      I agree with your statement. Unfortunately, many cities feel they need to not “punish” criminals, so they let them go with plea deals and the criminals go back to committing crimes.

    According to a study from the US CDC, Americans use legal firearms to stop crime up to 3 million times per year. Criminals are bullies. They don't want fights, they want victims.

      Another interesting statistic is that out of the top 20 states with the highest levels of gun violence and murders, 19 of them are open-carry states, and 18 are Republican. More guns aren't the answer.

    • @sarahissersohn5495
      @sarahissersohn5495 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hmm- sounds like an incomplete stat - What percent of the time do guns elevate the level of the violence in a crime though? What percent of the time do criminals take the person’s gun off of them, and use it against them? I’m in favor of gun ownership, and also, of regulation, just like we see with other deadly weapons we already operate, such as cars. Eventually, once I can afford classes to become competent in hand-to-hand combat, I plan to obtain a gun myself, and to practice with it, to maintain a high level of skill at markswomanship. I do think it’s a really bad call, for people to buy a gun, without knowing how to defend their gun, so it doesn’t just get taken off of them.

    • @nimbly1693
      @nimbly1693 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sarahissersohn5495 They study said that people use firearms between 500 thousand and 3 million times per year to defend themselves. Like with cars, being allowed to own guns means that people are going to be injured by them, and to say you can get him violence to zero is false. But overall, statistics say if you're not in a gang, involved in drugs, or live in the hood, your chances of being shot are very low. I want all good people who feel inclined to carry a gun. I've carried a pistol for 15 years now. I especially want women to carry. Unnamed women have rapes successfully completed against them in 48% of attacks. Armed women, that number is 0.09%.

    • @nimbly1693
      @nimbly1693 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@sarahissersohn5495 I don't have the number on how often firearms are taken from self-defenders, but I know it's pretty insignificant. Another thing I know is when someone was trying to come in the back door at my sisters house, the dog barking, and her telling him she didn't know him and he needed to go away didn't work. What did work was my niece coming into the guest bedroom and telling me that someone was trying to get into the house, and when he saw me and my pistol coming and thought better of it.

    Los Angeles is disgusting, filthy, and crime -ridden. I went a year ago and couldn't believe the state of the city. When i heard we're supposed to have the Olympics there... I certainly hope they get it under control because that's not the way we want to be presented on the world stage. It needs much more than a temporary cleanup. I'm so sorry for Johnny and his mom and loved ones. He sounds like such a great guy and so talented. You can tell he is deeply loved and missed. I hope justice is served in his case and further, that there's a movement for true change in LA to protect others from being victims of crime in the future.
