    Hey lads good video, I have done this swap so many times, quickest way is to unbolt k frame and struts, gearbox xmember, tailshaft lift the car wheel it all out. Same on doner car and bobs ya uncle👌

      Agreed bro hahah I pulled my first motor out not long ago was v6. Uncle showed me how to do it that way was a piece of piss. Nice and easy 👌🏽

    The way the price of an genuine bt1 is going I bet you will be doing a reswap over... Nice vid..,..Iam waiting on my 5 ltr VN Berlina wagon to come back from the restorer....soon😎

    Nice to see people keeping these Aussie V8s going. Got one in the shed been there 8yrs.... I have no idea what I'm doing with it but its there if I need it 😄 it's out of a 91 VQ has reco'd shift kitted trans which is why I got it originally. Non electronic trans was going to drop them in my HZ but I sold that..... regret. Then I was going to put it in my VS so I got the vs 5ltr loom and ecu and then I sold the vs so it's just sitting doing nothing. Might put it in my MK Triton 4x4 or drop it in my Subaru Brumby for s&ts and giggles who knows.
    Anyone want a 5ltr, trans, looms, ecus etc etc lolzcat

    I'd be interested to hear more on the v8 conversion you did into a Vs v6 statesman. Did you need to change the computer or loom? What was involved in regards to registration? Did you have to obtain an engineer's certificate? I'm considering it.

    Hey mate did you swap the BCM & ECU from the bt1 to Calais? Or just swap the memcal V8 chip from the bt1 and fit it to the original V6 ECU? Looking at doing this swap to my VS Statesman V6

    Why didnt you just drop the whole front crossmember down with engine and trans attatched?

      extractors dont clear the chassis rails to drop out the bottom and its a pain to line back up does take longer this way but i find it easier

    I own a VR Commodore Series II Berlina for a first car, people tell me to put a Barra, 304 or LS1 but I'm not sure what to do with it, just a future daily for now because I don't drive yet

    hey mate awesome video! i have a vs v6 statesman that i absolutely adore and would love to make it a v8 would you say for a novice like myself that its doable to swap in a v8? ive worked on cars and pulled engines before but never something as legit as this. would i have to find a v8 statesman? or would any commodore of that gen work. thanks for the help!

      hey mate if you have basic mechanical knowledge it's not that hard since yours is a vs you will need to find a vs donor car for all the required parts doesn't have to be a statesman

    hey mate wat about the wiring loom does the v6 loom fit v8 loom so no changing looms over

      yeah i used the 5ltr loom in the v6 body since they are both vp they plug straight in with no mods if your using a vs motor and loom you need to swap over a few plugs

      Plan on doin vr Calais 5 ltr into vs berlina 6 cyl will ecu marry up to vs body loom if useing vr ecu and loom

    Hi mate. Awesome video. I’m in perth and have a Vs v6 ecotec (swapped out of a vy). What would be the route to go 5ltr or ls1? In terms of difficulty and price. It’s going to be my first ever swap. I’ve got people who are mechanics to help out

      hey mate cheapest would be to buy a 5ltr donor car to buy everything for the 5ltr conversion will cost more than a whole car most of the time

    Great video mate, it was very useful to see both kframes next to each other as I know tuff do V8 mounts now for the V6 kframe which is handy if you don't have a donor.
    Got to also admit I find this a bit odd for a conversion, was the bt1 damaged?? Calais with all its extra weight and irs is not the usual choice

      yeah the bt1 was rough the calais was super clean thats why he wanted to swap them over he bought the bt1 as a donor

    how much does something like this cost to do as ive vp v6 wouldnt mind dropping a v8 like this one in but from what ive seen people charge 1000s more then other engine swaps is there a reason why the people charge so much more to swap a v8 into them then other engines had someone tell me he only spent 3k on having a 2jz dropped in his VS commy but when he had his VN get a LS dropped in it cost him 8k same place done both jobs lol

    Did you have to change the cluster? Or did you source a level 3 V8 one?

      the only difference in the cluster is the tacho and we modded that to suit

    Why not.. undo strut tops & 4 bolts in kframe to drop the lot & hoist the body over , & can easily roll the entire driveline package in under the Calais.??

      you can do it that way but the 5ltr extractors where wider than the chassis rails it takes me about the same amount of time either way

    I would have preferred to restore the BT1 worth more then a calais converted V8
