Hey Mr Gonein60, love your Mustang FB work. I think we’re fellow Tennesseans. I live near Manchester and I’m work on converting my ‘67 Coupe to a FB. It’s as you say “rusty as a grubbing hoe”, but I plan on doing a lot of sheet metal replacement. Your videos have given me inspiration… Keep doing what you’re doing. Dan
I have watched this several times as I have 2 69' to do. I just thought of a question. How would you address the difference in A pillar post length and slope degree? I have heard / read they are very different. Keep em coming sir. 👍👍
@GranjersGarage on a 69-70coupe to fastback you have to cut a slit in the windshield post right above and in line with the top edge of the door. I then use a fastback front roof brace and use a fast back windshield to help me determine how much of the post to cut out. Fastback is tad shorter and the post lays in more on each side. The slits you cut in the lower windshield post helps to lay post over. It sounds complicated but it's super easy.
While you're at it, I would like a hatchback. (annular reinforcement of the opening, lips of the opening ,join the window and the lid)...ultimately not easy
When installing the drip rail Does it need to be 2”-1/2 to the wind lace From the back to the cowl? I got 2”-1/2 at the back and it shrinks down to 2”1/4 as it gets to cowl I pushed it tight to the wind lace. And I had to grind it a little in the middle On the window pillar
@Crafttime316 you are correct. The windshield post is curved and drips are stamped straight. You did right grinding material off in order to get a better fit
@johncorcoran38 I try to get everything through dynacorn. When I can't I'll use classic industries for now on. No more cj pony parts. They ship out bent parts. I'm in middle tn
Hello. I ordered the interior trunk divider brace like you show on 1:48:00+-. Mine comes with a bracket, i'm assuming connects to the hinges, like a stopper for the trunk lid, but mine only had one bracket. In your video I can see the same bracket at the bottom of the box but can't see if it is one bracket for each side or just one. Do you know if it should be 1 or 2 bracket? Thank you!!
If you use the coupe rear seat area it's super simple. If you go with the fastback style seat and rear metal panel that trunk hinges bolt to you will have to hand make the corner transitions on the inner structure. It's not hard. Easy
I'm debating doing the conversion on my 67 Coupe or getting the quarters and trunk drop offs repaired. I know you do this work for customers, what do you charge for the entire conversion including parts/materials, not including the interior because I would want to source the interior parts back to the original fold down seat that would have come in a factory fastback. Having the vehicle delivered to your address of course. I'd have the rear glass and door glass shipped with it. Just want to drive it away and worry about finishing the interior later and getting it painted immediately.
@mikeseldomridge8052 because after building probably 60 or more fastbacks I realized bracing them up is useless and actually hinders me from being able to jack up or lower the rear frame rails into place. Over time these cars sag or twist or have been involved in accidents.
Have you ever done a 69 coupe to fastback conversion? I'm in the process of replacing sheet metal on mine but there's 3 pieces I can't find so I might have to do the conversion process in the end. I can't find the rear quarter panel end caps the weld to the quarter panel, tail light panel, and truck panel for either side and can't find the piece that is at the bottom of the rear window that goes to the trunk. Also the rear deck panel under the rear window I can't find and it's rusted out also.
@jasonmanes3862 yes I've done a few. Most parts suppliers sell the parts you mentioned. I know cj pony does. I wouldn't buy sheetmeta like quarters or roof from them though. The small stuff you could get from them though.
@@MrGonein60 I've even called multiple mustang parts dealers and no one has those parts for the coupe. Found them for the 68 and before coupe but not the 69/70. They all have the parts for the fastback though.😢 With going your route, what's the total cost to do the swap, parts and labor?
@JohnMoncada-z2b alot of people will tell you to brace it. I don't because 99 percent of the time I have to put a jack under the rear frame rails and jack them up until fastback quarters and roof skin fit properly

I've got a real fastback setting here and a coupe conversion setting next to it. The coupe is more comfortable. Yes top of head is close to rear window. Setting in fastback your knees are tooked in and your basically setting on the floor. Ive never had adults setting in the rear of my cars either. I guess it's all in what a person is wanting.
