It's largely directed at blind followers on social media and elsewhere, another song that implores people to think for themselves. The first line says "the sun is your enemy today", and in the second verse Pau plays the true disciple and repeats back "the sun is my enemy today". They always have smart lyrics. Filmed in the blast furnace museum in Monterrey, Mexico.
Very cool! And I like that it's open for interpretations with what the meaning of the sun is.
This is the very song which made me listen to The Warning a year ago. I never stopped.

The video was shot in the Blast Furnace Museum in the Foundry Park of Monterrey, MX. Members of The Warning Army were the extras. The song is about the dangers of falling for false idologies on the social media. It takes both sides of the conversation. One side warns of the dangers. The other wants to tear down the system to make their belief system the norm.

I saw that look when Pau was singing about swimming with the fishes until they drown, if you want to see an perfect example of how she can really stir emotions with her vocals check out Revenant, the live version at CDMX is great, but I really prefer the lyric video, they are able to add the little touches with guitar and base that hard to project in a live setting. I imagine them sitting down to work on the harmonies and adding the liight touches of their instraments in the perfect moments .

The song is about people getting all their info from MSM and blindly believing and following whatever is spewed out. So much so that they could say the sun is our enemy today, keep repeating it and people will believe it. It's a great song with a powerful message.

Great reaction Roni, it’s a really great song with some lyrics that are very much open to interpretation. Can’t wait for the next one - Revenant (live from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX) would show you the softer more soulful side of them, definitely a must if you like them!

This is a great song (of course it is, TW does not make anything else). One of the guards is the mother of The Warning and some of the people standing are TWA (The Warning Army). This is a cool video too and like every Video of TW it is high quality. One of my favorite songs and I love watching it several times a week. Great reaction from you.

Another excellent reaction, dressed in a more Metal look (it looks beautiful, I have to say), a great sense of humor and with one of the songs that sounds much more powerful live, by The Warning. There is a behind the scenes video of them recording this album in the studio. There was a shot of Dany recording the lyrics to Disciple dressed in a bunny onsey with the rabbit ear hood pulled up on her head. A sharp contrast to the military uniform in the video.

For something different and totally mind-blowing, I'd recommend giving this a go - Kasey Chambers version of Eminem's "Lose Yourself". She spent her time in covid lock-down re-imagining this after having such a connection to the song and being a fan herself.
Not only is it a great experience to watch/listen, but you'll no doubt endear yourself to more Aussie fans & subscribers.

I find I'm enjoying The Warning the more I listen to them. As others have said, their lyrics are intelligent....make some social statements yet leaves enough open for interpretation as to not really alienate the opinions of most. Just enough to get you thinking without being over the top preachy like some activist artists seem to fall into.

Hmm.. great song, I do like their level of irony in the 2 performances i have seen, the message is simple but its not really about the message, it's like an old anti establishment punk/Glam Rock vibe. Rock on... 🪨🎶🎸

Every one of us follows an ideology or a narrative to some degree.
It’s in our DNA as human beings essentially because we are highly evolved pack animals capable of easily bonding with almost anything.
That being said, my take on the song is not so much a “Warning” on being part of a group but carefully choosing which group you essentially belong to based on the best information you have available to you.
If you blindly follow along with said narrative then you open yourself up to the potential pitfalls that could apply that you may have been easily able to avoid if you were more informed.
Truly being a free thinker is growing increasingly harder in todays society and in some cases is actually being discouraged.
It’s basically a never ending well of pertinent song ideas for a band that is very much in tune with the dangers of modern society.
It’s an irony that I don’t think is lost on TW because they are very much the benefactors of part of modern society which would be social media while understanding the dangers it could present as a whole.
That is very interesting. The point you're making I mean. I didn't see this to that lever when hearing it for the first time.
And I like the idea of free thinkers, and hope that I am one (or at least will be). I think it's part of the struggles that I personally am going through with my life. Some sort of growth - awakening.

The one thing I don't like about The Warning's fanbase is that they attack anybody that gives constructive criticism. That's basically reflective of our current society's general immaturity, but still it kind of pisses me off. Thanks for the reaction vid Roni.
Thank you for mentioning it! I didn't notice it yet from that particular fanbase to be honest, but I would not be surprised if every fanbase has a few people who are not open to a debate or a conversation.
So far, on this channel, besides a few minor hiccups, it's been a very nice ride. So... I'm gratefully for that.
