    Thanks to you, I look at scrap wire differently and don't throw it in the trash, but put it in the alley for the scrappers that go by.

    You are such a knowledgeable young man, and really self motivated. Most ppl your age are stuck on the sofa with a game controller in their hands. My Grandfather was a scrapper as well as my own Father when he had time on his days off.
    I sure enjoy your videos 😉

      I have the manual version of this. It's decent but struggles with heavy wire because the wheel design let's it role out. With a rounded bottom design it would be better but all things considered I stripped 1200 or more lbs today. The worst part was having to cut the giant wire casing off by hand because it was just wayyy to big to cut.

    I have the same machine and really like it. I've a couple videos on it. Very easy to adjust and so far no issues. I also am not sponsored and have no affiliate links to it on my channel. I paid for it myself and love it.

    I sure wish I had known about this machine before now, because my dad just died after being an electrician for over 50 years, and we had thousands of pounds of copper wire and we couldn’t strip it to make it worth our time by hand. And we knew we couldn’t burn the coating off. So my brother ended up taking it to the scrap yard and getting the money only from the insulated wire. But it sure would’ve gone far toward his estate for 10 kids that he had to leave behind. Thanks for the investment advice!

    Another informative video Taco! (Your channel is one of my favs for ideas, information, and motivation!) I'm fairly new to scrapping joy. The biggest struggle is learning what type of metal is what type of scrap. Would be interested in a video (or short series) where you focus on separating the same metal (like ferrous) of different types into separate piles and describe what to call them when dropping them at the scrap yard for the best cash-out. The scrapyard where I go gets irritated when I don't separate the different copper, aluminum, or ferrous correctly. I just learned that painted air vent covers and painted fluorescent light housings when called "chip", fetch a slightly higher value than just dirty metal. This inspired my request...even if someone else has done it, I haven't seen their video, and it would be better to have a Taco Stacks video.

    At about 4:30 mins in you say the adjustment wanders. That could be because the lock nut is not engaged. It looks like it is up at the top near the the black knob, wind it down and just tighten it to the bottom one just a mall nip with a Spanner / Wrench should help.

    I noticed you said you keep having to adjust the blade. I think the second tap on blade adjustment on top of the machine is to lock the blade in place so it doesn't unscrew itself or move while its cutting. I would run the tap down to the bottom one and see if it works better.

    So that first con that you said for the backing off, and you have to constantly readjust in order for it to puncture cause sometimes we’ll just have the groove. If you noticed on the handle, there’s a nut at the very top once you find your depth that you’re wanting, you should take the top nut and screw it down all the way to the bottomand tighten it slightly and that way it won’t back out

  • @Papalegba22
    @Papalegba22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should strip the sheathing 1st that way you only adjust for 12 wire and run all 12 then switch to next size. I have the same machine and I will strip up to 16 awg. Only 1 con is that it runs slow. I just cashed in my stock pile back in June 2021 and received $4800.00. It's worth stripping anything 16 awg and bigger. Major score!

    i've seen this type compared to others and it doesn't fair as well, the roller design being flawed, it allows the wire to pop out and roll around the blade on some types of wire, other designs keep the wire tight, and the single wire where you said you had to pull it, that shouldn't happen, that means the rollers aren't gripping properly... and the adjustment settings are cumbersome compared to other designs, they're harder to adjust.

    The wire at 10:39 probably just turned black because it got wet and oxidized a bit.. You could just rub it quick with a wire brush and it would brighten up or just ignore it, the metal yard won't be that picky about a tiny bit in a large container of wire. No need to cut it off. They pay different for strand wire vs solid core.
