WRC Generations is actually the best rally sim on the market right now but with a big asterisk... you need to download the Rikki Sim's mod for better handling which transforms this game into something truly special... there are also ways to mod damage to be more punishing and force you to be more careful if that's a thing you like... and the second asterisk is that if you're looking for retro rallying with cars of the 70s, 80s FWD, RWD etc, Kilotonn games are not your cup of tea... And finally Dirt Rally 2.0... is it a fantastic game for it's time? Yes it is... is it realistic? Eh... kinda but kinda not... it's that all time classic "almost"... the cars slide a little bit too much, especially at low speeds, the cars feel a little bit too light and weightless at times, the powersliding is a little bit too easy without requiring much speed to do it... but it all feels amazing to drive no matter what... but here's now the big kicker... THE STAGES SUCK... the stages are by far the worst out of all these games... they're too arcady, they clearly show they're fictional (Kilotonn's games also have fictional stages but they "feel real") and overall I have a very hard time going back to them after experiencing EA WRC stages and Kilotonn's WRC Generations stages... So, I'll tell you this... want the best feeling on a modern rally car? WRC Gen with mods... want good driving feeling and the best, most detailed FFB on the biggest variety of cars and good stages? The EA WRC games ARE made by Codemasters. They should make them 3 years apart and not every year, you could do a season dlc for the old version if you need to steal money from gamers.
@@CouchCoop128 I should elaborate a little now that it's not 3AM lol I do have a full Sim Setup with some fairly high end and boutique gear. Generally all games will detect the multiple input devices but it can be a pita to set everything up in some games. You'll also notice that all of the games mentioned in the video are heavily geared towards controller use over wheel and pedals. Naturally that's due to the far larger part of the audience on gamepads or MKB even. Force Feedback wise, WRC10 was the most realistic so far and the tarmac physics especially are very good and the gravel actually feels like gravel and not glue. I did not play Generations but supposedly it's a step back. There's no way EA will get any more money from me so EA WRC is off the table. WRC 9 was decent enough as well. Now, DR2.0.. it looks great, the stages are fantastic and the driving feels 'coherent' but it's all kinds of wrong. Gravel feels like glue. How anyone can even argue it's the most realistic out of all of these is beyond me. DR2.0's pace notes are also a bit weird to me, they lack information and some call choices like 'unseen' instead of 'blind' and other things like that keep throwing me off. FFB and wheel setup options in general n all these games are limited at best and lackluster on average. it's not clear what some options do and no matter how you set the games up it never feels quite right in any of them. Richard Burns Rally (RSFRBR) on the other hand just works. load the game up, set up your inputs and you're off to the races - literally. Thanks to constant updates and physics reworks it feels absolutely impeccable, the only downside are the admittedly dated visuals and sound on some cars. Last but not least I want to mention that I dislike the story or 'career' modes in these games, I don't want to play a damn RPG I just want to race. The only things I want from my rally games in terms of content are a decent car and stage selection and the option to do single stages as well as custom championships. Maybe a Hillclimb mode like in DR1 or Dirt3 or whichever it was. They called it 'Trailblazer' or something like that back then.
the issue is Hybrid era in this year WRC isnt fun at all and 24 is just EA WRC 23 with skin change hope that next regulation change comes in thats where cars felt different
Lucky to be able to play DIRT 2.0 in VR with reasonable settings on a medium/high end PC and a Direct Drive Wheel. Oh wow.... compared to screen its a revolution for me. WRC24 is still hard to run on VR without a maxed out PC and still so buggy. Oh codemasters why, oh EA ;)
This is a great insight..this explains the Dirt 2.0 preference i see with VR and wheels etc. 'EA Sports its in the game WRC' desperately needs optimising i think. Ill be doing a stand alone ps5 review shortly
Just use some cheap headset if you’re annoyed with the controller sounds. I’ve found it to be much better and less distracting when it’s not coming from your hands. Great vid tho 👍🏼
Ok oke, wait, i have bought EA Sports WRC in the steam sale last christmas including dlc, was 20 euro's, but i have a 3thd gen Intel I7 with a 1080TI 12GB with 32GB Ram and everything on ultra, but it runs abbove expetedly good on a system of 12 years old. I find it verry odd to hear people say that it runns not smooth on their system who is more newer then mine. RDR2 and Hogwarts Legasy, same, runns fine on max settings. And now i hear there is a RTX 5080 released, probbably everyone want a 50's series now, but if it is worth the money.... But sorry for that, i love the video you have made!
I think i have a terrible processor, may even be an i5. I want to give the game a chance on the ps5 , i had the same thing with Lords of the fallen. never apologise to me, : ) i appreciate the comment, that RTX tho
Nice video. Has got me interested in picking up WRC generations if cheap enough. Not sure if I misunderstood what you're saying, but to clarify... Dirt Rally 2.0 - Codemasters (2019) WRC 10 - Kyloton (early 2022) WRC Generations - Kyloton (late 2022) EA WRC - Codemasters (2023) EA WRC 24 expansion pack - Codemasters (2024) I personally don't think it's got into the 'Madden' cycle of things due to it changing developers. It was strange as when EA WRC first came out it got such great reviews. Now I see a lot of YTers hating on it. Might be a controversial opinion but I play on PC using Fanatec equipment, wheel+pedals and 32" triple screens and much prefer EA WRC to anything else that has come before (inc. DR2). The game is beautiful on ultra settings. Appreciate you don't have the space but you seem like such a big rally fan, you deserve your own space to start your SIM rig 👍🏼
For me the grass poping in eawrc is just unacceptable. If I was envolved with some lead role at the production theres no wat I would let that slip through. Theres of course other issues, but this one is just simply unbelievable for me
When talking about WRC Generations, you sounded disappointed that the current top tier cars only consisted of the Puma, Yaris and i20. No fault of the game, the real WRC top tier WRC1 only has three manufacturers. The current state is a far cry of the glory days of mid-end of 90s, where you had Mitsubishi, Subaru, Ford, Toyota, SEAT, Peugeot, Citroen and Skoda. As for the game naming conventions, as someone else said within the comments, the current EA release is just WRC, their idea is to release yearly DLC updates with that years liveries and maybe some new stages etc. It won't go down the Madden/FIFA(FC)/F1 yearly titled release. The previous releases, WRC-WRC 10 and Generations, were different developers. Codemasters prior to the EA buyout were developing Dirt Rally 3 following on from DR2.0, when EA purchased them and they got the official rights, it changed course to be the official title. The Dirt Rally series was the 'sim' series, as opposed the the DiRT series which was more arcade. The change to EA WRC, they pulled back from sim to simcade, to grab a larger audience. They were worried that a full sim style was put off a large portion of potential players.
EA WRC is a decent game, but I find the stage quality to be much inferior to WRC 9, 10 and Generations and because of that I just can't get into it. It's also missing the Super Special Stages that KT's has. Hopefully they'll just keep improving the game in updates, but right now I'll just keep it on hold. And the same goes for Dirt Rally 2. It's a step above EA's WRC but the stages are too simplistic, so I play it mostly for Rallycross or driving historical cars. If I could only pick and play 2 games, it would be WRC 9 and DR2.
Codemasters should never have teamed up EA sports. Two updates and I’m still stuck on the same event that continues to crash every time I try to either play the stage or quit out of it. Will never buy any EA title after this shit shower
Same issue for me. New and very, high spec PC but the game crashes on the same stage in career-mode every single time. Long loading times (sometimes 5 mins) and glitches between stages on other modes. I've tried absolutely EVERYTHING possible to fix it. I've given up and gone back to Dirt 2.0. I play in VR with a quest 3, None of my other games have this issue, they all run fine. EA is a joke - very poor optimization.
If Dirt Rally 2.0 sucked less on wheel and pedals, maybe it would be better. However, they are entirely incapable of getting the force feedback right. It's as if the game devs drive a lorry with sand bags in the steering rack
When Codemasters got the WRC licence I was happy; DR2 is a great game… so I was hoping for basically the same game, with new stages and WRC class cars… but what they delivered was far worse than DR2…. Apart from the graphics downgrade (which I honestly can live with; it’s not that bad), the problem is that the stages are boring (I know; a lot of them are based on real roads, well, they picked some boring roads) and worst of all; the car physics is dumbed down so it just feels boring to play… I jumped on DR2 just last night and it is so much more involving; you really feel like you’re throwing a car down a dirt track in DR2… I want to like EA WRC so much… but it’s just so… “meh”….
EA WRC 2024 has a serious problem with tarmac physics; the car snaps even at low speed despite adjustments, the force feedback is terrible, and you can't read the car properly, so you can't react. EA said that Codemasters team was behind EA WRC, but I can't feel any of Dirt 2.0 under the hood. Dirt 2.0 and EA WRC feel away from each other in every aspect.
Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC are my favorites. I'm using a Fanatec Wheel, pedals, and handbrake setup on PS5. The wheel and pedals offer much more range, allowing more finesse. I use sequential shifting via paddle shifters to take advantage of using engine breaking. As far as graphics, I use the cockpit view and was not disappointed with either game. Trying out WRC 9, 10, and Generations, however, was disappointing after playing the other two. The sound and graphics were not as pleasing, and the wheel support was weak at best, not providing much feel of road details or traction loss whatsoever.

@ The Prodrive had the 240bhp chip and the 0-60 was about 5sec dead. The STi was chipped to 325bhp and had a turbo timer, fastest 0-100km (62mph) was 3.79sec (just me on board). I worked with a guy with a Red 4WD Delta, fab machine, shit electrics.

EA Sports WRC is the best WRC game. FFB, handling, sound, a lot of cars to play and stages. Is still missing some features but still the best. Unreal Engine is not their strength but they made the right decision to keep updating the game.
I've not played WRC 10, but own WRC 8,9, Generations, plus the latest EA sports WRC I found WRC 8, 9 to be the best overall, I'm going for WRC 9 It's great in every aspect, though it could do with better engine sounds
Apart for washed up visuals, its deffinitely best with handlling, physics and FFB. Stages are nice and can be rly long. But as in video, i hate how there is no quick play for stage (you have to create quick championship) and some other things. SHame that it looks so bad compared to Dirt Rally 2 in terms of visuals, but its much superior in handling. BUt in the end, i have wheel setup and i just drive in RBR RSF, bcs its on entirely different level. Shame games like these are so niche today, that noone will make it up to this level.
@@tlap1508 I will try to make it short, because this all opinions and taste. But for me the main thing is you can play a full championship at any time, or create your own championship in quick play mode, the older WRC games don't have that. I think quick play is easy and quick to set, if not time trial is the best way. But the thing EA WRC has that none of the others games have or is not so well introduced is stage degradation. This feature is key in rally and you can feel it, a championship or full rally is the best way to play the game, a quick time trial doesn't give you that.

They called it 'Trailblazer' or something like that back then.
the issue is Hybrid era in this year WRC isnt fun at all and 24 is just EA WRC 23 with skin change
hope that next regulation change comes in thats where cars felt different
This is great advice, appreciated
Dirt Rally 2 is still the best.
Nice video. Has got me interested in picking up WRC generations if cheap enough.
Not sure if I misunderstood what you're saying, but to clarify...
Dirt Rally 2.0 - Codemasters (2019)
WRC 10 - Kyloton (early 2022)
WRC Generations - Kyloton (late 2022)
EA WRC - Codemasters (2023)
EA WRC 24 expansion pack - Codemasters (2024)
I personally don't think it's got into the 'Madden' cycle of things due to it changing developers.
I’m going to standalone review EA WRC on the PS5, my PC is not up to scratch, appreciate comment ‘madden’ was a bit harsh in hind sight
For me the grass poping in eawrc is just unacceptable. If I was envolved with some lead role at the production theres no wat I would let that slip through. Theres of course other issues, but this one is just simply unbelievable for me
so its not a power issue? everyone has that ? its horrendous
@CouchCoop128 In any quality level 😫
RallyFans Richard Burns rally number 1 for me , dirt rally 2.0 number 2 for me , both the best u can play!
They were worried that a full sim style was put off a large portion of potential players.
appreciate that detailed comment, the 3 choice is a consequence of time trails i think? this whole video is just a dirt 2.0 promo 🤣🙏
Codemasters had the rights for wrc befpre ea bought them
wrc generations is not an ea game only the latest one is also wrc 10 did NOT have hybrid because it was made before the change in the rules
apparently no hybrids in the up coming ! Greta will not be happy
Amazing Rally Cross Tracks with AI racers and decent historic cars with decent engine recording and its $7 dollars as appose to 70
Dirt Rally 2.0 best rally game in VR.
appreciate comment
Codemasters should never have teamed up EA sports. Two updates and I’m still stuck on the same event that continues to crash every time I try to either play the stage or quit out of it. Will never buy any EA title after this shit shower
i wonder if Codemasters even had a choice on that buy out, ...what system are you on with EA WRC?
Same issue for me. New and very, high spec PC but the game crashes on the same stage in career-mode every single time. Long loading times (sometimes 5 mins) and glitches between stages on other modes. I've tried absolutely EVERYTHING possible to fix it. I've given up and gone back to Dirt 2.0.
I play in VR with a quest 3, None of my other games have this issue, they all run fine. EA is a joke - very poor optimization.
Glad I didnt bought Wrc. Its not Even good. Stopped paying for EA years Ago, never again 😂
comes to sound EA WRC/DR2 is just pure joy and imo EA WRC has more car variety then dr2.0 too
Hey! There are no more hybrids in WRC25, hope they change the game to 👍
Greta's going to be gutted... boinggg
They will... In November 😂😂
Boing!
Not a rally fan, but I'm a big fan of my wheel/pedal setup.
Couldn't play my Euro Truck simulator without it.
Ahhhh ok, I’ve seen a few people stream that. Boiinngg
ea sports wrc throttle feels so strange. its like as soon as you're off the gas you're going through molasses. does it feel that way for anyone else?
If Dirt Rally 2.0 sucked less on wheel and pedals, maybe it would be better. However, they are entirely incapable of getting the force feedback right. It's as if the game devs drive a lorry with sand bags in the steering rack
When Codemasters got the WRC licence I was happy; DR2 is a great game… so I was hoping for basically the same game, with new stages and WRC class cars… but what they delivered was far worse than DR2…. Apart from the graphics downgrade (which I honestly can live with; it’s not that bad), the problem is that the stages are boring (I know; a lot of them are based on real roads, well, they picked some boring roads) and worst of all; the car physics is dumbed down so it just feels boring to play… I jumped on DR2 just last night and it is so much more involving; you really feel like you’re throwing a car down a dirt track in DR2… I want to like EA WRC so much… but it’s just so… “meh”….
i think some of it has to do with external car camera...cant speak for VR, but Dirt 2.0 for the win !🙏
Speaking of legendary Pugs, I have a mint low mileage 205 1.9 GTi (Miami blue) in my garage 😉
ah man, 😲😲
Awesome, I have the 106 GTi and love it so much
Speaking of cars my friend used to own an original Peugeot 205 1.9 dimma it was a beauty it got named the blue fluffy cloud
EA ruins everything it touches.
Rbr rsf > other rally games
I followed Colin and loved the Impreza so much I bought a UK Turbo in 1993, a full Prodrive in 1996 and a batshit crazy STi Version 3 TypeR in 1998…. Then she divorced me so the money ran out 😂😂😂😂😂🤦♂️
boinggng 🫷🤣🤣 ...what was that 0-60 in the prodrive in 96..
just you in it etc ? My flat mate bought a Lancia delta in the early 2000s, deep cherry red, it was gorgeous. Never started again after he parked it outside
@@amnril i think its safe to say 'you're lucky to still be alive young man'
@ no shit Sherlock, my dad was a rubbish rally driver in the 1970’s and he’d drive us to school in his Mk 1 Escort BDA engined RS1600, no back seats, we’d hang on to the roll cage for dear life as he hooned it like a lunatic through the lanes 😂😂😂🤦♂️
@@amnril that sounds like an actual childhood bro, I had a Honda ZX 50 motorbike at 6yrs old...and an air rifle, that I'd sling over on my back with a piece of string. we got lucky, the new guys, I'm not so sure about
EA Sports WRC is the best WRC game. FFB, handling, sound, a lot of cars to play and stages. Is still missing some features but still the best. Unreal Engine is not their strength but they made the right decision to keep updating the game.
its unreal engine 4 right ? i need to look at the ps5 version ASAP
@@CouchCoop128 yep
I've not played WRC 10, but own WRC 8,9, Generations, plus the latest EA sports WRC
I found WRC 8, 9 to be the best
overall, I'm going for WRC 9
It's great in every aspect, though it could do with better engine sounds
I find them really hard to drive with a controller after using a wheel for years now and having to go back to a controller from my sim rig setup. I prefer wrc generations tracks and feel it has a better sense of speed.
did you notice my 'on off' throttle...there's very little in between, 🤣 appreciate comment
I like EA WRC :p
ill be looking at the ps5 version shortly, what's the news on the pad noise ?
it's painful watching you use automatic shifting in a rally game
I have a lot of special rally needs 🤣. The acceleration also, is just on/off ...there’s no in between
Downloaded wrc 24 the other week, did one stage and deleted it. Absolutely awful.
ea happened
''Its in the game''
Unreal engine….is the beginning of the mistake.
yep...
Man, just buy yourself the Thrustmaster T300RS, playing with a gamepad is pointless!
Helemaal goed

Wrc series sucks...get Dirt 1 & 2. 😅
The old wrc games are great, anything by codedisasters are shitte...
Old code master game were good, Dirt2 still a great game……wish a little bit more of a career mode, but I stilllove it
Electric cars are killing motorsports.
