Shows how many swings it takes to get lightning in a bottle. It's very expensive to develop until you get a "hit game". They should cherish War Thunder more instead of milking the players dry.
Wings Of Prey is not just a game for me, it's my childhood. (Also when you are playing on arcade mode you have kinda of an aimbot mode that automatically hits critical parts on the enemy aircraft)
Dmitri Puchkov wasn't a dev in Gaijin, he just provided his voice over. He is notorious in Russia for parody movie translations he made, including LoTR.

Aside from the campagn, there was also a bunch of side missions that felt very unique. I set it up with a Saitek X-45 and went full advanced controls. It totally changed the campaign and made it much more challenging. Most fun I've ever had beating a game.
Birds of Steel gives me so much nostalgia because I've probably got 200 hours in it when I only had an Xbox360, it was so much fun to fly and is the reason I've actually gone for the OS2U I did not expect that quote
so Gaijin has always had cool replay cams, and problems with balancing game play and end game content. Good to know. But seriously, this does make me appreciate war thunder a little more
Apache Air Assault hanger is an actual room the US usses to test full sized and functional vehicles and quipment. More specifically their electromagnetic emmissions and behaviour when hit with simulations of things.
Bimmer was referenced in a few episodes of the shooting range a few years back. Someone suggested adding horns to war thunder and Bruce said, "what next, a separate button for jumping?"
As I reflect on my experience of growing up playing Birds of Steel and witnessing its evolution into War Thunder, I can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at how far it has come. It's almost as if I have watched a child grow up before my very eyes, witnessing their journey from innocence to maturity, and it is truly a beautiful thing to behold. From the humble beginnings of World War II-era planes to the modern fighters of today, War Thunder's growth is a testament to the power of human creativity and innovation, and I am grateful to have been a part of its journey.
Woah! Was really surprised to see Apache Air Assault here. I remember playing that one on PS3 quite a bit along with IL2 Sturmovik. Little did he know it would crush my soul in the future as it lead to me being a avid warthunder player.

Hey ,love the vid ;) . Fun fact - I use to play IL-2 Sturmovic ON PC back in my Air Force academy days in Poland (around 2012 we found love for it). Me and my friends would play it hours on end whenever we had free time on our hands. Multiplayer functioned etc. But my point is - as you noticed I mentioned IL-2 being a PC game... Apparently that's the title it was released as by Gaijin for polish market :D . I just checked, it still works just fine, no issues and I just flipped my F-4U corsair because I tried to take off with immediately slamming full throttle... Any who thanks for vid, had a great laugh at some of those games you showed, true gems XD

God this video brought me to my childhood growing up in Kazakhstan surprisingly, even not knowing it was from the same game company, I got my hands on some of these in one way or the other. Бумер (Bumer/Bimmer) I got by exchanging games back when I was still in early middle school (haven't beaten one of the car shootout parts and gave up). Adrenalin: Extreme Show was a must-play game for a kid who loved Flat Out , spent hundreds of hours in it. (I had to sneak this in without the knowledge of my parents because of the "hot babes" in the racing game) Most of these I at least heard of or "trial" versions were provided with tech and gaming magazines back when those were still a thing. Ил-2 Штурмовик (or Wings of Prey in some markets) was a hit of the hits and was the catapult they needed to go big ty for bringing back the nostalgia
Wanted to point out, the "unique" damage to enemies camera in Wings of Prey, isn't unique to that game, Jane's Combat Simulations: WWII Fighters had it back in 1998, which tells me the guys at Gaijin enjoyed that game as much as I did back in teh day.

I remember getting Birds of Steel for christmas like two years ago because I saw it was connected and wanted to see what it was like. Instantly grinded through everything and even had a squadron to play pvp missions. Got Il-2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey about a week later, and while it didn't hold up nearly as much it was still a joy beyond belief to revisit it. I still love taking out the 163 and trying to land in fields bc of how touchy it is.
Thank you for the childhood nostalgia by mentioning IL2 :) I used to love it so much and somehow through my nostalgia filter always thought of it back in a more positive way than I think of War Thunder xD
I bought and played IL-2 Sturmovik so much back in the 2010s. I still have my copy with the pre-owend $17.99 sticker with a near-mint condition manual and disk. Now I just got the MiG-29 in war thunder and looking back I have come a long way, and been Gaijined a lot along that path. But if given the chance to do it all again, I would gladly live the experience, but skip the grind.
I was waiting for you to mention wings of prey. So I used to play that a long freaking time ago, and I wish I could find the screenshot I had because you'd get a giggle from it. But during War Thunder's earliest alpha, if you had that funky account that wings of prey used you could get into it. Early war thunder's golden eagles were called Yums, which I thought was the funniest thing ever. Anyway, I forget what the hell you got for being in the early alpha, but you did get some special funny planes, that I'm 95% sure are removed from the game.
God I played the hell out of Il 2 Sturmovik on Xbox 360 (good game but a fair few problems) But Birds of Steel OH MAN Birds of Steel Only counting console games, there is maybe NO GAME I played more as a kid than Birds of Steel. Probably my first real war-based video game (unless you count Lego Star Wars). I vividly remember playing those missions, ones like "The Two Against 39" or "To Scratch One Flattop" as a kid and almost feeling like I was there. I wasnt just playing a video game. I was defending my brothers on Wake Island, and even tho I knew the history well, desperately hoping that USS Enterprise (CV-6) would mount that horizon and save us. I unlocked every. single. thing. in that game. And as far as the main American campaign goes, I beat it in a matter of...... 4 days? Maybe 5? When I started playing War Thunder I had NO idea they were made by the same company until the snail stared me dead in the eyes and the music brought me back to being the first American pilot to go toe to toe with the Japanese over Pearl Harbour, or fighting my way through clouds of Zero's to deliver Hiryou her final fate.
The helicopter hangar appears to be an anechoic chamber, which is used for acoustic or, more likely given the military context, radio frequency testing
I was genuinely addicted to Wings of Prey on my Wii when I was in elementary school! I had no idea it was the precursor to the game I’d be addicted to in college!
I remember 13yo me sitting in front of my PS3 playing Birds of Steel everyday, looking back and seeing how far its coke yet how much has remained the same just makes me think about time, and every time when I once and a while boot it up on my old PS3, it takes me back to those days, in a B-17 over the Ruhr, or in a Spitfire over the channel, a Mustang over Belgium, with my buddies from middle school just thinking if they'll ever make the game better.
Birds of prey was just a minor spinoff titel. The original Il-2 games and CloD were made by Maddox games and the current great battle series is made by 777 studios.
that's one thing that's stumped me between apache air assault and warthunder is the damage models, when valkyries update came out the heli damage models were the same and the pylons could be shot off making you loose access to rocket pods but now that damage models long gone, but it is still seperate from the fuselage damage model
If I remember correctly, if you do a flip with the helicopters in Apache air Assault they actually say something like "That was pretty pointless but cool"
bruh when I was a child I had birds of steel for PS3 and loved it. When I started playing warthunder my mind blew away when I heard the SAME music and loading screen.

Dude you forgot there New game: Enlisted.
That game is pure ptsd
I was waiting for you to mention wings of prey. So I used to play that a long freaking time ago, and I wish I could find the screenshot I had because you'd get a giggle from it. But during War Thunder's earliest alpha, if you had that funky account that wings of prey used you could get into it. Early war thunder's golden eagles were called Yums, which I thought was the funniest thing ever. Anyway, I forget what the hell you got for being in the early alpha, but you did get some special funny planes, that I'm 95% sure are removed from the game.
6:48 notice the guy wearing a nasi armband? This is prob why the put the tiger tank.
Watched this entire video for this dude to straight up ignore my favourite game
7:18 oh tiger of the lake
Dang man, had to kick me in the gut with that technoblade quote at the end. Long live the pig king.
God I played the hell out of Il 2 Sturmovik on Xbox 360 (good game but a fair few problems)
But Birds of Steel
OH MAN Birds of Steel
Only counting console games, there is maybe NO GAME I played more as a kid than Birds of Steel.
4 days? Maybe 5?
When I started playing War Thunder I had NO idea they were made by the same company until the snail stared me dead in the eyes and the music brought me back to being the first American pilot to go toe to toe with the Japanese over Pearl Harbour, or fighting my way through clouds of Zero's to deliver Hiryou her final fate.
they were also involved in a survival game called abandoned i played it on mobile its story is sadly unfinished but its one good horror survival game.
gaijin is watching me (i got a wt ad during the video)
You didnt played Star Conflict
The helicopter hangar appears to be an anechoic chamber, which is used for acoustic or, more likely given the military context, radio frequency testing
The most legendary tecnoblade quote ever, Thank you
Crossout : "what about me????? What about me eee what about me and you together?"
Nice tribute to another legend, rip technoblade
I was genuinely addicted to Wings of Prey on my Wii when I was in elementary school! I had no idea it was the precursor to the game I’d be addicted to in college!
A gaijin video with a WoWS sponsoring... Want to tell the snail something? Naval rework? Pls? I beg of you snail...
Oh hey there lol
@@fireraid2336 oh hello you two look familiar
@@fireraid2336 ELLO
I remember 13yo me sitting in front of my PS3 playing Birds of Steel everyday, looking back and seeing how far its coke yet how much has remained the same just makes me think about time, and every time when I once and a while boot it up on my old PS3, it takes me back to those days, in a B-17 over the Ruhr, or in a Spitfire over the channel, a Mustang over Belgium, with my buddies from middle school just thinking if they'll ever make the game better.
Thank you for the technoblade quote. It means alot to me
I just realised i actually have an original CD copy of Appache air assault
Whaat, they made IL2 Sturmovik? I loved that game! Maybe it was not popular or even released in US, but it was definitely in europe.
I still play it today! I don’t think gainin is the one working on it anymore but it has vr support and is generally one of the best ww2 flight sims
"i actually enjoyed this game for the amount of unique gamemodes" sounds like something we need in another game we all know and love so much
Ngl that feels like a “fuck you” to Gaijin having a COPYEDITOR sponsor the video.
In apache air assault, that MQ8B has those eyes thst you can paint in war thunder
Apache Air Assault was pretty good. Even took some ideas from the Strike series of games and made them work.
If I remember correctly, if you do a flip with the helicopters in Apache air Assault they actually say something like "That was pretty pointless but cool"
technolade transition was smooth af
bruh when I was a child I had birds of steel for PS3 and loved it. When I started playing warthunder my mind blew away when I heard the SAME music and loading screen.
My theory about that tiger tank was it was showing that in the future Gaijin will make a game about war vehicles known was War thunder
