Love White Sands and can relate on the heat. Years ago we drove through there and the plastic on the door handles started coming off in my hands because of the heat. Lovely poses
That tripod grabbed my attention, I see it's Oben, haven't seen it before now. Definitely not a travel tripod. Super thick, bulky. so looks like it would be stable.
30 mins? yea that's bad. my Sony A7IV last longer than that, but had a faulty battery at first(suddenly dropping to zero charge, unpredictable recording and shot count before ran out of juice), so the retailer sent me a new one which worked properly. I've not looked into the Canon battery life for photos, but if that's abnormal, the battery is likely faulty. But looked it up 220 still shots on R8. I see Sony a7IV does 580 shots per charge using the rear screen and 520 shots per charge. Usually I can't run out of battery for what I do so far. But if shooting yourself you can flip the screen into the camera to get som more shots. But I don't have to do it.
For this camera you need to buy an L-shaped bracket that allows you to install the camera vertically, and you have so it turns out that the horizon is blocked, creative success to you.
