Props to Kali trying gaming desk audio. They get points for no RGB lighting BS. I thought of the Bose Acoustimass and Altec Lancing too. Funny how audio products can echo older designs.
What does my bass guitar really sound like?
As a crappy 5-string bassist, I can record a 12-bar blues piece digitally in at least a couple ways. I can plug straight in to the interface, but that limits me to the guitar's on-board preamp. Instead, I can mic my 2X12" stack & get the full effect of my tube headamp with variable tone and even some reverb.
The playback, with a hifi system of 5.5" mid-bass monitors, an 8" subwoofer & Dirac doesn't sound much like what I recorded. Playback through a pair of 3-way stereo speakers that have the same 12" woofers as my 2X12" stack sounds way better, in many ways.

Ever seen the Harbeth designers videos on measurements? They are called ‘tech talks’ or something. He got some competition speakers and tested them….quite interesting!
400-500 hz dip: wouldn't that likely be caused by the speaker's built-in Stand/frontal Lip? ...which is why it also showed itself in the anechoic measurements. Same issue exist for the Goldenear BRX bookshelf speaker (for which their Grill is made with extra foam on the inside bottom for which somewhat Helps, but still doesn't cure it all. Grill off and it is quite bad).

You are better off with a pair of JBL 104s on Kanto desktop stands paired with a Mackie Cr8s subwoofer. (subwoofer placed beneath the desk in front of feet)
