Amazing how many times these lessons have been so timely this year! A perfect example happened last night in the NYC subway. A man was attempting to rob a woman & a Good Samaritan fired 2 warning shots preventing the woman from being injured & robbed. The Good Samaritan was arrested today! So many people stated afterwards that it is not worth it to get involved these days. God bless the Good Samaritan!🙏
Our world is upside down. The good are prosecuted and the evil are let off the hook. So many districts have been bought off by high dollars to alter the law. I continue to pray and wonder how long it will be, before God will use Divine Intervention against this corrupt world.😪❤🔥🙏

Now it is all we can do to connect with are little piece of the extended family. It seems like weddings & funerals are when we see the majority of our extended family altogether. You have your work cut out for you with those deserts. I am not and never was accomplished at making deserts of any kind. Enjoy the run up to the holidays and the holidays themselves. Mainly enjoy the wonderful families God has given us. 🥰🦃🎄🙏

There is a higher law than the civil law, it's the God's law. Enslavement of human beings is a grave matter. The ability to live out this 7th commandment in community/society is to have the virtue, the internal strength of Temperance, Justice, and Solidarity. It's a radical idea, a direct and clear teaching of Jesus, thro the story of the Good Samaritan. This can be possible only when our hearts are deeply and truly rightly aligned when we are just and virtuous.

Love how Catechism guides us about matters of law, business, taxation, gambling, and even slavery. It shows how just God is, and how just the society will be if they follow these principles. A virtuous society is indeed a God fearing and God following society. The funny example of Grandma cheating at a family card game vs. cheating in an actual card game or a business is a great reminder to be mindful of our actions and their effects on others. The seventh commandment requires respect for the goods of others through the practice of justice and charity, temperance, and solidarity. In particular, it requires respect for promises made and contracts agreed to, reparation for injustice committed and restitution of stolen goods. Forbidden by the seventh commandment forbids theft, which is the taking or using of another's property against the reasonable will of the owner viz. Paying unjust wages, speculation on the value of goods in order to gain advantage to the detriment of others, forgery of cheques or invoices. Also, forbidden is tax evasion or business fraud, corruption; the private abuse of common goods, work deliberately done poorly; and waste. Also forbidden is the enslavement of human beings.
Quite simple. We’ve gone from breaking in to someone’s private property to okay to burn down cities or gay marriage. None of it is okay. Perhaps the level of sin can be less but breaking into someone’s cabin is a sin. Plus it’s a false premise, it has never happened. If that’s okay then it’s okay to steal from someone who is perceived to have excess or shoplift.

According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
Amen! Having reviewing these last few days of this catechism I think most of us will end up in Purgatory so it is essential that we pray for the souls in Purgatory and spread that practice so that people in the future will pray for us when we are suffering in Purgatory. 💜🙏

I think you misunderstood the example but the language in the CCC could be interpreted that way but not the example.

If you have truly tried, then you can keep it or donate it?
So it is ok to have bingo games at church. Our Bishop forbade that a long time ago and many old people were disappointed.
