If a friend has had a drink too much and not fit to go home and you really care, for safety reasons, either you personally take the friend home or let the friend sleep over. Don't send the friend off in a taxi.

Why wasn’t this guy charged with assaulting a minor whether they were dating or not she was 16 years old when he was almost 40 years old sadly he knew how to groom a minor just like a peudophile would do to his victim he might have been good looking but it would be a huge red flag for me if I were her family or friends

Jill Behrman’s brother was my sixth grade homeroom teacher, and he had a photo of her on his desk. It had been over ten years since she had disappeared, and he teared up every time he spoke about her. Even a class full of rowdy middle schoolers went silent and solemn. Such a heartbreaking story, as well as Lauren. I never even considered going to Bloomington for college, and it seems I still won’t. Rest easy, girls. ❤ You’re missed dearly, and are not forgotten.

When I was the victim of an assault by a random stranger on the year I had lost my virginity, the first thing that I thought was: “why me???” I’ve done EVERYTHING right and my crazy sister has not!” My sister was the ‘free-spirit’ so to speak. I was the one who kept herself till age 22 to the one I thought I’d be in love with forever, and mere months later assaulted. I was the Christian one, the one who gave my mom no grief, the one who had been physically and mentally abused by our grandma, the one whose dog was squished when he got too excited that I was home by the very school bus I was inside of. I felt the squish. My assault happened quite early on a Sunday evening as I went to use a pay phone (2002) as my roommate refused to let me make an urgent phone call. I had just gotten back from church. Basically, all the bad stuff would always happen to me no matter what I did right. And I never wondered why? Not until that day... I was angry, confused, grieving. Only years down the line, did I understand that none of that mattered. My self-righteous ‘goody-two-shoes’ should not be rewarded or get special treatment in that manner. What needs to happen in our lives is almost more about a combination of luck and purpose, than “God’s grace” instead. Many years of therapy and actual positive things coming out of that event, would shape me into what I am today. So, I went from victim to survivor. I ended up working in the courts. Particularly, inside the same building where my case was decided, had switched from criminal court, to civil. As civil servant when it came time for me to be hired, they asked which court I would prefer in numerical number type preference. My last preference was the Bronx as after having lived there many years in the past, I now lived in Brooklyn, had children, and the fact that I had never returned to the BX after my assault due to my PTSD. Yet, it was exactly where I was assigned. Now back in the same building (w an awesome salary and benefits) totally empowered and much stronger than ever. I was able to yet again, face my fear.
Further, my sister turned her life around as it turned out that she had the exact thoughts after my assault. She felt guilty as she also thought: “WHY HER AND NOT ME???” She’s the ‘good one!’ Anyway, we all learned to listen to women and not judge one another. We understand that we should not compare with others. But, that takes time. That takes healing. I understand exactly what and why that mom felt. And in the end, she understood why. Had it not been for her daughter’s struggle (she fought for her life) other victims’ families may have never gotten closure. Same as my case. Of the three victims of that serial rapist, it was me that the jury believed. BECAUSE, I was a ‘good girl.’ 😂 Super awesome as I was the one to put him in jail 25-life. He died in prison. He had full blown aids and no one understood why I wasn’t infected. Turns out my autoimmune disorder diagnosed 4 years after by assault, may have been what spared me as some folks like myself may have immunity to such. We must not judge others so easily.

To anyone that has a problem with what Hannah's mom said, just be thankful that you don't know that level of pain and grief that would have her asking a question like that. She even said it's selfish and she completely broke down even saying it. Grief makes you think, say and do things that you otherwise would never even think about. You realize how awful those thoughts are and you hate that they even pop into your head. I can't even allow myself to imagine the pain of having my child taken from me at all, let alone at the hands of someone else. I am so sorry that she has to actually live with that as a reality. I've been fighting with Town council where I live about street lights. I'm a runner and I've had to cut my running back because I can't do it. It's way too dark. I live in a very rural area but the population is growing so rapidly that if you don't do something about simple things like street lights then crime comes and pushes out all the good people. I've seen it happen so many times. Sometimes people don't realize how important street lights are until it's too late. I was told to talk to every town council member and I have. All they tell me is that they have plans to get better street lights. It's very serious. We are paying taxes and trusting our cities and towns to use the money to protect us above all else. We can worry about the cosmetic things after we have a safe place to live.
To the mother, don't listen to these haters. As a mother I understand why you're saying what you're saying. You're just being figurative and you even said that you know it's selfish so it's not like you're a heartless person.
I would suspect that as soon as she got into her house she may be dropped her cell phone or bag oomething and turned around to grab it. I don't know but it could be.
Haha! Dude left his phone! I bet he was obsessed wondering where that fell and he couldn't go back to look for it. Bravo to the police officers that did their job and stayed on it from the very beginning. I watch a lot of true crime and there are multiple cases for the police officers didn't even try. Evidence was right in front of their face like a cell phone and they didn't even try. Excellent police work work. Thank you!

No, no, no,no…….I will never understand why these young woman always go home alone, be it in a cab or Uber or walking. We must teach them, being anywhere alone at night is a BIG NO, NO ! It happens everywhere, your area is no different to any other area where these crimes take place. This taxi driver was given money to take her home ~~ not a block or two away from her home, but to her home ! He should be answerable to someone. However her friends who thought they were doing the right thing, should have gone home with her or she should have stayed at someone’s home with them. It doesn’t matter if you ‘have work’ the next morning or another appointment, so,you are late or you can’t make it ~~ nothing is too important that you are alone at night. It just shouldn’t happen. We have all been inconvenienced by kids that need a lift home in the wee hours of the morning, it’s just something we do, as parents or friends. Ladies, we have to be more diligent in an effort to stay safe. No one can be trusted, it’s a simple as that ! My condolences to Hannah’s family and friends. xoxox

Also, NEVER let your friend go home alone. ESPECIALLY if they've been drinking or are vulnerable in anyway. Male or female, LOOK OUT FOR EACHOTHER.
My friend was going to take a Lyft home tonight and she had been drinking and was obviously tipsy. My fiance and I brought her home. And I personally helped her down the steps at the bar and up the steps and into her house. I would never have wanted her to go home alone in a Lyft in that condition.

Violent history against women? In my opinion he should have been in prison for the rest of his life. And the girl wouldn’t have been killed

Vary your routine, watch your surroundings, use the 'buddy' system when drinking, be careful online, be safe. This is the time we live in, you have to be diligent about your own safety.

I get it that the mother is grieving her daughters death, but to say ' why couldn't you have taken someone else's daughter?' is disturbing - more disturbing is that the producers put it in the piece! My condolences to all the victims & their families. May they all get justice!

Agreed, it was wrong for them to air that to the world. Makes her look bad and she doesn't need any more pain. It was a terrible thing to think, nevermind say but she needs a break. It was a mistake and I'm sure she's ashamed of it now.
