Because we're friends, I'm gonna forgive what you say about the OEM DC controller lol - I was pulling off infinites in MvC2 with ease on it back in my heyday FYI, both Amingo and Ruby Heart (as well as the boss Abyss) are completely original characters for MvC2 👍 Nice review! Inwas lucky to have a pair of the original wired versions gifted to ne by a good friend, and they truly are fantastic. BTW, what are tour thoughts on the Octopus Arcade Stick? It's essentially a new gen Agetec Dreamcast Arcade Stick, which is a wonderful thing
I've got one and I think it's pretty great so far - the main problem of the wired one was that the plastic was very thin around the hole where the VMU screen shows through and could crack easily. Of course that has been eliminated in this wireless version. I am also really looking forward to getting my Hunter wireless OG Xbox controller from them but it has been delayed and no word if we will still be getting it in January yet.
They're great controllers, I just got the black one about a month ago. The triggers have been improved over the wired StrikerDC. I had to send my wired StrikerDC back for a replacement before since one of the triggers just popped out during gameplay. The wireless one I haven't had any issues with though, it feels like a Xbox one S controller, very nice. I like that the VMU doesn't go in the controller and doesn't weigh down your hands (no need for the jump pack either), makes it nice and lightweight.
Really cool looking controllers! Man I have freakish big hands though and I love the original controller plus I love seeing the VMU in the controller, definitely some slick looking controllers though!

I tried one for a few days now. Like the wireless dock for the VMU and the controller felt alright. It's not a controller you wanna using for fighting games and its not mapped perfectly with every game I noticed. Deal breaker was the triggers and bumpers for me they feel super flimsy and kept reading that they tend to break. Joystick was fine but like the triggers felt kinda flimsy too. D-pad is ok and the buttons are a little to punchy. Overall its not the worst but for $50 bucks I expect better compared with company's like 8bitdo out there making controllers. Really if they did away with the triggers (I don't know why they needed both bumpers and triggers on this) and made the bumpers and stick a little stronger it would be better. At the moment its the only Dreamcast controller out with a Wireless VMU dock. I would say just get a DC/Saturn Brooks adapter which can act as a VMU with 240 blocks of memory and you can connect anything to it wired or wireless.
With the VMU not on the controller itself you lose so much when you play someone else in games like nfl 2k putting play selection on the controller. It’s such a key detail in gameplay that would get missed with this controller. I always found the wiring awkward but overall a really solid controller. Also, the Dreamcast controller can hold a VMU plus a memory card. This doesn’t have that. I also wonder if your moves in some of the games could be a timing issue of the wireless input of the controller? Aka input lag?
Funny! I bought this controller two days ago on amazon, i'm getting it today! 🤘😄🤘. I am rediscovering games on my dreamcast. I cannot wait to get my hands on the Retrofighter Hunter, for the OG Xbox .. Supposedly it was coming out last monday, but so far nothing yet 😢
I think you're in for a treat with the StrikerDC Wireless! It's been really nice. :) I haven't gotten my hands on the Hunter yet, either, but I hope I'm able to!
how do the triggers and stick handle themselves with racing games ? i've always found dreamcast games to be almost unplayable because of the controller, never felt it confortable nor precise enough for that...

Do you have to hold the button down to make them dash? I think you can just hit and they go. I finally finished all the puzzles a couple of years ago. It's a great game. NFL2K1 was the last football game that I really enjoyed. 2K made some good stuff for the Dreamcast. I recorded some plays on the VCR if I could only find that tape. lol I have the wired strike controller and it is a nice upgrade to a modern style. I'll have to keep the wireless controller in mind for the future.
In defense of the original controller, it has hall effect sticks just like the Saturn 3D pad, and people these days are begging for hall effect sticks on OEM controllers since they drift so hard you can hear "ROLLING STAAAAAAAAART!" whenever you pick one up. SEGA got this right if you ask me. And I know people slate the sticks for their "mushroom shape" but the Dualshock also has mushroom-shaped sticks on all dualshocks prior to the Dualshock 4, so it ain't that bad.

Man, this looks like a really nice controller and I have a confession to make. I have never played a Dreamcast game. We didn't have one growing up and I really need to remedy that this year. This would make the experience a lot better I think so I'll have to keep that in mind. I give my son heck about not wanting to play PlayStation games because he hates the controller...... Boy am I a hypocrite 😂😂😂

I know they make great products and I'm glad this is quality but honestly you lost me with the controller missing the vmu slot. Not enough games really utilized it but the games that did it was awesome having those visuals like health meters literally at your finger tips

Ya know with that extra empty space they should have put 6 face buttons on there. Map the extra 2 buttons as L and R.
