Thats an amazing discovery Phil, you can now fix any board that the disk drive chip breaks down or like in this case that you dont have the disk drive board. Nice job Phil.
Well done mate you are a legend. Now wait for all the other techs to brag that they were the first to discover this and try and take your glory, we all know better.
I feel the shear happiness at the end. Great fix mate and awesome job on the bios swap too. You literally saved the poor thing from being dumped. Microsoft, please take notes 😂😂
So glad i found this channel after a tech friend recommended I check you out. Love your enthusiasm and attitude towards these wild and often annoying issues 😃
Great video as usual, though I think one good reason to try to repair these boards is to know which is fully repaired so all parts are good and which is not fixable so at least knowing which parts are possibly faulty so these parts are excluded from extracting.
Here, in Russia, now we do not have any official service from Sony and all we have to do, is to repair them by ourselves. All the Russian console repair community discussing your discoveries in PS5 platform. I hope Sony will not close this possibility in the nearest future, but we all know they're pricks. PS. Great work , Phil!
So if the bios chip on the disc edition contains the console’s encryption key what about the digital edition does that bios hold the key as well because if so when you cloned the original bios and used it on another console your theoretically putting that unique key on each console you use that bios file on and surely that will end up with them being banned ?
Hi Phil, pls take 3 minute to read!..do you have any bin file that can convert an EDM-020 disc based board to digital? It seems this digital conversion only work for EDM-010 boards (disc to digital).I tried to use an EDM 010 digital bin on an EDM 020 Disc based motherboard, but it triggers a 2 second BLOD lol, I return the old code and it booted back to white light. Can i challenge you to do this digital conversion on an EDM 020 board? this should be interesting watch...Am not sure i remember coming across any EDM-020 digital board though, may exist? if we cant use EDM 010 digital bin for EDM 020 disc conversion, then we are screwed lol! **Extra Note** I am just now thinking about it, ps5 2 second BLODs are usually easier to fix when we get a short, trace it with an injection ,replace part needed...its HELL when we get no short at all and all rails check out fine. COULD BIOS cause this as well? I mean, it makes sense since NOR Flash causes BLODs on the PS4. Whats your take on this Phil?
Do Sony not block consoles that have had this bios change. I say that because the console serial number would be noted as a disk or digital??! Surely they keep records of all consoles sold etc
You'd need to be able to access the console's encryption key, as I can reassure you that the daughterboard ID stored inside the BIOS is *NOT* stored raw and unencrypted. Then you'd need to find a way to extract the daughterboard's internally stored ID (without destroying it in the process) or you'd need to find a way to override the daughterboard's internally stored ID (if that's even possible). You'd also need to know the exact encryption/decryption scheme that the PS5 uses. If the daughterboard's ID can be overridden, you need to decrypt the BIOS' daughterboard ID using the PS5's decryption scheme and override the daughterboard's internally stored ID with the BIOS' now-decrypted daughterboard ID. Otherwise you'll need to find a way to extract the daughterboard's internally stored ID, use the PS5's encryption key and encryption scheme to encrypt it and then use the newly encrypted daughterboard ID to override the BIOS' encrypted daughterboard ID. And all of this assumes there aren't any caveats to the whole encryption, decryption and verification system (Does the daughterboard itself store its ID in an encrypted state? Does the raw, unencrypted ID need to follow a very specific pattern? Does the firmware itself store its own encrypted copy of the daughterboard ID, rendering any attempt to modify the BIOS' encryption key a waste of time? Etc. etc. etc.).
hello phil..........remember ozzy from west bromwhich ??? lol i have an inverter i have overloaded and it now has short to ground as pops fuses when powered up, would u be interested in attempting repair on it ???? obviously you could use to make content........and if u can repair i will gladly pay you some money if i can gain use of the item.........if ur interested let me know if ur not too busy..........cheers
lets hope Sony doesn't find a way to ban these updated bios revisions. but maybe they don't care. somehow this seems like its too good to be true. time will tell.
@@TheCod3r Well this is a biggie. IF you can do what we discussed with the Winbond it'll allow salvage of a bunch of "dead" consoles to be used as digital only.
These things are looking more and more repairable every day. Thanks for all your hard work!
It's a shame about the daughter boards for the drives.

You are The PS5 repair KING you scored one for the little guys 😊😊😊😊😊
Phill you are doing all great... What ever happend... 🎉🎉🎉🎉You well win the combat...
Well done lad. Impressive watching. Its frightening what you are able to do.
Well done mate you are a legend. Now wait for all the other techs to brag that they were the first to discover this and try and take your glory, we all know better.
Good work Dr Phil, you are a legend.
Super nice job. You are the man. Make them all digital ed. You can save so many consoles. Big money to be made
Wow, man this is huge for sure. Now, permanently defect consoles can be revived. I wonder if Sony will attempt to blacklist boards.
100% they will, they're in the business of selling new hardware as often as possible.
I dont think i will use anything i learn hete for my daily live but i still enjoyed watching this video.. thats the coder difference..

Right on mate! These are so satisfying to watch! Specially 'cause i've been getting a streak of nothing but fail city on my end.
20:51 That thing popped right there and you didn’t catch it

Thanks Master
Love your work coder , keep it going mate 🙏
Phil love the video you should turn all the fixed PS5 motherboard's into a digital edition bios it's your best choice 👍👍
Can you do a video or livestream of you stripping down the parts and preparing them for re-sale? I think it would be interesting to watch
Nice work again AMAZING‼️ man 🫡👊🏾

clearly the digital edition bios is missing that part because it never had a disc daughterboard
Hey Phil, is the Serial Number changed, when you swapped the BIOS chip?
no
Well done. Truly Successual ;)
You can fix anything, greetings Mehmet from Germany
Congrats
5:05 look like sylver oxyde thermal pads , commonly used in plasma tvs under y and Z sustains boards ,

You should be able to clone the BIOS chip and re-write it to the original BIOS chip?
Somewhere there is a kid watching this and crying his eyeballs out 😅😂
Had a same problem like this but cannot find what is wrong.. no short anywhere 😒
Hello Phil
Thats awesome! Great work as always
You are master..wax on wax off

cap or resistor is missing at 13:44 !
Phil when are you going to trouble shoot and repair some Xbox series x systems?
So how about making a Digital a Disc version. Since the Bios chip has the Key for Blu-Ray Drive. That would be something :)

Did I hear correctly, 6 to 7 hundred per stripped board?
if you add up all the 5-10-20 gbp dollars chips on them, seems quit easy. but how often do you sell them thats the question??? maybe in 10 years

I hope they don't care. The BIOS-modified PS5 has already lost one major part of itself, being banned would take another major part away.
I need your help your videos are awesome we're are you ?
hhhhhhhhhhhh yeah baby........you deserve 1 million sub man
I wish i could fix things.... I would fix the ps5s and series x in mexico and make a good buck
Next hack a cfw
I predict this will be great. Or an epic fail. Definitely one of those for sure.
Haha yep it'll be one of them
