What a legend Dirk Bogarde was. A man ahead of his time and an absoloute gentleman as well. You mentioned another one in Roger Moore. They genuinely don`t make them like that any more.

As a young boy I remember how being a Hollywood star was for most considered a badge of honor that demanded respect of the audience and impart intelligence, civility, and tolerance. David Niven epitomized that best of all. I find it fascinating to ponder why so many great personalities were drawn to the region a well and why episodes to me are so captivating.

He also reminded me of when I was a kid growing up around my Dad's Hollywood cohorts, and similar stories of learning on the job they told. Not much of Hollywood is glitz and glamor, mostly long hours, stress, a bit of agony and a few some moments of magic and delight. Theater has to be as tough or tougher, and listening to Dirk, reminded me of how the successful actors I recall would not have been nearly as successful if they had not come from a strong work ethic, or grew up under difficult circumstances and learned who to endure and work through challenges and misery.
