And making the excuse that they’ve seen him enough they wanted more looks at other guys is just pure loser mentality. Whoever decided to leave him off needs to be slapped.
I was at Canada's last pre-tournament game against Czechia and thought Schaffer was a 19 yo dman with a face injury because there's no way he was this good and still under 18. This guy is insane and should be the 1st overall pick in this year draft
Carter George looked unreal. In the third he stood on his head on the PK, with the empty net at the other end to secure the shutout. Was nice to see his teammates checking in an boosting his confidence after a particularly good series of saves.
@ he’s actually pretty solid, was good in San Hose playing behind Sharks defense, and has been excellent for us, and we also have Wedgewood, who has also been very solid, so we don’t need him to be a Vézina candidate, but really just better than Georgiev
@CamGoldberg3796 he was drafted by NJ and they tried giving him the starter role over the course of like 3 seasons but he couldn't handle the workload so they traded him to San Jose
@CamGoldberg3796 and the other goalie you guys traded for is a career back up too. Neither of them are cup calibre goalies dude. That's why I don't get it. They don't stack up against some of the other teams and how good overall they are. I don't consider the avs like a top 3 contender anymore. They aren't the same team from 3 years ago.
That goal where Price pushed in from the point and had the assist was one of the craziest things I’ve seen at the WJC. The poise, patience, and confidence to make that move as a young defenceman was something to behold. 🤯
I'm so happy you're talking about Easton Cowan, I do hope you cover the London Knights more. The Knights have 5 players in this tourney, with Cowan (Most points in last year's CHL Playoffs and Memorial Cup), Dickinson (Leading the Knights in points, and the OHL for points by a defenseman this year) and Bonk on Team Canada, and Halttunen (Most goals scored in last year's OHL Playoffs) and Nurmi on Team Finland. The Knights also had a 19 game win streak before the break and are just on fire, only losing 6 games so far, set to win the OHL Finals again this year!
We were watching the Canada Latvia game and after about ten minutes I told my wife that Canada team will not even get the bronze. I could be mistaken and the team might improve (hopefully by a lot) but as it stands, it has no chance. Canada, despite registering 56 shots on goal (!!) lost at the end. I will gladly eat my words and lose the best I have with my wife. I feel that Canada team this year perfectly mirrors Canada's downhill trend socially, economically and more that is happening for the last decade.
Political opinions aside I really miss watching Canada vs Russia and USA vs Russia it hasn't felt quite the same without them there over the past few years. Would've loved to seen the damage Michov X Demidov could've done last year.
He has been amazing the whole season, I'd argue he is the reason why Kiekko-Espoo has been doing so well in Liiga. Well, not doing so well right now when he's in Canada.
I’ve been saying for years with the cost of hockey in this country we can not stay on top of the hockey world less and less athletes want to spend the money to play hockey when so many more sports are way less money
You guys have zero excuses. All of Canada's kids can play for free on ponds for alot of the year to practice. In America it's not as easy. Only a couple states have that privilege. Most of us only get limited ice time. Usa is taking over like.they do with everything. Im sorry im not sorry
@@kung-fupanda834 If u don’t start playing at a young age you won’t love it and 2 if u do do that say who is gonna help u get to the next level for training plus without some decent competition it just won’t happen
It's more dificult for people of Latvia. We are a small country with a population 1,8 million of people. To be in a worlds top 12 is a miracle. Parents invest a lot in their kids. Everythink is on parents shoulders.
Shafer plays for the Erie otters. I live in Erie so I get to see him all of the time. It is really cool to see what he can do and I wish him the best in the rest of his career. Ps: Yes, it’s the same Erie Otters that Connor Mcdavid came from
You guys need to go easy on the whole “canada dominance” thing. Your hubris is becoming your downfall and the look on your faces when you’re put in your place is truly a sight to behold
All the talk about these players they deserve. But Team Canada do NOT get caught up with the TSN BS and go for stats of highest scorer etc. It's about GOLD, NOT stats! What about team Canada goalie, he was AWESOME!
No this is actual tournament. It starts with a round robin with 2 different groups. The top 4 of each group move on while the bottom of each group play a best of 3 to secure their spot next year. 10th place has to play a separate tournament and win it all to secure their spot. After the top 8 play the 4 losers get cut. The semi finals are next and the losers will play for bronze and the winners play for gold. I hope this helps
The standout moment for me was the 6 on 4 Defending at the end of the game. There must have been 5-6 shot blocks in a row by the team it's going tk be very hard to get a clean shot through these guys
I was at this game, it was kind of a snore fest. No speed, Fins blocked half our passes by just simply putting their sticks in our passing lanes. Fins really only put some pressure on us when it was 6 on 4. The crowd was sombre most of the time, felt like I was a monday Leafs vs. Ducks game instead of a Canada IIHF game. Both goalies were named stars of the game, tells you a lot about the game. Glad we won, though.
Schaefer and McKenna were great. Dickinson I thought was solid defensively. Of course Carter George was a wall. I expect to see more from Porter Martone in later games
It was a great game but Canada definitely slacked in that third period despite them getting that third goal. The power play also gotta improve quickly for when we play USA.
I was actually surprised there was 4 against the states, kinda makes you wonder what a very good offensive team will do to their defense and goaltending...
I think they’ll figure it out as things go. Experienced group and a great coach and that game certainly isn’t representative of what Augustine usually looks like
Canada better win. The amount of star talented players that they snubbed from either invites or just cut all together anything less than a dominant gold medal win will make Hockey Canada look like even bigger clowns.
Who’s here after the loss to Latvia
LATVIJA!!!
Oh sweet baby Jesus. I can't believe I watched that happen
This Team is Terrible. worst performance In Canadian hockey history all these guys are nothing special

@AvsJoe over half the period in the penalty box!! The loss is no mystery. Passing way to much, superstars on ice.
I love your saying this when Latvia just beat Canada in a shootout
We really need to talk about team Canada now…..
Here after they lost to Latvia man the timing of this video recommendation is crazy
One thing that isn't being talked about enough is that Canadas George got a shutout, and the USA had 4 goals against while playing Germany.
As a goalie I can say it way harder to play when you don’t get many shots and you’re up 5-6
Not to take anything away from George and his shutout, but Finland's offence is anemic at best.
Probably because it doesn’t mean much it’s one game against different teams
But to be fair finland would probably smoke Germany @daytonshuflita2201
He's a great goalie on a shit Owen Sound team
Are you still impressed after that loss to Latvia 😂😂😂
Can't wait for the Latvia video tomorrow
I LOVE the way that Matthew Schaefer plays, Physical, quick, can jump into the rush, and is defensively sound.
He’s gonna make a great Nashville Predators player
And he’s out of the tournament…
@@WineBloodR and canada lost to Latvia in a shotout
I used to play against Beaudoin he used to score like 10 goals a game on us
Leaving Yak and Parekh at home just to run Bonk as the Power Play QB is certainly a choice
