Hey Mark. I have a 2001 Z3 3.0 rag top with an auto tranny. I can't handle a 5 speed anymore since it hurts my knees to use the clutch pedal on longer trips especially in stop and go traffic. I'm definitely an oldster with a roadster! Anyway, the auto tranny is smooth as silk and I can just sit back and enjoy the ride. One other best thing about the Z3 is that it's fun to drive at slower speeds too. Not every sports car can do that. See you out there!
I totally agree with you. My 2.8 with automatic delivers a smooth and comfortable ride, and when you push the pedal, you still can grab the bull by the horns. But most of the time it's simply great fun to just cruise the curvy rural roads. Greetings from Germany.
Great vid, Mark! People can(and probably will) argue about the order and/or content of #10 through #2, but nobody can argue about #1! Miles of smiles in our Z3’s!!
Gotta love the Z3. Cherish it while enjoying it. Parts are getting harder to find. I bought a used but less cracked dead pedal to repair and cover to prevent future failure. My rear window split this winter. Time to replace. I am afraid my yaw sensor is going bad, and it is nearly $1,000 to replace. I am starting to experience tramlining on crowned roads and in ruts. New control arms are coming soon. Still a joy to drive and I get thumbs up and smiles everywhere.
Maybe not the coolest, but damn sure one of the most genius things about the Z3, is the ability to air up the spare tire remotely. How friggin cool is that ? 💪😎👍
Hi Mark, always anticipate your videos - informative AND educational! You must be a teacher (I think I remember you saying you use the Z as your daily drive to school!). I saw this video when it first posted and meant to say thanks for featuring my car at 3:09, thank you! Keep up the good work!
Well done. But, Gosh! You missed one --- It is a BMW! Ooooohhhhh - And another one - Fresh open-air convertible cockpit! And finally, for those who have been lucky enough -- a hard-top can also be used! Ooooodles of cool stuf! As always, thank you, Mark! 😁
I've owned a lot of show and specialty cars and nothing get more looks from men, women, and children, that the Z3. It was a bit off-putting at first...being at a red light and realizing people are looking at (you) your car, but you get used to it lol. So, I didn't intend on becoming "cool" but damn, this car does it!
6:57 hi mark, same age as you bought a 3.0 M54 at the end of last season which needed tlc. Witha rare uk sunny spell I've recently got to really have a play topless! Driving slowly and carefully around town draws tons of attention but maybe feels a bit dated in ease of driving smoothness. But if you take her into the twisties and push as hard as you can you will find her saying cmon give me more! Ive never had a car that has literally put a smile on my face just by driving!
I think you should have had or at least rented a tux for the looking cool part...The auto on my 2.8 pulls well at any speed and while I wondered how much I would regret auto 3 weeks ago at purchase I'm having a blast without the manual.
never will you spend money on a clutch plate, cover, throw out bearing master and slave cyl, etc. plus labor. you should just take that money now and go to a racing circuit open track day in your area
fluids, belts, all cooling components,VANOS,gaskets. weak point is your cooling system. and look at a MOMO steering wheel from Italy. go for handling upgrades vs power. the suspension is set up for comfort but you can change that to a better handling spec. install your new top yourself
Hi Mark, always great videos..did you ever manage to sort the third break light properly? I’m struggling with mine, after fitting a good new washer and putting it all back together it still rains in!! Could you help please?
Near as I can tell, the original is a rectangle, if you cut it and looked at the end of it straight on. The supposed oem part they sell is round. I was promised this is correct and would fit. It isn't and it won't. My silicone work is still holding after 2 years.
@@MomentofZed ahh ok ok … I have a 2000 M and really want to upgrade the suspension but don’t want to loose ride height or comfortability so many options out there but all I read is that most of the set ups is a harsh ride
@michaeldegroot4417 old forum posts say yes, exact fit will depend on how much is leg how much is torso. You aren't going to have much extra room either way
Looking to get a z3. It’s now my dream car!! My goal is to have one by the end of the year!!!!
Good luck! Take a look at my video top 10 problems first
❤ I’m 18 and I love this channel, and my z3 older than I am
Good for you! Wish I hadn't waited so long myself! Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤ you look great on that Z3 , thanks for the Tips

Thanks for the comments on the auto! True on the speed, I rarely have mine more than 15 over the posted limit, still feels good!

I sure do love my 1997 2.8 ltr. Just hit 70K miles. Runs like a Swiss watch and a blast to drive. Thanks for your channel.
Glad to hear that and thanks for watching!
Idea for another episode. How to clean drainage systems. All the spots that should be unblocked to allow water flow near the roof, fuel cup etc
Appreciate the suggestion!
6:47 heck yeah is right!
Thanks for the honor of my car at 3:05, always look forward to your videos! Thanks again Mark!

Dead pedal, check, tramlining, check, my window is ok though. Imperfect but beautiful!

Thanks and I am a teacher in real life and the Z3 spends its days in the school parking lot.

It's a great car and a lot of fun!
The original wheels were carefully designed in to its timeless beauty
and performance.
Agreed, still have my originals and won't change.
Yes! The originals are Icons!
Timeless Design should be #1 on the list, 22 years of ownership in the books for me...
I think I should have moved that up!
6:57 Yes you are right :))
100% facts!! 👍🙌🏼🏆🎊😎 Love the epi and the channel! Gotta send in my Z sometime! 😎
Thank you ! Look forward to seeing it!
Great list, just got myself a '98 M Roadster and absolutely love it so far. Great video and channel!

I honestly couldn’t tell if that was you or Pierce Brosnan driving there at the end!
See what I mean? 😁
Do you have a video about how to maintain your z to keep it around as long as you can?
I guess I don't have one specifically like that although many touch on that. Appreciate the idea!

Hey man how does it drive after installing the koni shocks ? Did it lower the ride height ?
@josephnieto1215 drives much better, ride heights the same.

I'm 6'3' will I fit into a z3?

By the way... Today I found out the smallest four cylinder Z3 (1.8 with 116 hoursepowers) has got the cheapest possible insurance in Germany😁
Sometimes less is more!
With the traction control, is it on while the light is displayed on the dash?
No, if the light is on, it means Traction Control is off. So be careful 👍
@@trevorharman9880 exactly!
See Trevor's reply, it also lights when you lose traction.
It could be either the yaw or a bad/dirty wheel sensor.
gonna make me buy one lol
