Thanks for the video, our outlet clip thingy broke when using the tool and Autopro had the replacements so I replaced both. Now no tool is needed because the clips have an inbuilt release clip.
Yeah that'll work. If you turn it to run or on, you can hear the pump run sometimes until the fuel line is pressurised. Just give it a couple of those tricks.
Hey all, Just a tip fit a small zip tie around the plastic clip that holds the filter as they age the teeth don't hold as well. So a small zip tie just makes sure it doesn't undo itself an have a flipping filter.
only thing I would suggest is prime the fuel rail before starting. so turn key to on let fuel pump initiate. turn off maybe 3 times then start so then it won't sputter. good video though bud
@@connormartini9956 just turn the ignition on wait a few seconds, then turn off and repeat again. will prime your fuel. then just kick it in the guts and should have pressure at the rail! Happy days
Hey everyone out there you gotta be careful when purchasing the fuel filter because there are two different types as some are with clips and the other ones from super cheap are just slide on and you must get a length of fuel hose as well as hose clamps,so be alert.
Great video. That tool you used to get the filter off seems unwieldy. Is there another way without the tool? Is it a good idea to clean the area first before removing the filter? my son bought a second hand 2005 VZ commodore from a bloke who said the car was serviced regularly. Maybe that was true but I doubt it. I replaced his brakes, tie rods and tie rod ends because they were cactus. Whilst doing the rear right brakes I noticed the fuel filter dangling. How do you know if the fuel filter has had it or is better to just replace it? Thx Mark

Hey Tony, thanks for having a look at my video mate. I will have a look at the car some time but it's something I've not had a look at before. It might be a case of the blind leading the blind.
The tools never fit Holden well I haven’t had luck just push the two prongs and and push forward as hard as humanly possible if all else fails cut em off and use hose clamps
Got that tool, can’t get it between the ends of the filter and inside the clips for the life of me, so frustrating. Tool ends seem like they’re 3-4 mm too long
Toms Car Hold you wouldn’t believe, I fiddled with the connections and worked out that by pushing them against the filter as far as they would go actually released pressure on the sliders and they came off easy
Hey mate not trying too be rude or anything but too prevent issues wait until the computer check says ok on the cluster before starting it it stuffs the computer otherwise no matter what engine is fitted (the check is even in VT-VX but it appears as the overspeed light you gotta wait till it turns off) parents own a VZ they stuffed 2 computers from not waiting for the system check ok
Mate have a look at the part number all V6 commodores VT to VZ are the same pump but I'm unsure of V8 (if you have a V8 it may be worth while checking out a performance pump and aeroflow fuel filter)
A bloke commented earlier on this I think. He said where he found them. The transgold filters are cheap and they come with the plastic inserts for the clips if that's what is broken.
Mate, you drained the fuel out of your tank first? I did not see fuel pissing everywhere. Leave the petrol cap on or off while you do it? And dude, perhaps you can help me out. I am changing my filter because the car runs perfect after it starts. But after it is hot, I have trouble starting it. I have changed plugs and air filter, cleaned throttle body and MAF sensor, removed all vacuum leaks. The engine kicks first spin of the starter, but then acts like the timing is out, sort of firing irregularly, engine really rocks at the mounts (new as well), then dies if I don't press the accelerator. Press the accelerator or start it with the accelerator in a little, no problem, goes to normal. But I don't like starting it up like that, going full bore, without oil in the head. It is like the automatic choke is not working when I start it hot. Any ideas why it is coughing and misfiring? I am dubious it is even the fuel filter causing this problem. Can't afford a new car. Gotta fix the beast.
Once the lines were purged not a lot comes out. Mine ended up running like a bag of crap doing something similar at the end but it had so many other things needing attention it wasn't worth fixing, I got a dud tank of fuel and it was never the same after that.
Thanks for replying. Couple of your vids helped me a lot, and I appreciate you taking the time. I live in KSA. Commodores were imported here. There is a wreckers near here with 100s of them piled on top of each other. It is a sight to behold. I got a tank of dirty fuel too. It is a good clue. Injectors are next then. Plenty of spares to be had. Not many left on the road here now. The Saudis loved them. They all look back fondly on their days of Commodore ownership. Not much to be seen in other countries stamped 'Made in Australia'.

Good job, yeah i think it was mentioned, let it prime first. U can hear when the fuel pump has finished priming before starting
