its all under the school Also as for Mick's scholarship, American summers start around a month to six weeks before ours so him leaving during term time would make sense Hope that helps!!
the only part of House of Anubis I remember is Alfie getting on the cover of a foot magazine because Amber said she'd only date a model (maybe even specified that they had to be in the cover of a magazine?)
I cannot tell you how validating this video is, I was OBSESSED with House of Anubis at a way too old age and I don't think anyone apart from my weary sister has heard of it.
I JUST FOUND THIS ACCOUNT THROUGH THIS VIDEO AND I AM DYING OF LAUGHTERR!!! PLEASE NEVER GIVE UP, THE EDITING, THE COMMENTARY, ALL OF IT IS SO WELL DONE!!!! KEEEP GOING YOUR GONNA GO BIG, THIS HARD WORK WILL PAY OFF!!
The thing is though, they didn't cut the episodes off so people could come back a week later to find out what happens next, but they actually filmed everyday and everyday they released small 10 minute episodes. So, on some places like Amazon Prime, you can see that 1 full episode has 2 titles to it, because it was stitched together. It was also the first (and maybe only) Nick show to be filmed overseas and Nick's first (and only to my knowledge) soap opera . The best thing was they also released Anubis Unlocked so the cast can interact with the fans. If I'm correct, they opened fan mail and answer questions and recapped the episodes for that week. I'm still watching the video and don't know if you mentioned all of this, but oh well.😅
in my memory, house of annubis is the most perfect iconic piece of art in the world. when I tried to rewatch episode 1 as an adult... I was devastated to realize I was wrong 🥲
I made House of Anubis my entire personality when it was originally airing-also I thought you’d like to know that Jerome is also Lancel Lannister in Game of Thrones, so….there’s that
When I saw Jerome on Game of Thrones season one his acting was so bad. Then he came back with Sparrows and the Faith Militants all buff with better acting I swooned.
Francis McKee (Victor in HOA) is also in like 3 episodes and dies very quickly trying to defend Arya. I was obsessed with this show so when I went into GOT seeing these actors?? I was dying
A lot of people also forget the Touchstone of Ra TV special that happened. Not gonna lie I LOVED that movie (technically not a move but I’m just gonna call it that). Everybody was graduating and without the pointless school stuff we just got to see everyone having fun!

Hello - British person here. Anubis House is actually an on campus dorm (or just House as it called in England. Dorms are the individual rooms in the House). Anubis house belongs to the school and has dorm parents (Trudy and Victor) who help take care of the kids. Trudy is the Nanny and Victor is the Head of House (why he could fire Trudy).

As soon as you showed a clip I thought there was something so familiar about the filming style and set decorations, so I paused to go google and I was right!
No because actually same i’m hardly ever scarred but i was terrified
Omg!! You just unlocked a memory in brain
bruh. senkhara was just DIABOLICAL
Coz she comes in s2
and the fact that she told Nina "your punishment will be to punish" making everything that Nina said a life sentence to her friends ruining their lives...
Thanks for explaining this, it’s exactly what I came to the comments for lol. Does the caretaker traditionally live in the house as well?
@Kirstiefae it depends on the school! since the house is pretty old I assume they need someone there the whole time, but a lot of newer boarding schools will just have a housemother per dorm that all report to one caretaker (at least in my experience, I can't speak for every boarding house lol)
Very interesting to me as someone who did not go to school in England but attends university there. At uni we don’t have a housemother but the uni does provide people to clean our flats multiple times a week and considerably older adults do live on campus to watch over us and help us in case of issues.
@@emilykate0835 agreed. I am still confused why they even bother keeping it co-ed

That sounds awesome! I could see this show being a cool escape room.

victor is a house master, my american school had them. they’re basically the owner of the house who enforces rules and make sure students are following honor codes, etc. make sure lights are out, students are keeping up with studies, basic landlord-type house projects, etc.
he also works as “protection” in the basic patriarchal notion of “man in house = safe”. and is supposed to be a mediator in disagreements between students. he also enforces punishment so that can be “grounding”, limited social interaction, timed bathroom use, etc.
@@sarinhafaarte ironic, since places are sacred without men lol
Its the same in the germam version!
@@patax144they probably just changed it because they wanted it to appeal to American audiences so they made her American.

House of Anubis is originally a dutch/belgian series. The story line is mostly the same but with some twist in the English version. In Belgium this series was everything in 2008-2010. If you start an original song now in a room filled with people from the age of 18 to 25 everyone will know it

And what a great video!!
He's still 95 years olf.....so.....it's still impressive

Netflix has the first season (although idk if it’s only here in Germany)
If you liked House of Anubis you should definitely check out the German version!!!

Het Huis Anubis (the original Dutch/Belgian version) was my personality as a kid. I still binge it every year lol, it’s so damn good
As a Brit with boarding school friends, let me explain the living/employment situation
The kids would be living in a school sanctioned building just off the school campus. Trudy and Victor would be employed by the school
It would also be set up similarly to a foster home where Trudy and Victor are employed six days a week/4 days on 4 off, something of the like, and they would sleep on site to keep an eye on the kids
Victor is a caretaker, who is there to help the upkeep of the house and assist Trudy in practical things (like fixing the sink idk)
The kids would live there all of term time and the adults have to be on shift to look after them
Which explains why there's no separation between school and home because its all under the school
Also as for Mick's scholarship, American summers start around a month to six weeks before ours so him leaving during term time would make sense
Hope that helps!!
the only part of House of Anubis I remember is Alfie getting on the cover of a foot magazine because Amber said she'd only date a model (maybe even specified that they had to be in the cover of a magazine?)

@@Heyitsann REALLL season 3 was so bad i choose to gaslight myself into thinking it didn't actually happen
I ended up watching wolfblood because of the actor who played mick 😭
I never watched this show, but I saw the ads for it on TV as a kid and they always intrigued me (which is why I click on this video, so I could satisfy my childhood curiosity). As soon as you showed a clip I thought there was something so familiar about the filming style and set decorations, so I paused to go google and I was right! The show was funded by Nickelodeon but it was produced in Liverpool by Lime Pictures. Lime is most well known for making the popular soap opera Hollyoaks, and these two shows seem to have an almost identical filming style. They definitely use the same cameras and I'm pretty sure I recognise costume and set pieces.
I used to LOVEEEEE House of Anubis as a kid and I'm glad someone else was as confused and fascinated with it.
