N64 Longplay: Mario Kart 64

- There will be another part to this for Extra Cup. I decided I wanted to do at least one normal Longplay, so I did it on Mario Kart 64, I love Racing games, and as far as walkthroughs/lets plays/longplays go, the Racing genre is severely under represented.

It's a classic, anyone that has a N64 should have this game.
That reminds me to get my N64 out of the attic and hook it up to the TV and start playing Mario Kart.

Yep, actually a very useful and important thing to use in this. I admit I get by without using it quite often as I did here but still should be used.

Ahh..I wasn't born in the generation of gamers that had the SNES and N64s, but my older cousin has an N64, and I LOVE this game. Heck, some of the tracks on this game are even better than tracks on the newer Mario Kart games, though every Mario Kart track is good in its own way. Great video, I enjoyed skimming through it (lol I didn't have time to watch the whole thing xD)
That's fine, I never expected everyone to be able to watch the entire thing. I do the same myself with really long longplays I watch.

Science Of Success Never heard anyone say that about a longplay video before, let alone any of the ones I have done hahaha. I just find them fun to do myself, it does take a long time to record, and render, and then upload though.

Science Of Success I have some other longplays still up I have done, but I really don't do full playthroughs in general anymore. Not to say there wouldn't never be, just don't don't plan on it anymore.

I played my 64 for the first time in years... I've been moving constantly the past few years, and this is the first time I've had all my equipment unpacked at the same time (my TV, game, controls, and 64 itself). I have to be honest and say, I suck. I used to be awesome at this game. I hardly ever lost, but tonight I never ranked higher than second place. #Disgraced
I've only been playing this game for ten years, which compared to most of the mario fans, isn't much at all. I'd like to say I'm a huge fan, but I'm not in terms of merchandice. I've never played any of the wii games. Yes, I own the first two original super mario lands (super mario land 1 and 2), and of course the original mario kart, and I own MarioKart8 (Holy crap, you have no idea how big of a shock it was to go from 1996 animation to 2011 animation. I started crying, it was incredible! And the FLYING!? Oh my goodness.), but that's it. As I said before, I have never played the wii games like mario party, super mario world, or any of that. Which I'm disappointed, because I'm sure with some practice I could kick butt and have fun doing it. But, whatever. Some day when I can actually afford a wii, as well as some games, I shall have a match with my brother. Teehee.
This video really made my day though. Soooooo many memories.

Its called "rubber band A.I.", and its in every racing game where you have opponent racers, nothing new. Some games are better or worse about it, this one is somewhere in-between, which is good. Its also because I am great at driving and racing games too lol.

I've just played this game, way too much, it's not really a challenge for me to pull that off for, a long long time.
I probably could still do it even though I haven't played the game for, some years now way too many other games taking up my attention and time.
Mario Kart for n 64 is the best old car racing game
Personally I can't agree that it's "the best" of them all, but on its own still a great one and still is now.

Because I was bored at that point and I just wanted to, all there is to it. Wasn't silly, it was intentional, I do that often, especially with the green shells, I was guaranteed to win at that point anyway as you could see.
Like my past self would ever keep one of those, let alone its box...

Bowser was the best in my opinion.
This is my favorite Mario Kart game also. 4 player madness.
Was awesome back in 1997, and I think it aged well. Kind of fun despite having no track editor. But this was 17 years ago. Quite frankly it just doesn't cut it today just having 16 tracks, especially when not having a track editor.
I still play it now and then, a good game is a good game forever as I say. You do know there are some games that only have three tracks at most? Hell a game called Tokyo Xtreme Racer, the first one, only has two technically! An Inner and Outer highway route! So not all racing games have a vast number of tracks... just saying.

Thank you for this. I actually used Toad in this game. A LOT. it was either Toad or DK for me. Even though I did beat the game(all cups including mirror) with every character at least once.
No problem, this was probably the last longplay I will be able to do consequently due to all the changes on YT recently. but this was a fun one to do.
I have done all the cups on all the CCs with every character multiple times over the years, couldn't begin to estimate how much time I have put into this overall.

Mario is good and balanced, but isn't the fastest, he's in the middle of the road really, a all-rounder, as most of the middle weight class is in this.

+AliceShinya Already answered this multiple times now in the comments if you look. But one more time... it's because I was slightly bored and I didn't want them. That's all. And sometimes its funny to see if they bounce back off the walls and hit one of the other racers. Although obviously it can and will hit you too so no its not a good thing to do. I was just messing around.
+KITT171 sorry didn't see that in the comments you answered. What I like to do is keep a banana or shells as long as possible until it's useful for protection.
It's okay, yeah I know its a stupid thing to do but it amuses me in a small way so I'm just used to doing it in this is all.

In my opinion,I don't like the pre-rendered graphics for the karts.They seem a bit weird.But the tracks are awesome
+Royce Yeah it is kind of weird but I can understand why they went with that for this and Super Circuit for the GameBoy Advance as well. It gets to a point where you don't even really notice it much anymore as you are playing.

I feel that way about F-Zero GX, still trying to get that one again I just either can't find it anywhere, or if I do its never for a decent price hahaha. I will eventually though. I am not sure, but I think this is on the eShop for the Wii U, if it is and you have a U, you could get it that way. I know it was on the Wii's VC. Or get a N64 again, then there are emulators, best advice I can give really.
