I do recall at least seeing (and maybe recording?) one or two episodes of this when it was WB 11 in New York. If these episodes still have the credits intact, they might have a clue on how might voice Bengbu; since it could be an unknown actor (since 4Kids also had a tendency not to credit anyone other than the main voice cast since the midway point of their One Piece dub.) or he could've been voiced by either Megan, Rachael or Ted. It was definitely from a different era and looked out of place as more shows were going digital. Plus being more aimed at a much younger audience, I think it never stood a chance
Great vid!
I swear most people that even vaguely remember seeing Tama on TV remember it because of its theme song, I thought it was just me!
Thanks for watching!
It was a crazy time the US was still grabbing anime shows that were made in the 90s with cell animation and airing it in the 2000s
Are you gonna do an English Dub History of Super Pig (Tonde Buurin)?
Isn't that English dub mostly lost? How is it supposed to be done?
Just because something's lost doesn't mean it's not worth discussing. If nothing else, doing an episode about something that's lost (such as Super Pig's English dub) can bring attention to the search, who knows, someone may know something or have footage or something else of substance.
@@HalKozy ah ok. I only remember there's only brief clips and there is the dub ending credits sequence that list the voice actors.
Digimon English dub history video would be great
Im amazed at all the different cast changes or who managed to stay for most of it.

@@dwainsimmons3447due to some people retiring, passing away, or just giving characters different voices
Can you cover the slayers in one of your future topics?
I wish there was another new slayers anime
Amazing
Thank you!!!
It's a great show!
Bit of a gamble, really.
Also, I'm surprised that you didn't mention that Lobozzo was also known as an impressionist as well?
The Tama dub does not match the voice actors at all in the credits.
@@bluebaron6858 With a "??? as ???"; that I know of. I was mentioning that the names would appear in the credits. I did see that they appear in the credits of the French dub under "Voix originale". (Which is kinda weird, since Kayzie Rogers was credited as "Kaysie Rogers"; and Megan Hollingshead was credited as simply "M. Hollingshead".) I'm just looking to see if the original dub credits exist or not.
@@ottagol1985 there's one dub credits upload on here but it starts past the voice actors credits part
@@bluebaron6858 Ah nuts...

Ok i know commeted before but since this is the first four kids video of one of there obscure and oldest dub are you going to tackle there dub in order. Like what your going with the ghibli stuff or are you just pick Them out randomly
Definitely not going to be in release order. The next dub in the lineup would be Yu-Gi-Oh... And that's incredibly complicated.
Ok thinks but how complicated barring the law suit
There is another dub of Yu-Gi-Oh from Singapore. Even if we JUST cover the 4Kids dub, there's a whole discussion of the prerelease material, the card game itself needs to be discussed (there were some changes between JP and US beyond censorship), 4Kids' many paint edits, 4Kids' many script edits, the short-lived "uncut" dub... There's a ton to go through.
@@HalKozy oh ya i forgot there was a Singapore dub good point well. I guess. That video would be your toughest challenge untill that day come
@@HalKozy there was another lawsuit back in 2000 that was filed against 4kids.
Since the TAJ website said they dubbed 52 eps of Ultraman Tiga for 4kids, the listing for their Tama and Friends dub leads credence for that being likely true as well OMG!
Can't wait!
Oh yeah!
Hey Yui, about the F-Zero dub, it was FULLY DUBBED according to Captain Falcon’s VA in the dub, I remember even hearing that the Falcon Punch at the final episode was dubbed as well, but we may never see it since the dub got pulled so early on.
It was not fully dubbed. The dub script writer Michael Haigney said only one season of 26 eps was made and an international dub based on the 4kids version is 26 eps long.
^ What Baron said. There are conflicting reports, hence I said it's a topic for another day.
@@HalKozyI hope you can solve that mystery too, once and for all.
Tokyo godfathers! Coming in December?! Did you know that Jon Avner was in the other dub
But of course! He is one of my favourite VAs! :)
@@HalKozy I just found out that a lot of the New York dubs had Broadway/Disney Renaissance actors in them.

@@HalKozy Woah! You're a fan of Avner, too?
Oh God yeah. Love him in Berserk as Void and Tokyo Godfathers as Gin. Wish he did anime work more often.
Its odd 4kids kept "kids day" in the pokemon dub and but not in Tama
I kind of WISH there was such a thing as a "yearly Sea Festival" widespread in America, though. 4Kids could've taken credit for the idea!
I hope another new Tama & Friends show comes out soon
Can't wait for Lupin III (Geneon Dub)/Wolf III (Streamline Pictures Dub)/Rupan III (AnimEigo Dub)/Cliff (Cliffhanger)/Edgar de la Cambriole (French)/Hardyman(German)
I'm so happy is doing okay now in the US.
Honestly, I don't have a problem with the renames in America at all, if you put "Lupin" into a translator and translate it to Japanese, it will come up as "Rupin", also the Italian word for "wolves" is "lupi'. @@bluebaron6858
@@AOTSF_FilmsInteresting
I still think it was JCC likely voicing Bengbu. I don't know if they got back to you still, but they mentioned to me recently it could likely be him, but they weren't 100% sure.
Staff and VAs not being able to 100% confirm some things adds to the feeling this dub is from a dream or another universe.
You should do a video about the English Dub of Viewiful Joe. (Same company Group TAC).

Good video, coming soon do a english dub history of condorito la película, a latin american animated movie based in a popular chilean cómic strip, distrbuied by solamedia, dubbed by track 3 entertainment and with The peculiar title of space chicken
Sure, space chicken is a misnomer. Condorito is just a condor.

I think Nora was renamed Rockney in the dub, because he kinda looks like he could be a member of the rock band, Kiss.

I'm not going to say this video convinced someone in Japan to release new Tama media... But I'm also not going to say it didn't.
I hope there's a new dub from Aniplex soon. Cassandra Lee Morris would be perfect for Tama if that happened. Kyubey, but not creepy.
It'd be odd to see a new dub of such an old show, especially one THIS obscure and not in-demand. I mean, never say never, but I wouldn't expect a new dub unless Tama gets a brand new show.
@@HalKozy Very true... Morris would be perfect as Tama in my opinion - even if the 90's show is as old as it is. If you ask me, if they could get the original Dragon Ball to be dubbed in its entirety two decades after it premiered, then a show like Tama and Friends could surely get an English dub 3 decades after its airing in Japan. And for good measure, I could also see Cristine Marie Cabanos as Momo.
I'm surprised the 2020 series wasn't dubbed
