An old girlfriend of mine now lives in Nice. She was there on the evening of the terrorist attack and we all worried she might have been caught up in it. Luckily she wasn't. I know the heat must be unbearable but, the weather is so awful here in the UK at the moment (wet, windy and below 20C), it's hard not to be envious.Great to see the Ami is still doing well in spite of it. Also, I'm not a religious man but that church is stunning.

Some years ago we had a bit of a heat wave @ 35 centigrade. I used to sleep in the local forest. It's so much cooler. On the walk in I saw two pairs of eyes looking at me reflected like cats eyes by a torch. I settled down and in the morning it turned out it was two dear that weren't fased at all by me. I was as close as two meters it was fantastic.

I love the summer, but I don’t do extreme heat. So worrying to see the results of environmental change around the world. Fantastic find those chargers in Nice. Will be a nice spot to park in the winter! I was wearing a coat on my bike ride today. We are back to usual weather in Wales - lots of rain and wind yesterday.

It's boiling in Cyprus too. We've started charging our Twizy very early in the morning when it's a bit cooler as it was taking a long time to charge in the high temperatures. That restaurant looked tremendous. It was nice to see someone taking their cat for a walk too 😺
Yes I noticed the other day that is fully charged but I reckon the heat prevented it going max (or the fans kicked in and reduced it)

To cool your Ami. I know that Ice is sold in Supermarches down south, and presume that you have a freezer. Have you considered getting a 'suitable sized' water proof container with lid. Drill holes in lid to accommodate a computer fan with USB drive; I hope the Ami has one, also, smaller holes in lid for cold air to escape. Make it so the fan blows 'INTO' the box. When ice has melted, empty container and replace ice with extra stored in insulated box-bag. Just a thought.

The summer fireworks show was spectacular! You can say the French do Bastille Day in style, don’t they? As for the Calve de la Tour Cafe, its one if those cafes, which if expensive, is justified both for the food snd the superb wines it offers. Too bad about the heat wave; living in the mountains has me spoiled in the summer. That said, a wonderful review of a French summer holiday and I for one, am looking forward to more from you guys in the future.

Here in SW Scotland the temperature crept up to 14c today (very windy with showers and brief sunny intervals). This evening, I've just had to light the fire 🙄, and I've popped a warm blanket on top of me duvet in case it gets nippy tonight.

Well that is really very hot in Ville France, luckily here by the sea it is only 20 degrees during the day and 16 degrees at night so that is very pleasant. Beautiful fireworks, but that was here last week too, always a beautiful sight!

An average summer day temperature stays between 26 and 32 degrees along the Atlantic coast, sometimes but not so often can reach 35 + and not more than 2 or 3 days.

Decided I wanted to go shopping, so as its not a holiday in Italy I jumped in the old Japanese 4X4 and headed over from Villeneneuve - Loubet to San Remo. With the aircon keeping the shopping cool at 19 C.
Nice but..
2016 resonates with me, as well as the terror outrage, I had a heart attack in March. Later, recovered along came Covid so unable to travel to Nice in September as intended, or for another three years. Hopefully this year in September, if air traffic control are working.. Cheers.

PERFECT! Who couldn't feel a bit French after this? At 9:40 your lunch at Cave De laTOUR was brilliant, and all for about the price of drive-thru at TacoBell drives home what we're missing out on here, perhaps a cut of your lunch would be a great featurette on it's own. Also, I couldn't help but think that a thin drop cover to pop over Elton might help when parked. I was thinking it might be made of sunbrella marine canvas from a local canvis boat shop in Villefranche or Nice or lightweight rip-stop nylon like used for hot-air balloons, and with Me and Mon Ami branding, a feature product?
I thoght Tacobell was fast food. Does it really cost that much?
TacoBell seems the lowest price of the fast food options in America I don't opt for, but about 3X the cost of a couple of years ago. I just did a sample order without wine, or salad (they don't have that) for one person on their online menu that totaled $28.75. Time that by two and it's $57.50. If you went to a cheap bar for wine, that's about $8.00 to $12 per glass now.

I live about 30mins outside Portland Oregon, and have been comparing costs here to southern France and Italy, and considering other places I've lived like Malaysia, Japan, Mexico, Australia and Villefranche appears to be about 1/2 the cost of here, and when I compare Portland's awful weather, Riots, crime, drugs and how fast prices are still inflating, Villefranche seems like paradise. Plus France's retirement visa requirements appear to be some of easiest.

@@MeandMonAmi Thanks Tim, Before the Pandemic, I was considering escaping back to Australia and Malaysia but when both clamped down on visas, I was looking at Turkey and Georgia, but the war changed that, and now my escape shortlist is West Malaysia (Sarawak), Thailand and France, but from what I've gleaned from a couple of years of hanging out with you on the Riviera, it's starting to feel a bit like a virtual home.

Get the roof vinyl wrapped in white, it reflects heat rather than absorbing it like black does. People famously buy white cars in Asia to keep the heat off.

No we try and sniff out the good ones. There are plenty of very average tourist places

Basically air fry until the skins start to brown slightly then put in a sealed bag and pull skins off after maybe half an hour and chill with oil and garlic (or not) and serve with anchovies

if you have problems with heat there are some portable minisplit ac for motorhomes with only around 300W to 700W 230V. you cold easly power these with the powerstation for a long time

Great value for the meal Mr Boos dish looked delicious. Twiggy as usual stole the show so cute . your channel is an escape. I stopped watching soaps etc because misery on screen is draining. Remember you filming an exchange visit as a young teenager which I think you also edited so the beginnings were there then. The drone shots are truly spectacular.

Why don’t you add a UV reflective screen to the roof glass to reduce the heat.
We keep meaning to and I’m sure would help a bit but I still think in summer the ami is a very hot car to drive (no air conditioning etc)

Yes that’s 25 years old and has had a wand upgrade and I’ve done various bits of maintenance but it’s amazing (the key thing was the sage grinder though as dialling in the grind is really important). I’ve heard mixed things about the new ones

Me Boo is in charge of charging point app and he says he’s never noticed it. Such a strange place for it but my guess is the council bans charge and park there so they added some public points too

How fast are you going in the opening shot? It looks like you're bombing it down that hill - but the Ami is restricted, no? Is it an illusion?

not so extreme as media say, you live on the beach near the ocean, there the heat is normally not so heavy like at countryside.
It’s way worse on the coast than up in the hills behind us trust me! It’s also much hotter further round the coast in the car but then it always is..

As I check weather at Nice airport now it says +28C but feels like +35C!
In Avignon, a bit inland, it is +33C but it feels like +33C too.

Hi lads from Spain where, at 8pm, it is still 36°. Our max tomorrow is going to be 41°. Tim, you must take care with the sun to avoid more big C. Twiggy's feet on the hot pavements need to be taken care of - they can burn and blister. Herrings? I used to have to fillet a cran of herrings every morning when I helped to run a restaurant that specialised in herrings, fried or jellied or pickled. I can't stand herrings with all those hair-like bones - I don't like hairs in my mouth either!
Yes you are way hotter than us. Last year was much worse here but in the Ami it’s a real struggle. We are careful with Twigs paws but she’s on car rest for a bit (though nexts weeks is in the can)
In the U.S. they're treating people with burnt feet. Apparently, in places the sidewalk is 70C.
