To be fair with Eddies Diner the 12th Doctor himself says that he was here before with Amy and Rory. It's meant to be the same diner in America, hence the first person that wakes the 12th Doctor up being American.
Minor correction, it isn't supposed to be the same diner (in-universe) but Clara and Ashildr/Me's TARDIS disguised as the diner. Ofc it's the same set tho.
It's absolutely crazy how I would've never noticed most of these if I hadn't read/seen vids about it it's also absolutely bonkers how they managed to transform Wales in basically anything in the universe for New Who (and the amount of quarries for Classic Who is impressive)
@@eastmeetswestpresents6923 The Californian desert is like the gravel quarries: every alien planet is rocky and barren. Filming in Wales is like filming in Vancouver or Georgia
I'm surprised that half this video isn't just stone quarries, and even more so that half of them are just from NuWho with no overlap with the classic series whatsoever.
This is incredible. Only one I noticed is the diner because of how striking and unique it is. And that one had an in-universe acknowledgement of it being the same.
The interesting thing this video reminds: it’s the sign, distinction, of good directing. How to use locations, camera placement, and blocking uniquely as opposed to looking trite. When they look plaino or merely too similar to another episode that’s a more lazy director. And I get that it’s TV but. Rachel Talalay and Hettie Macdonald among others show you can do a whole lot with duct tape and 45 minutes.
0:04 they also used this location for the sarah jane adventures, the episode is called the eternity trap, in part 1 at 8:55 you can see this same location
At 3:14 I think the upper right is miscaptioned, the Silurians were in Hungry Earth/Cold Blood, not in In The Forest of the Night. At 3:39 I don't remember that character being in The Magician's Apprentice, though I'm not sure. But I have to admit that I didn't notice most of these locations being reused. I didn't see Lanzarote Island, did I miss it? That was in Planet of Fire and Kill the Moon.
It's a miracle how they get away with it when there's often no set dressing at all to make the locations look different from one another. And yet we still accept that these are all completely different places!
That’s crazy!😮 It’s amazing what sets and places have been reused for various scenes from the history of the show. You must have put a lot of work into this! Well done!
Not that small, the current series is only just starting to go further afield to parts of Bristol and West Wales, it's just that all of these locations are within an hour's drive from Cardiff so the crew can get there and back without the need for accommodation
i think this shows just how GOOD this show can be with its sets. i would have had no IDEA some of these scenes were all filmed in the same places if i hadnt seen anything about it
Iirc Queen Street also stood in for the area ouside St Paul's where Missy reveals herself as The Master, it's on the corner outside the travelodge next to one of the Queen's Arcade entrances, you can see it in the back of shot when Unit arrive
The early Drs are on the website someone set up for this. I've just moved to Cardiff and am doing a bit of map making for the more up-to-date locations as spot them walking around.
I love how with some you can barely tell it's the same location reused whereas with others it's like "Well that's obviously the same place isn't it?" Also I feel like at this point Doctor Who has filmed in most of Cardiff, it's pretty funny, I love it!
Whoooob's dedication in this video by travelling to every corner of Cardiff is insane
that time they tried to pretend bute park was in the USA, madness

Pretty sure the Rocky Set scenes at 0:43 are meant to be the same place too. Amazing dedication, nonetheless

So Wales is like the Californian desert then as a popular filming location?
@@eastmeetswestpresents6923Don't know, as I'm not American lol

I was always curious about where the cafe from "The Bells of St John" was. Thanks for this!
The BBC has 5 actors, 12 locations, and all of them are used in Doctor Who

i believe the fountain at dyffryn gardens is also in an episode of the sarah jane adventures to my memory
0:41 Wild that this two-parter starts and ends on the same beach
Ah yes, the National Musium of Wales, and Swansea Guildhall classic doctor who locations!

This is incredibly well done, been waiting for something like this. Happy to have been to quite a few of these locations!
Even did a month of Work Experience at Aberthaw Power Station! 7:19
I stayed the night at the place Tooth & Claw was filmed once, the place is pretty spooky
I find it weird I go to most of these locations everyday 😂
Excellent compilation, just wish there was a comparison of the different times the Cybermen have marched on St. Paul

St Paul's Cathedral in The Invasion and Dark Water/Death In Heaven too.
Well, I suppose Wales is quite a small country.

THANK YOU! Been trying to find a video like this for ages
I have to watch this on 0.5 speed to take in all the information lol
So if we’ll add here also Torchwood & SJ adventures....)
I recognised a lot of these when I watched through the whole series recently
Awesome video. Nice to find a true fan.
i can't believe that so many of these places are locations i know from cardiff and ive just never noticed some of them lmao

Yep, Doctor who is definitely a british Tokusatsu

google thinks this says “twitter twitter” in another language.
i had to pause alot, amazing video

Great video, but unfortately quite a few mistakes. The castle in Robot of Sherwood for example was Caerphilly Castle rather than Bodiam Castle.
Gotta love how half the alien planets in classic who somehow strongly resembled a disused british quarry.
Can you show the map of the locations? Wonder make it myself if don't care and if I can
The early Drs are on the website someone set up for this. I've just moved to Cardiff and am doing a bit of map making for the more up-to-date locations as spot them walking around.
I think theres a map online already which pictures. I used about 5 years back when I flew over to the UK!
And going back to Classic Era, it's that bloody rock quarry. :)
Awesome vod
OH MY GOSH IS THAT CASSANDRA'S THEME I HEAR??
Ah, yes, the "Temple of Peace" having to be filled with paraphernalia for "Let's off the bad Austrian painter" 3:13
I only live a five minute drive from Clearwell caves!
OMG

Ah yes the episode 9th said Fantastic I don’t want to go 😂😂😂
Classic who really liked quarries, hood lord
