Be sure to have a migraine headache diagnosis. Keep a migraine headache log when it starts, where the pain is, how long the pain lasts, frequency, triggers, etc. When it comes to migraine headaches:
    1. Severity
    2. Frequency
    3. Duration
Be sure to read the DBQ (Disability Benefit Questionnaire) and 38 CFR (this is Federal Regulation is what is used by raters).

A migraine diagnosis is for at least 90 days wth 15+ events per month that last around 3- 4 hours or more. VA alludes to six months or more. Use migraine buddy and get a prescription. Add migraine buddy notes to document how the symptoms impact work.

Make sure you message your provider before your appointment of your symptoms because they will not write them and hurt your claim

Messages help your claim and it helps to write what your issues are migranes, anxiety, depression , sleep apnea. It's On record If you write it. Some c&p exam Dr don't write everything and often screw us veterans.

I have been experiencing ocular migraine, triggered by stress. The VA clinic prescribed a medication that turned me into a zombie. It seems that little is known about this condition and since it is not accompanied by headaches little concern is given to it. It is an obscuring of the vision and often prevents me from driving.

I did a sleep study with the Charleston SC, VA. 10 years ago. they told me that i Didn't sleep apnea, but my sleep cycle was that I didn't go into (rem sleep) that my mind was "hyper vigilant" . never got a follow up to discuse finding. just got denied. want to know if my sleep condition was ratable?
I have TMJ 10% rating, second to my dental reconstructive work. I'm trying now to increase TMJ rating and add Migraine headaches off my TMJ. I'm 30% total rating including my foot and knee. Thank you

I’ve done a great job avoiding doctors since I separated in 2006. Rather, I’ve seen naturopathic doctors, learned meditation and yoga, experimented with cannabis, even gone to the extreme of ayahuasca ceremonies. These have helped tremendously with things I’m dealing with. However, I understand this might not help with my VA claim given I have avoided going to doctors and not ‘adding evidence’ to support my claim with the VA. I’m sure the examiner will ask why the large gap.
I can get buddy letters. I’ve considered getting a medical marijuana card that might help too. Switzerland has made most of these things legal and has successfully treated PTSD. I’m sure I can get medical evidence to support my claim.
Is telling the VA examiner I’ve done weed and psychedelics something that can hinder me?

I’m a USMC Vietnam veteran, and I experience chronic migraines (15+) per month. The Prodrome phase typically brings sleep issues as well as many others, including severe blood pressure elevation. The Postdrome phase also causes many physical and mental problems. Migraines are treated with various drugs, diet and lifestyle changes, but there is no known cure. I’m filling a claim for the migraines secondary to agent orange hypertension.

I have had terrible migraines for four years since sleep apnea damaged my brain They often debilitate me for two weeks with the four days in the middle being unable to cook in the kitchen without super dark sunglasses on nor can sound be very loud without excruciating pain. The VA gave me a CPAP and put me at 50% secondary to s-c asthma. I have bipolar rated at 70%, so would migraine headache be a pyramidal symptom in my case?
I'm at 90% schedular and on P and T TDIU. 100% schedular would be good in case I sold a book and made a bunch of money.

I'm at 70% PTSD with anxiety/depression added on and only a 30% claim for migraines which is not right in my opinion. My headaches keep me in dark rooms and out of commission.
