Ohhh what would I give just to see someone make an Alfa Romeo 155 DTM project car like this one. It was a killer and a real nightmare for germans on the track.
Pretty nice project ,love the engine choice. I’m currently building a e36 DTM tribute or replica… I’m using a m42b18 ,turbocharged, pushrod suspension and so on. Those are the projects that I love the most. Congratulations, good job!
I am really excited to see this build completed. I really hope it encourages more builds like this on the channel using different chassis, drivetrains, built to pay homage to cars raced in different eras. I don't remember the car but maybe the first that red AMG Mercedes sedan, some Porsche 911s (air cooled first choice) even a 996 since they don't gfet much love but done right could be really nice, and then maybe a BMW 2002 or 635. A 2002 or÷sr 635 could be really cool since people mostly build different generations of the M3. Or if you took a kit car and assembled it using the parts you offer for a very close replica of what was raced in period.
I got the 1986 190E 2.3. It’s was the awesome little Benz that love to carve the canyon road. I modified my car with Bilstien sport shocks and H&R springs.
Achingly gorgeous car…my god😍😍😍😍😍. I don’t think I’ll have ever wanted anything more in my life than this car when you guys are finished….just pure perfection. I’m honestly not sure a more desirable car could possibly exist in my opinion…..you can have your Gunther works and Singer museum cars, this is a real race car!!!
I believe the way the engine oil distribution can be registered to the level of performance that the car is built for a real race team sure will be a good security of long lived engine open track fun .
Kudos to all involved... espically with the livery design. A period-correct aesthetic with a nonoverbearing modern twist. That's not easy to pull off, and this is a job well done.
This is a fantastic series... really well made and I really like the style of the history, video, & narration combination. I'd love to see more of this, great work!
I'm so excited to do my 190E like this. God I can't wait, I just bought my 1990 190E though I wanna put a M104 engine in it though I wanna keep the OG leather seats but I'm thinking about going with a digital dash and have some ambient lighting like a newer Mercedes. Still not sure if I wanna turbo the M104 in the cause I don't want crazy stupid power I think 500 horsepower would be alright, but I'm not sure in RWD car. Any tips guys?
The M104 is an amazing engine with a lot of potential. It handles boost extremely well because of its forged internals and can handle your 500hp on a stock block any day of the week. If you go standalone (which you should) you can always make multiple maps with lower power for street us and rain if you want, but its almost a shame NOT to boost these things
@@kenmeri5832 I definitely want to be able to just enjoy cruising in the car so definitely would be a good idea and I know I'd want to have a povy rear dif too
@@kenmeri5832 Also what liter M104 is the best, cause I was thinking of getting a 3.2 liter, but another guy said make sure i get one with low compression
@@543nickb There is not too much of a mechanical difference between the 2.8 and the 3.2 as far as im aware, only that the 3.2 has a longer stroke and thus different power/torque charactaristics. Either way the compression ratio can be changed with a thicker gasket, shorter rods or pistons, its not something to worry too much about if you run under lets say 600 hp and even if you do go higher, you need to change rods anyway so might as well get short rods then. One thing to keep in mind however is that apparently there was a CR difference between engines that specifically came out of a W124, which was maybe what the guy was going for
Pretty sure the front air dam needs to be a loooooooooooooot deeper, bringing it closer to the ground and sticking out in front about an inch or two more. But damn that looks good! Great job.
► A race car’s wild flares, wings, and splitters are just as memorable as the sounds they make and how they drive. Our Golden Era Project needed to emulate those late-90s DTM cars as best as possible, and there was no better way to do that than with a period-correct widebody kit replicating the original championship-winning Mercedes 190E. However, a three-month-long ordeal bringing over the body kit from Europe has put the team on the back foot as they scramble to get the 190E 2.0-16 ready for Gridlife Circuit Legends.
This is such a cool build. Really love it. Considering how much work those guys did in the body shop, it makes me wonder why there is a paint run on the fender at 14:35. I would loose my mind if i got that back like that.
They were not stoked on where things ended up but given what they turned around in 5 days (had not originally planned to do the work) we basically said do what you can to make it work, they want to still take the car back and refine anything they were not happy with. For the scope and turnaround, we were stoked with the work they did.
@@fcpeuro of course the timeframe was short, which does explain everything well. Great that they will fix any blemishes that might be there, hard to find decent body Shops this day.

Impressive, if not it's understandable that it was done quickly to get the car finished to go back and weld it it.

We just finish the proces of production of the first - easy and good fitting body kit for EVO II. On the world's market there is one - bad template that is copied and copied by young amateurs of car-racing that are fascinated by fiberglass. We also manufacture MB w201 190 EVO II Replicas here in Gdansk Poland and when we tried to fit this dramaticaly non-fitting set (from Austria) we decided that over 130 of expensive working-hours that we had to sacrifice to fit it cannot be waisted and repeated. These 'aftermarket' sets do not fit, has no holders and mounts on both bumpers - also they have no closing arches along the tire line - why?, the screws glued in on the side arches are Dramaticaly not in their correct places, side skirts on doors - what do we do with them - glue them with kilograms of glue?? - they also must have bolts to fit them nice and easy. Our set is free of those problems but much more expensive - but still cheap. Also available in a demanded color so easier to paint or leave it like this. First 2 kits on March 2023 - Nr 1 on my private 300bhp 420Nm 190E 199 Schwarz-Blau with 2.0 M111 Engine :-), The story on my fb.
