This is amazing. I would actually be able to practice playing Rachmaninov's 2nd Concerto without destroying my fingers.
This layout is something l like using for sketching out harmonic idea.

I need to ask because I’m convinced that Dave plays the regular piano well already and that this is selling the idea that I could do this with my decent yet limited keyboard playing skills. So I need to ask how well can he play a regular piano and how long did it take him to nail down this concept instrument? This has to be months and months of practice. Right? I produce fairly decent music on the keyboard but can I do what Dave can do with months of practice or what am I looking at realistically? I mean he looks like a master at this
I’d like to know as well, though by his own admission in the first video he’s not a very skilled pianist.
I’m not a pianist at all, but even based on videos so far I really want to get one because it seems much more intuitive than a traditional piano.
I’m primarily a guitar player, and these alternate tunings and layouts for the Lumatone just make more sense to me.

@@DarrinNoNAME I finally got my delivery date on June 17th. It's been frustrating because I was given a much shorter time frame, but oh well it's coming.

@@amj.composer Yooooo. I completely understand. It was very frustrating. I'm not sure where you live but with shipping issues and Minor DHL issues, I got mine. I never received my tracking# automatically so I had to request it a few times and once I got it I kept checking on when it shipped. It took like 5 days from my order date to actually ship. Apparently that was due to DHL not being on a daily pick schedule. Hopefully one day Lumatone can get a deal with Sweetwater or something and the shipping process will be smoother. To answer your question I got mine during the Limited extra stock deal. They had extras made just in case and did a limited stock sale and said you won't have to wait 12 weeks or so to get one and I hopped on it during that week. beginning of June?

I ordered mine in APRIL and I was told mine's already built and will arrive in 3-4 weeks. You got real lucky. I live in Minnesota and the shipping really shouldn't be a problem. I was constantly told "a couple of weeks" and that basically never came. Anyways I'm not complaining now because it's coming, but goddamn did they take their sweet time with no clear/transparent updating.

@@amj.composer I think the difference was when you ordered it in April it was during their current batch phase when they were being built? I ordered mine after the batch was done, and they basically had a few extras that were made during that run. They were ready to ship upon order. With the exception on packaging and actually shipping, they were ready to ship within a week. I got extremely lucky.
what are the out of the box sounds? ive seen some videos of some really cool sounds with the lumatone.
it does not make any sound on its own.
it's 'just' a MIDI controller.
