Great video! My hanger situation has been dire! My Musketeer is tied down (which I hate). I was able to ride out the last two hurricanes at Hawk Aviation Services (which I'm eternally grateful for). I'm on the short list at my home airport, but it's much easier to buy an airplane than to rent a hanger in the Tampa Bay area.
Just found your channel. Great info. I'm following in your footsteps. I owned half of a Cherokee 140 35 years ago. Had to make the decision on whether to fly or feed the kids. Still have the kids. Now I'm getting ready to go back. Making the appointment for my medical and have researched flying schools in the are. Hopefully I can make it happen. BTW, you mention SCCA. Is that SOLO II pre chance? I used to race SOLO II, and still have the Mustang that I raced.
@@JohnathanMaravilla it will be hard to get a real price on a Sierra. There are so few. Hopefully the video have you an idea as to what one really costs. The 105k I paid for mine was really a good price. Have a good bit of money in reserve to fix stuff.
It is ridiculous the price of owning a GA plane....I wish the bottom would eventually fall out and leave these plane companies begging for people to purchase!!!
Me too. But the GA fleet is aging and the parts are harder to get for these old birds. Not enough new planes are being produced. I think prices will stay high and go higher until we have a real crash in the economy and cash will be king again.

Hangar space was the thing that most surprised me. And thank you. I learned a lot in those deals.
I’ve seen that 182RG
Great points. Just bought a plane in Dec to use with a flight school business. It was a whirlwind experience indeed!
I’d love to hear if you made money or not after the 1st year. I’d still like to try renting
@@therustypilot3452 fingers crossed. I am planning for business loss first year as we get rolling this summer, but then we will see!

The medical is the hardest part. If you have a cpap or any health issues it will take time
@@therustypilot3452 Cool. I remember those days. A full day of standing in the sun for 5 minutes of driving excitement. 🙂 It was fun back then.
@@therustypilot3452 I don't anticipate any issues with the medical. It's probably going to come down to the piloting skills.
Thanks for maybe the best one . How do you find partial owners aircraft ? I have seen an occasional one on Facebook . But not many. ??
Trade a plane
Facebook marketplace
Asking in the local groups
I bought my 1st plane and then sold off parts of it.
Bring that 182RG to my area in Va
What is a VREF (or vrev)?
vref.com/ its kelly blue book for planes but its way more complex and is behind the market some.
@@therustypilot3452 thanks. i had no idea this existed. Been looking for a specific sierra for a little over a year now and never came across this.

That will keep you busy
Bring some of your planes to @Arklahoma STOL at @PatriotAirpark in Pocola, OK on Memorial Day weekend, May 24 & 25, 2024.
