After the quality of the songs this must be the 2nd most important part of being a good band. Probably the reason why it took me ages to like the Stone Roses... Ian Brown being incapable of singing 2 notes together in key. I can't've been the only one who hated them when they first came out.
One of the greatest songs that define an era. Not enough plaudits for it.... Sheer brilliance. Skelly's effort in this song is remarkable. Shades of Ian Curtis.
I've been a fan since 2002. I remember walking up one night back in the day, finding it hard to sleep, and I turned on the telly, and there they were on Jools Holland. I live in Sweden, so there were not that many tv-shows from England at that time that you could see on tv. What a great coincidence 😁
Agree, the animals I always thought were overlooked by the stones or the Beatles, look at war film and you'll just hear the animals either start the film to get you , into that mindset @@TheGBs1972
@@Timekeeper1200 One of the best bands out there hands down and Charlie Simpson is a genius so hate on them all you like. Have you even listened to them?
This band opened so many doors for a lot of people to get record deals in Liverpool 😎… … and probably still do… and I dabble in a bit of producing myself as a hobby… I’m pretty sure James produced one of Blossoms album… defo born with the music gene that lad haha
So was Bill. Done film scores , produced all kinds of artists albums including another Scouse great Michael Heads’ Can compose and not too shabby on the guitar 😂.
I first heard this fun song as a short clip on a TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) commercial years ago on tv and it took me ages to track it down, but I couldn’t get that short clip out of my head. The original video is hilarious! Still liking the song in 2022!
Just checked out some of your stuff.. Grey Cloud is a tune - check out my band Hope Mountain on Spotify... we're from the same neck of the woods as you (NWest)
Is it true this is about drug addiction? It's such a belter of a tune, like all of the best, it's simple but so much greater than the sum of it's parts.
I'd highly doubt it. Unlike Lee mavers, I don't think James Skelly or any of the band were addicted to any drugs. To me it's like There she goes by the la's in the sense that people have given it a drug meaning when's its most likely about a women.
Just pure class. The Coral always felt like a stonkin 90's band to me but were actually keeping the early noughties music scene listenable in a sea of crap around at the time.
Clearly a band that didn't have the appraisal they deserved
This song was top 10 most played on British radio in 2002 I believe.
I love it when a band actually sound as good live as they do in the recordings!
Saw them live in Nottingham 2003 I would say they sounded better live than recorded

Sounds more like Lee Mavers from The La's.
I can’t see the Ian Curtis similarities.
Ian Curtis was just depressing as fuck
@@liamthomas2494 that's right. With depression coincidentally. A brutal illness.
@@stagumphswasn't nice to see him on stage though was it, think you've got to be suicidal to enjoy joy division.

Incredible live band. Skellys vocals are top drawer. Tight band. Great musicians.
Not heard this in ages. I forgot how instant and urgent it is! A short shot in the arm. What a tune.
Great name
Urgent is the perfect noun ❤
What a fantastic song, and that vocal wouldn't have been out of place on a Northern Soul classic
Shades of 60's soul ....brilliant
Sounds like Eric Burden to me

The best band to come from the UK in the last 25 years by a long long mile
Piss off 😂
Their good but come on now 😂 Better then; Muse, Coldplay, Biffy Clyro, Fightstar, Kasabian etc...just to name a few I don't know if I'd go that far!

Absolutely brilliant. Incredibly underrated band.
If I only ever did one thing in my life…to have been involved in a tune like this would be enough for me.
