    BIG NEWS! Skylum has just launched a summer sale where you can save a massive 81% off Luminar Neo here bit.ly/NeoSale But the cool thing is in addition to that they've given me a coupon code to share with you so you get to save ANOTHER 20% (use code AFF-T5C1C0 ) I really hope that helps you out! It should work for both the perpetual licence and the subscription too. Enjoy😄 Best wishes, Anthony

    Hey, I love you brother. I'm 38 years old, I make content and help people grow their channels and I just wanted to say I love you and I get what you are going through with no words required. My dad is a smoker and an amazing person and he is an alcoholic and going away soon. I just can't imagine the world without him but, It is the natural way of the world. Not sad or bad in any way but definitely hard in moments and can take some getting used to. That aside, great video, great edit. I bought Laminar a while back but never used it and now NEO is a thing. I just feel annoyed that I bought their program and then they dumped it and started this other one NEO and charged again for it as well. I wish they would just merge them into one license. I really like how it shows red and blue to show over and under-exposed. Great work brother. All the best and can't want for the next one.

    Another enjoyable edit of a nice image. Never did get to the UK in our time of being able to travel. Personally, I found that the bottom of the image was still a bit too bright which brought the eye to an area where not much was there to capture the eye but did draw the eye rather than allowing the eye to quickly be drawn to the castle. Just a thought.
    Now for what I really liked but with a couple of ideas. At 0:48 the female portrait. Concept is excellent and the body positioning, split light, 2/3 facial view, arm positioning all made this a wonderful image and something any of your viewers who want to learn portrait image creation can get a lot of good info from.
    On my part, let me mention a couple of ideas and hopefully get some others responses. One consideration is to straighten the image as it appears to slope upward from L to R. Secondly, while the objects on the table can add interest, a couple of thoughts. First is the layout which is straight across the composition. Perhaps consider placing the structure of the three items in a diagonal from lower L to upper R and putting the small lower L item a bit forward and then moving the vase to the mid point perhaps having some of the plant items covering the light colored vertical in the background. Because the cup & saucer are light and brighter than the mask of the subject's head, the color and tone could be adjusted so that the eye does not go the the c & s when one wants to have the eye directed to the subject much the way was done in the edit of that castle. When complete the items on the table now offer a mirroring of the arms and the body of the subject.
    I am also thinking that with the slight re-arranging of the table items that the image could be cropped a bit tighter. Now that one is looking toward the background and not the subject, much like was done with the sky of the tutorial edit, so here could the background be toned down on both the highlight side and the shadow side so that the eye remains with the subject and not the strong visual presented by the background but keep in mind that there needs to be kept the ratio of highlight to shadow based upon the direction of light in the image. With the change of the crop, the new vignette will contain the eye nicely to the subject. That vignette will also help to tone down the brightness of the knee of the subject.
    AT offers the squint method of viewing the image to see areas that may need adjustment to keep the eye upon the subject of the photo. A couple of other methods that work well include closing your eyes and opening them quickly and just seeing where your attention goes. If not to the subject see what can be done to adjust the image as AT has done with the sky (keep in mind the amount of adjustment is often "to taste"). Another method is to rotate the image 180 degrees so you view the image upside down and determine if what you see first is what you want the viewer to see.
    Hopefully there are a few ideas here that can be of value as AT does wonderful images of architecture, landscapes and portraits and provides all of us with a plethora of great info making use of the NEO editor.

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great tips regarding how to see your images with a fresh point of view. I'll see if I can drop them in to future videos!
      The rotation / flipping method is one I use when I'm drawing and painting to check areas that don't look quite right.

    Thank you Anthony, excellent tuition! I have one question! I had watch your video on the release of Neo, and wandered if Skylum have now put the erase tool into the product? I have been using Luminar 4 and AI of late and starting to feel the need to to upgrade to Neo, or Lightroom - which would you recommend. Regards Alan PS have now subscribed to your channel 👍

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alan, yes they've added the erase and also clone too. Neo is now much more robust than it's initial launch. Neo vs Lightroom. Good question. I use both in my workflow but they each have their strengths. Neo is easier and more of a creative editing app. LR is more functional and has better catalogue and search features. My answer is both, but if I had to go one way or the other, NEO probably edges it for the additional editing tools. I think they've currently got a big sale on for a week or so bit.ly/Luminar-NEO

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the well wishing. Dad's not too bad at the moment. So I really love structure as an editing tool. I'm no a huge fan of detail as it tends to add a crunchiness to the photo that I don't really like. However, for my architecture (and this would apply to wildlife too) a small application of each can work well. And I mean small. say from 2-6 on any of the small, medium, or large sliders. Beyond that I feel the image gets an over processed vibe.

      @AnthonyTurnham  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Terry. You can apply camera matching lens profile corrections in the develop raw tool. Go to the optics tab and you'll see a check box that you simply need to tick. That's it. Photo must be raw and Luminar must also have to know your camera model for it to work.

    - your father is more important (i know from personal experience) I dont know his state, but i hope for the best!
    As for your video, you did it again. Reinstating that Luminar Neo CAN be used for something.
    I lost my faith in them after buying their add-ons and finding them more or less inadequate - especially their noise reduction.
    but as i said, you rekindled my interest a bit again
    So, if i dont want to fill my harddrives with huge TIFF files, how would you recommend to get the result from here, into my main tool ON1?
    An even broader question; You as a pro-photographer, how would you use those two programs in conjunction for the best workflow?
    regards
    - and the best possible wishes

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gunni. Thanks for your support and kind words.
      Tiff is a great format but as you alluded to it is a memory intensive format. I'd still be using it though if I need to pass image edits from one place to another. I'd then look at keeping only my final edit once I'm happy. Perhaps even as a jpeg. BUT you have to have the confidence that you're content with your edit. For a long time I was too scared to get rid of my working files and have huge multi gigabyte PSDs still floating around.
      With regards to the workflow, which ON1 program are you using? That'd determine the appropriate workflow.
      Thanks again and best wishes, Anthony
