No diesel is the longest running fuel in entire world is Diesel engines only reason for pollution. Aircrafts are major air polluters will government ban it. Construction industry also pollutes very much will you stop them and most importantly manufacturing of batteries is more polluting then ICE engines will government ban that. This is absolutely ridiculous government is going to be in serious trouble.

Already all car manufacturers started to give cars in bs6 phase 2 as well as in stricter norms ... anyway electric does not give much long range or mileage or torque as diesel... in my opinion, actually ev battery produces more pollution than diesel fuel... there are many alternatives fuel cell or air powered fuel or water powered or strong diesel hybrid like strong petrol hybrid there in other countries... why manufacturer is not trying to bring up these things to us... i dont understand why we dont have good infrastructure....

Petrol SUV cars don't give good mileage untill and unless they are Smart hybrid or pure hybrid. Diesel cars always give good mileage. How can someone sell his diesel car or tractor or truck just for this nonsense 10 years Diesel and 15 years petrol NCR rules. Also Govt of India is only promoting new and costly cars instead of old and cheaper cars. Big Scam is happening between car manufacturers and Govt of India. Shame on them...
All these rules and bans must applicable on commercial vehicles only. How can UP Govt, Haryana Govt, Rajsthan Govt can sell their 10 years old diesel buses and other official vehicles??? These Govts don't have CNG buses till today only Delhi have. All rules are applicable only for middle class people to make them poverty level.

Auto enthusiast sacrifice performance oriented cars, obviously the diesel ones. Reason being we can’t afford hefty amount for 10 years. Luxury car owners are disposing their cars in panic at throw away prices. Definitely, it will not control pollution even if the proposal is implemented. Hydrogen is the worst, it's not even an option in the developed countries yet which are all moving to EVs. Only Oil companies push Hydrogen and that too very lightly. Hydrogen is useless for vehicles like Cars and buses.

I will get flayed by diesel fans. Nevertheless here it is: diesel has to go for passenger cars. It has to start somewhere eventually all polluting vehicles commerical or otherwise should get replaced. Our health is more important than anything else. Always hated diesel because it fouls the air wherever it goes.

Lot of emotional issues are there in this video and comments. Reality is that share of diesel vehicles has dropped from 57 to 18℅ in last 10 years. Big manufacturers like Maruti have stopped selling diesel cars. Tata and Mahindra are also switching to Electric cars. It may take time to completely stop diesel but the trend is clear. Go for petrol hybrids now or CNG vehicles. Price difference between petrol and diesel has reduced drastically and may become equal in future thus reducing the attraction for diesel. If this happens, customer will stop buying diesel, no need to ban diesel. City buses will be changed to electric buses. When railways can change from coal engines to electric engines, is it impossible for transport ministry to change to electric vehicles? Government will wait until Tata and Mahindra are ready to stop diesel manufacturing, then it becomes easy to implement.

Here in NCR, govt could implement the ban on private diesel vehicles overnight.
That of course doesn't mean that the current private owned diesel cars would be banned from running on the roads , they will run until their validity but the ban will be made on selling new private diesel vehicles.
Commercial and industrial use will take a lot of time so they are safe but not the normal car buyer.
