I've always wondered if you could build a "second raft" that is initially attached to your main raft, but then you destroy the connecting foundation. Wonder what would happen. The perk about bruce, is that yes he does hang by your raft. SOOO you can park your raft a little ways from any island. Bruce stays at the raft, and you can gather underwater resources without bruce coming to give you snuggles and love bites.

You can only have 1 raft. Die, or unstuck option or save and reload game to get back to the raft if far enough away. Can spawn on an island if the raft is close enough to one. A triangle foundation is the smallest raft, 1 plank and 1 plastic, where if got all materials back if removed. All mats back for half walls and half pillars and similar too. A raft can get stuck on certain islands that have a pond close to the shore, due to some collision glitching, very rare. A raft can be expanded and then remove foundations in between, so it seems as several rafts. Armored foundations don't get attacked by Bruce, only needed for the outer parts. Corners have most chance to get hit. (Possible to create a row of catchers and then remove foundation after, better armor them though). Aggro distance is within 30 meters, does not attack the raft or you if outside that. The shark is pretty easy to kill, need 30 hits from a wooden spear (need 2), or 15 from a metal. Just keep still and time the hit, when the jaws opens. If right after do a full down and another spear attack, then can hit for a second time. Looting of only the 4 meat pieces, then the head need to despawn and give longer time for respawn.
I've seen a few close calls, but I don't think I've seen anyone lose a raft! I guess the game does make it pretty hard to completely lose it, even if you have to swim for it. Neat little video showing it though!

the elephant in the room: just sit in the water for 30 seconds without moving, hit the esc menu, and at the top is "unstuck" which takes you to your raft with no penalty. Yes, Bruce hangs out with the raft. It is a common tactic to park the raft a fair distance off the island so Bruce won't harrass you while you dive for resources. Salvage also spawns near the raft. If you know what direction your raft was, and what direction the wind blows, you can probably find your raft again with the help of the compass. Since I park a fair ways off the island I'm exploring, I'll often take a little note as to what direction I am parked from the island to not get lost and return.
