  • An Australian weatherman turned into a rescuer while reporting from a local beach. A 10-year-old boy was swept under the water - and the reporter sprang into action, helping to save the child just before going live on air.

      Well, if they stood around and waited for back up to arrive, it might have been different.
      Old advice: If you need help yell "FIRE" and call for firefighters. People will respond more quickly. Yell "POLICE HELP" and people will leave or just stand around. Since police always follow firefighters, you're fine.
      Those elementary kids would've been better off if they'd called "FIRE". Firefighters always run toward the danger to save someone else.

I made my way to him knowing i was already about to be in a spot where I couldn’t stand either but I moved over to him on my tippy toes water to my chin with my arms extended brought him towards me. His parents were thanking me. I was just glad I was able to grab him without me being in the same situation. Teach your kids how to swim folks! It may literally save their lives one day.

    My old boss one time said that she likes to take a book to the beach so she can look like she’s really into it if someone happens to be in trouble in the water because she doesn’t want to be bothered. So glad there are still good people in this world like all of those rescuers (and not like my old boss).

    Rip currents are no joke. I don't let my family go in past their waist when the tides are like that. One day at the beach we saw the lifeguards rescue people nearly continuously for hours. As they were doing one rescue I had to go out and help some young kid get back to the beach as was got caught in the surf. It was mystifying to me that his parents were not keeping an eye on him at all times. Don't go in the water when it is rough and no lifeguards are on duty.

      I live in florida,you are correct,RIP CURRENTS ARE NO JOKE HERE. I'm surprised you were able to recover from waist high water. Let me tell you,even in ANKLE-DEEP WATER,THEY CAN SWEEP YOU OFF YOUR FEET IN A HEARTBEAT,it is one of the scariest feelings ever to without warning,be pulled off your feet and into a fast-moving current BEFORE you can even get your bearings!

    • @staceyszumba
      @staceyszumba 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@memsat2001 Most places have signs about what to do if you are caught in the current. Ride it out and then swim away from it before trying to head back toward shore. If you try swim shorewards, or pull someone shorewards, you will only exhaust yourself. Lots of rescuers die.
