What stands out to me most about this performance is not her immaculate jumps and spins, but her grace and musicality. The way she flows through the ice with such expressiveness and paints a series of pictures with her body... this is the greatest artistry I've seen in figure skating.

저도요! 금메달을 따던 2010년까지의 프로그램들도 완벽하지만, 레미제라블과 어릿광대는 거기에 아름다움이 더해지고 최고인 자신을 또다시 뛰어넘은 내면의 힘과 아우라가 느껴져서 구도자같은 느낌마저 들어요.

People keep talking about the free skate and how Yuna was robbed there. But what they don’t realize is that she was DRASTICALLY underscored in the short program. Given that she did a 3Lz+3T combo, while Adelina only did a 3T+3T, plus the fact that Yuna’s PCs are in a completely different league than Adelina’s, there’s absolutely no logical reason why they should have been virtually tied in the short program. Adelina should have been nowhere NEAR 74 in the SP, while Yuna should have gotten 79-80. That plan to ensure that a Russian lady would win the gold no matter what was long set in place before the free skate ever happened. Smdh.
Add the fact that Yuna's layback spin and step sequence got only level 3 while everything in Adelina's program got level 4. Lakernik was the technical controller in the short program. Surprise surprise.
Actually, Carolina Kostner should've won the short program, not even Yuna.
Piznoc Tsauo No, I can’t agree with that. Carolina’s Ave Maria program was absolutely beautiful but it didn’t have the subtle emotional nuances that Yuna’s Send in the Clowns did. Plus you have to account for the fact that Carolina did a 3F+3T and a 3Lo, vs Yuna’s 3Lz+3T and solo 3F. Not hating on Carolina, in fact I think she deserved silver behind Yuna, but Yuna still should have won the short program by a slightly wider margin.

I can’t believe the Olympic community still shamelessly tries to capitalize off of the queen even after what they did to her. why don’t they flaunt sotnikova’s Olympic performances for views if she were great enough to claim gold?
It's not the Olympic committee that caused this, but rather the International Skating Union. ISU is corrupt and extremely biased towards Russia. And if you want to blame the IOC for using ISU's judging system, they might as well take the entire sport of figure skating out of the Olympics because there is no other judging system. ISU definitely won't change it because it allows the judges to let the Russians win.
Caden Chen What I meant was that the Olympic channel and other events regarding the Olympic Games use Yuna’s Popularity for their own benefit,, but what you mentioned about the ISU is also true. The deep seated bias we witness now might as well be the end of figure skating as an olympic sport.

@@snowpeas2454 lol they did try to undermine her though. In olympic previous article 5 years ago they tried to put a false quote from yuna to put down the fans outrage after the olympic. They said that yuna aknowledge that adelina was the winner and skated better than her that night because she messed up her step sequence. Yuna team had to report those false claim and eventually they had to delete that article.

tbh it was quite obvious who would win. I was quite shocked when I found out Yuna didn't win. The other skater was fairly talented and certainly deserved a medal, but out of the two, I felt like Yuna deserved it more.

As a Canadian, I love Yuna Kim so much and I feel she is a legend! She absolutely should have deserved gold, but we as a world know the truth. She sends shivers down my spine and I'm not even a figure skater. Just the elegance, the grace, and the beauty with which she skates ... a Picasso on ice

Максим Назаров, when Zagitova wins 1 more gold medal, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals in Worlds, when she wins GPF 2 more times then you can come back and write. I am actually a fan of Zagitova and I was really happy when she won Worlds, I really like her skating, her short program of Olympics is just amazing but she still has a long way to go. Yuna has 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals in Worlds. She is an absolute legend in this sport. Please don't say who is better, just enjoy the skating of this beautiful girls. And as a fan of both I have to say that Zagitova has to maintain her level of skating until 23 to be compared to Yuna.

Those skaters put of a show that when they are finish watching you say WoW! but you do not want to see it again, but when Yuna Kim starts skating, you do not want her to stop, because her dance is gracious, elegant, passionate, peaceful, like an art. A beautiful Art. When you see an an art that you love you want to buy it, and put it in your room, or house to see it everyday, because it gives you peace.

I believe she might have one of the most massive 3A’s ever, not to mention her amazing 3F3T that gets so much height especially for the combo 3T. 🙌🏼
But still yuna's body position and toe pick leg was and is the best, don't know why everybody bends the knee when picking the ice and kostornaia also has a leg wrap. Maybe her team should acknowledge it, but I doubt it.
Kim's performances in Vancouver were brighter, but those in Sochi were perfect. One sees her movements in "Send in the Clowns" and "Adios Nonino" and realizes that they cannot be improved. I haven't seen anything like it in women's figure skating. Nowadays skaters are achieving more and more spins in the air and dizzying scores, but none offers a polished and well rounded work like Yuna Kim.

I actually think that sochi's performances were more well rounded (except for the layback spin which got pretty bad) with better control, her skating skills and artistery got so much better. Her SP especially could have scored better than in 2010.

As a Korean fan, I expected her score to be at least 76-77, similar but slightly lower than that in Vancouver. She was so underscored in PCS, lower than Carolina and similar to Sotnikova.

진짜 이 프로그램은 와인같아요. 처음에는 점프성공에만 신경쓰느라 느끼지 못했는데 보면 볼수록 대단한, 음미할 수록 아름다운, 요즘말로 진짜 찐인 프로그램. 다른 프로그램들도 대단하지만 사람이하는 것 같은데 이건 사람이 아니고 진짜 요정 같아요..
저때 기술 40-41, 구성점 33점 정도였는데, 기술점수는 그나마 예측범위 내였는데 구성점수가 생각보다 너무 낮게 나와서 손해봤죠 ㅠㅠ 연기 끝난 직후에 다들 76-77 예상했는데 74 뜨면서 소트니코바랑 소수점 차이인 것 보고 냄새가 났었는데 ㅠㅠ
This performance was like the queen's last poem of love and gratitude to her fans. It was a performance that could only come out at the highest level of technology and art. I don't think there will ever be a skater like Queen Yuna again. Yuna is just an eternal queen. I truly respect her. I love you. Long live the queen.
Stunning program, and her lutz is the best I’ve seen, still to this day. The clowns were already there. On the judging panel.

*TEXTBOOK* ---this is what makes Yuna on another level. There are days when she missed her jumps but on good days, she makes everything look so easy,which is not. Pure talent, grace, feminine, beautiful body, long slim arms and legs. An excellent jumper and artist on the ice. She is the total package...even today.

This short program is so underrated. This only got 74.92 which I think is way too low for this performance. I know that skating in earlier groups didn't help with the score, but her SP was one the most technically difficult SP of the night. Her SP in Vancouver was good, but Send in the Clown was way better in term of maturity and grace. James Bond SP was playful and flirty but in term of skating skill she has grown in the span of 4 years. The step sequence (which was only marked level 3, such a crime) is so effortless compared to you know who (I am tired being salty with the "gold" medalist) that got level 4 with shallow edge, rushed steps, and arms flailing all over the place. But art will always find its place in people hearts and I can assure you that more people will come back to this performance compared to the "gold" medalist performance.

ccc not the sp program, sotnikova only got gold bc Yulia crumbled over the pressure after the team event. So I’d say Yunas sp score was due to the early starting order.
@@almourie I still don't think that sotnikova SP score is "normal". Without help it should score 70 or less. She competed with 3 toe-3 toe (easier jump combo) and her PCS skyrocketed to high heavens. Even compared to Kostner who skated in later group, Sotnikova score is still too hard to swallow. If judges gave "olympic performance" boost then it should be given to everyone. Otherwise it's called favoritism.
@ccc Yuna skated last in the FP actually. That's why I think the Russian overkilled Sotnikova score and underscored Yuna later when she performed. It's so laughable when Sotnikova scored almost the World Record (at the time) with juniorish and flawed performance. I cannot see the perspective of people who supported her victory in the Sochi Olympic.
+74 was a HUGE mark back in 2014. Under COP, the perception of big and weak, fair and inflated scores varie from quadrennial to quadrennial.

You can ask the same about the component scoring (and, of course, technical scoring) at Sochi, where there was ridiculously little difference between Yuna and Sotnikova in this regard. We all know the answer to your question, and it's the same as in Sochi: The ISU, which governs figure skating, and the Olympics have been thoroughly corrupted by Russian influence.

@@bronzenrule and the fact that she only did a 3T3T and virtually tied with Yuna for the short program. Just LOL to those who claim that she won because of technical difficulty. Not to mention the other two world champions besides Yuna who had the same number if not more triples in their free skate, and neither received a higher score than what she got. Just ridiculous
the speed across the ice is just mesmerizing. After watching the 2022 ladies fiasco, this performance is just sublime...

According to my friend who watched there live, Russians had no respect to all the skaters (except to their Russian skaters), the most 'hated' by Russians performance wise was Yuna Kim and Yuzuru Hanyu's (either they shout 'Russia' or did not even clap, mind you most of the audience there was Russians so even of there were some applause, imagine if only a handful of people will do so, so rude). I'm amazed by the mental courage of Yuna, Yuzuru and all the skaters who competed at Sochi since, the crowd there so rowdy and lacks decorum.

I have not watched Yuna's skate for a long time. Now that I came here, I, one more time, understood that why she was the best ever. Everything about her is magical. No matter how big the scores are nowadays, no one comes close to her skating and I doubt anyone will ever any time soon.

Carolina Kostner's performance in these games were also great to watch for me, it is unbelievable that Sotnikova robbed both Yuna and Carolina of what should have been Gold and Silver medals.
