Had a 1963 one with the 2.6 & column shift 3 speed automatic when I was 19 in the late 80s, I still remember the reg. no., 734 FXT. The block was cracked so I put a 3.3 Ventora lump in. Watching that video I didn't know they changed the rear lamp clusters on the later ones to incorporate the reversing lights though.

I bought a bright red ‘64 Cresta in ‘72, lovely big cruiser. In the 80’s I bought a bright red ‘80 Granada MK2 2.0GL. Similar size and shape. Loved them both 🥰

This is one English car I would love to have. Super reliable GM mechanicals, and so rare here in this country. And, it is a full-sized car. (I don't like compacts, I like big cars).

My dad had one. I loved that car and enjoyed cleaning it as a boy. 3.3l with powerglide auto, single front seats but still column change. Fascinating features were, the filler cap that poped up when you pressed the leading edge and a horizontal speedo that changed colours of the stripe, green up to 30, orange up to 60 and red after that. I got stopped by the police for doing 110 in it in '77. It was immaculate, they let me off.

My thoughts exactly. You can definitely see the influence of the style of the '61-'64 Chevrolet impala. No surprise seeing it's based on GM's designs of the period.

I had one in the seveties too. A Powerglide if memories serve- Not much at the time could keep up with it to about 50mph either. Great car and great fun.

As a kid I worked in a bodyshop, the manager had a nice personal earner, every Saturday morning this lovely Cresta would turn up to be valeted by us kids and he would "probably"pocket the money. We loved the sound and found out we could rev it up, turn off the ignition for a few seconds, turn it on and the unburned fuel in the exhaust would go bang. Of course we revved it harder and turned it off for longer and longer to get a bigger bang until we overdid it; there was an almighty explosion and it blew the silencer apart like a bean tin, the kid who was in the car at the time reckoned it left the ground - hmmm not sure about that! Anyway we ran away and as far as I know, got away with it!

Used to work on them in the 60s (liked the automatic best though, Powerglide or Hydramatic)

The doors were the same. I believe that FB victor doors would fit the PB velox and cresta.

My first girlfriends dad had one of there in the same colour, 775 FLX was the reg, and whenever saw his car i would quickly go in the opposite direction he was big at 6ft 4" , I also remember the local thug driving one and someone threw a pickax handle through his back window outside the greyhound pub in Dunstable , bet he wasnt a happy bunny, but then he was a real bully, i think his name had longbow similarities , what do you do with a long bow ? We made some good cars pity we no longer do, i went on to own a Ventura FE auto in gold honeymist, a very comfortable car and i think they still look good today, the design stood the test of time.
