Yes! There are channels that have entire series on "How To Can" or "Canning For Beginners" videos here on TH-cam. You can learn how to use a pressure canner or a water bath canner, which is perfect because Carol has received both kinds as housewarming gifts. I've always been more of a visual/audio learner, too. It's become our go to place to find out how to do all sorts of DIY and household repairs, etc. We call it TH-cam University! LOL
Don't be afraid of canning. I'm an old geyser and learned to can a few years ago. There are some basic safety procedures, but it's actually fairly easy and straight forward. Just realize there are TWO types of canning. Water Bath and Pressure Canning. Jams can be "water bathed". Stupid easy. Low acid food need pressure. You have a pressure canner. It's not rocket science and very satisfying when you have a rack full of canned Chile, chicken, soups, and stocks. Embrace it and be BOLD. You're HOMESTEADERS now! Love you guys
Almost all American kitchens have these kitchen rugs & we have them also in our laundry rooms & the expensive ones are called fatigue mats that are thicker & have memory foam in them so you can stand & cook or fold clothes without it hurting your back, knees, etc... These are for decoration for the holidays & will help so you don't slip & fall in the kitchen or wherever. Great gifts 😊🎉😍💚❤️🙏
Hope the tablecloth wasn't too big. I didn't know how big your table was. The mats are good if you you are on your feet along time standing. Enjoy and Merry Christmas !
I can attest to the fact that the nasal lavage will cut down on sinus infections. We use the kitchen mats in places that we tend to stand in one place for longer periods of time. Sometimes the floors are very hard. Or just to decorate!
@ Unless they are one of those people who don’t read instructions it shouldn’t be a problem. I have always had information inside the box of proper usage.
@@GingerLady57, I just know that if I were to give someone a gift like this, especially someone whose first language isn't English, I'd write out specific instructions about this. ♥
I would place the longer mat in front of your cooktop area as it is long enough to cover where you stand to do the prep work and the actual cooking. The shorter one I would place in front of the kitchen sink.
Carol, don't be too scared of the canner. Once you try it the first time, it will help you overcome the fear. Ball canning company has a recipe/guide book that is considered a canning Bible. Ive actually bought a digital version as well as an actual paper book. My favorite things to can is meat. Have fun learning😊
To can jam, you can follow these steps: Prepare jars: Wash and sterilize jars with hot, soapy water and dry them in the oven. If using jars with rubber seals, boil them first. Make jam: Mix fruit, sugar, lemon juice, and salt, then bring to a boil. Fill jars: Ladle the jam into the jars, leaving 1/2-inch of headspace. Seal jars: Wipe the tops of the jars and seal them. Process in a water bath: Using tongs, carefully place the jars into a pot of boiling water, cover, and boil for 10 minutes for 4-12 oz jars or 15 minutes for 16 oz jars. Cool jars: Remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool upright for 12-24 hours. Check for seals: Listen for a "ping" from each jar as the lid seals. You can also lift each jar by its lid to check for a proper seal. If a jar is unsealed, refrigerate it and use it within a month. The acid in jam prevents botulism bacteria from growing, so it only needs to be canned using the boiling water bath method. This method is less intense than pressure canning and doesn't require special equipment
Don’t let canning scare you, it’s super easy especially jellies and jams, since they are done with just water bath canning techniques,, so easy to watch online also a Kerr canning book will take you all the way through it 😊 you can do this ✅💯% 😊 Please only follow approved SAFE canning methods ( not all these “ I do it this way” things that people do) when it comes to food safety it’s important 😊 You’ll do great Carrol !😊
Unless you are in the mountains, you can follow regular canning instructions. I think cooking times are only affected by altitude, like bread too - if you bake with regular times, you're ok.
Canning works very easy. Fill glass jars, clean off lip of jar, put on lid (the flat metal part with seal), and screw on sealer lid. Heat the jars with water to make the air escape from the jar. Let cool first then remove the screw lid and store in the pantry. Center of flat lid should be depressed indicating a vacuum in the jar. You can do this!
Canning reminds me of my great grandmother.. She passed at age 89 when I was like 10, but I remember her home garage had shelves and shelves full of canned foods she’s done over the years. Beats, pickles, peppers, asparagus, eggs… you name it she would can it! ☺️
Carol don't be scared of canning...I did fig preserves and blueberry jam and syrup this year...I use the hot water bath method, it does good for preserves
Canning is easy. Watch videos or get a book. There are also other pieces of equipment you need..large, deep canning pots, and the handles to take the jars out of the pot. Canning is essential when having a large garden. Have fun!
I've used those jars for candle making. I've made them in all different colors with different scents. Recky & Carol will you please do a video of your house decorated for Christmas.
I was very surprised to not see snow on the grass behind you. I know Swedish winters can be pretty bad. No snow on the ground here in my area of Wisconsin either.
if you do not want to use the long method with the machine or hot water bath, I do it this way and never lost a jar so far: you put what you made hot in the jar and seal it shut. After upside down with a dishcloth to cover it, will seal automatically since you will hear a pop. after keep it in cold room.
Someone needs to send her the Ball canning cookbook. Carol there are lots of TH-cam channels that walk you through it step by step for canning don't be scared you'll never know how to do it unless you do it I felt the same exact way and now I'm fine
Here the usual time to send or receive if you didn't give a gift at the party or shower(baby shower or wedding shower or a house warming party, etc...)a new baby gift wedding gifts & be called newlyweds is a YEAR, so I would think the same time would be for sending & receiving house warming gifts. Especially only after 6 weeks, it's still very new & still getting use to the new surroundings & figuring where to put things & fixing things that need ,so hopefully you'll still get house warming gifts for almost 11 months. Then anything after that is just gifts of us wanting u 2 to try things. 🏠📦🎁😸😸😂😍💙💛🙏
Hugs from Oregon. We hope today finds you and yours healthy and in good spirits. Thank you all again for a great great video love the smiles and laughs. Please take care of you. Love from us to you. And for fun Recky you have the wrong shirt on need to send you a DUCKS shirt. Because if Ohio takes out Tennessee in the playoffs they will come up to the Ducks again and like the first time this year we met with them we will win again lol.
I've not used the Navage but have seen very positive reviews for it. I actually use a Neti Pot (was a bit weird the first couple times but have had it for so long it's easy...and it works!). Living Traditions Homestead channel has lots of canning and gardening videos. Love the addition of the red valance on your window. You keep adding more home-y touches. 😊
I'm thinking that on the mats the longest on is in front of the kitchen sink where I put mine, the smallest one in front of either the fridge or bathroom sink, then the one with the gnomes is a door mat. Just my guess though.
Love the t-shirt Recky. Go Buckeyes!! My husband is originally from Ohio, and is a huge fan. Just curious, do yall eat Surstromming? You are going to love the nasal lavage. It really helps a lot! ♥️ from Houston, Texas 🇺🇸🇸🇪
I love my Nivage!! It's like the inside of your head/face got a shower. So awesome. I hope it works for you. I didn't get it for you but I'm excited for you. LOL
Using your nasal irrigation thingy, you may definitely want to skip any medicated irrigation liquids and stick to just sterile saline if you have problems with nose bleeds. Anything but a sterile saline rinse will definitely dry your mucous membranes out and aggravate your nose bleeds. It's just too harsh.
Great analysis, thank you! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

RECKY AND CAROL! With that Navage sinus kit, PLEASE be sure to only use distilled water! You can get very very sick if you use just tap water!
On TH-cam, there’s a video that will teach you how to can. The title is “Canning 101: A Beginner’s Guide (Back to Basics)”
Utube videos are way better than reading for me anyways

@bobbiejojackson9448 Put a new kitchen faucet in all by myself 😂
Definitely give canning a try!! Very enjoyable, especially if produce are from your own garden. Make for tasty, heartfelt gifts too.

You can put a mat outside your door to greet guests and to add a touch of the holidays

My mother had a canning pot that held the ball jars for steaming. It was even metal that works on induction stoves.
❤ from Southern California.

Reckey and Carol hugs love have lovely day!😊
The gnome floor mat would look really cute in front of the bathroom sink 😊
That's what I was thinking. Adorable!
Put one in door or bathroom your rugs rock. Hugs ❤️
That tablecloth is very nice!
Great housewarming gifts!

Long one in front of cupboard and 1 in front of stove perhaps and the gnomes one could be main entrance
Such amazing gifts! Merry Christmas!!❤❤
The kitchen mats match your curtains. 😊 Very nice unboxing.
I love making strawberry jam every summer! It’s an easy process.
Carol don't be scared of canning...I did fig preserves and blueberry jam and syrup this year...I use the hot water bath method, it does good for preserves
Just follow Becky... you can't go wrong. Google has Swedish information on canning.
Google recipes for freezer jam, and you won’t need a canner. Freezer jam is delicious and very simple.
I believe the house warming period is 1 year. Meaning guests have a year to give a gift.
Canning is easy. Watch videos or get a book. There are also other pieces of equipment you need..large, deep canning pots, and the handles to take the jars out of the pot. Canning is essential when having a large garden. Have fun!
I think she got those along with a pressure cooker or 2 😊
What a fabulous housewarming unboxing!! They are so festive💖
Becky on Acres Homestead has videos on Canning.
I'm the same way with smelling new stuff. 😆
Lovely video. 💞

Is it available in Swedish?
Martha Stewart etiquette says housewarming gifts are appropriate within first 3 to 6 months of moving.
Amazon has some really good canning books.I water bath most things although I do have a pressure canner too. Relax it isn't that hard.

Pronounced Na. Vage - a very very exspensive item!
Most of my glass ware is canning jars
You have a choice to buy the gift bag or not when sending a gift, you have to pay extra for the bag…lol my husband uses one of those sinus machines
I'm thinking that on the mats the longest on is in front of the kitchen sink where I put mine, the smallest one in front of either the fridge or bathroom sink, then the one with the gnomes is a door mat. Just my guess though.

Carol love surströmming, Recky not so much but eats it anyway 😅
wow those Navage pots are expensive, Na-Vah-je
My husband and son swear by netty pots. nasal irrigation.
I can attest to the fact that the nasal lavage will cut down on sinus infections.
It's called navage
I love my Nivage!! It's like the inside of your head/face got a shower. So awesome. I hope it works for you.

If Reckys mom knows how to can, mabye she can teach you
Unfortunately she can't, but iallafall figure it out ☺️
Ugh, I can't bring myself to use one of those Navage deals. Even a Neti pot is gross to me. I'll just suffer with my snoring.
