Girl I have to say. I used to be a Personal Banker for 8 years and worked away from home 45 hours each week and that (to me) was much harder than being a SAHM (which I am right now). Not only did I have to work outside of the home but then had to come and do all the chores at home as well & I have 3 children!
Melissa Freeman Thank you!!! And Bri, you must have forgotten about the two other types of Mama's out here- Working Single Moms with no break after work at night at all same as Military Moms. They work 24/7. I know so many. I was also both a married at home Mama, then went through divorce. It is way more difficult working 9 hour days, then being the only one in charge of children all night. It just is. If ppl were never single or Military Mama's, they could not compare. It's that different.
I think we all put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, have a perfect house, be a perfect parent, and look perfect. In reality we are all our own version of perfect and doing what is perfect for our families. It just doesn’t always look the same from family to family. Good job all you beautiful mommas!!!!
You speak directly to me when you said it's way more draining being a stay at home mom, because it truly is!! For the longest time I thought something was wrong with me that I felt so emotionally drained all the time. Then I realized when I went back to work, I felt way less drained and emotional. But everything will be okay! Some mom's thrive off of their kids. Then others, like myself, don't always feel that way. Just take it one day at a time 😊❤
I've never been a full-time stay at home momma. I've worked FT outside of the home and I've worked from home as well. I can say, hands-down, that being a full-time stay at home momma is NOT for me. It's seriously so freaking hard and exhausting that I just feel like I am a better mommy and wife when I work. I have two babies under two and for all the mommies out there that stay home with kiddos who are under school-aged......you're all rock stars. Being a working mommy presents its own unique challenges but at least I get some time alone to sit, have a meal uninterrupted during lunch, and have a commute home that is relaxing. Mom guilt is real though, for me, with working outside of the home. I think you have mom guilt either way, but, working outside of the home manifests that guilt in other ways. Point being, being a mommy is rewarding but very hard in any case. Loved this video!!
I hope to God that I will be a mom who want to work outside of home because I know I cant stay home. If anyone would it would be my husband, I make a lot more $. I'm scared that I will want to stay home more than anything and cant. :(
I have 3 kids ages 4,3,2 and I’ve done both and in my opinion being a stay at home mom is way harder cause you don’t get breaks, you don’t get a minute to yourself, you may not get to eat until dinner, it gets harder when they don’t take naps anymore. When working you don’t have a kid tugging on you and you get breaks and a lunch break, you socialize with other adults! Stay at home parent depression is a true thing, and in my opinion you need more reassurance as a stay at home mom because you don’t get the socializing you would as a working mom
Kayla Selph your so Right about everything. I have a 15,5,4,1 I have 4! I thought my 5 and 4 year old would get better but they haven’t and at this point I can’t wait to start working. It’s too overwhelming
I loved the chat girl. I think any mama watching your channel, working or not, can relate to something you said. IT IS SO HARD being a mama and we set such high bars for ourselves and it’s OK if some days those bars aren’t met. Keep up the good work love. You’re doing an awesome job.
Definitely relate to the expectations vs. reality of how much you get done! I used to teach first grade and alllllways said, we’ll if I was a sahm I would have closets organized, and my house spotless all the time because I wouldn’t be laminating, planning and grading after hours. Now that I’m staying home, I feel like I’m falling short and often times not having the motivation to do things at night because I’m still exhausted. It’s definitely not an easy job, but I for sure enjoy this short, valuable time with my kids (when they’re not being little shits)!
Love this! I have always said this as well :) I’m a teacher/mama to a 1 and 4 year old and i too agree that i need a more compartmentalized day to parent, work, and be with my family. It keeps me sane! With that being said, teaching is WONDERFUL in that i get three months with them in the summer and lots of breaks throughout the year to be a MOM! Truly the perfect balance for me! Thanks for bringing this to light!
I LOVE hearing your thoughts on this!! I’m also a working mom and I’ve constantly gone back and forth about staying at home vs working! It seems like it’s a constant internal battle that a lot of moms have. Some days I want to be at work and some days I want to be at home! I don’t know what I want! Lol. I love working and my job but it’s also so hard to leave my daughter every single morning. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! ❤️
Working mom vs stay at home you can’t really compare because me being a working mom I get up at 6am work 9 hours I do get an hour lunch and that one hour is my free time because I work hard i work I’m in accounting/administration then go home hug her play with her for a minute cook dinner, clean up do dishes play with her some more then bath time, get her ready for bed clean her room while we play haha read time, and maybe put on a cartoon movie while I clean the living room or wash a load of clothes and then put her to bed and get my stuff ready for work the next day. Us as moms all have the same mommy chores clean, dishes, laundry, lawn, windows, floors, bathroom, grocery shopping. And play and raise our mini me’s. For me personally I only get 5 hours of sleep a night. I think we just need to support each other because we all have little ones to make better people lol 💗💗💗
I love my daughter and cherish my time with her. But I do think for some of us, working motherhood provides us with a better balance, sense of self, and makes us better mamas and people. I have tried both and agree - being a SAHM was far more difficult for me mentally, physically and emotionally, and I am so much better for my family since returning to work (even though it is still a challenge!).
Omg!! Your children are adorable!! I am a stay at home mom of 2 kids. Our son is 26 and autistic. He is an incredible young man and works at the high school where he graduated from. He works as a custodial assistant. He love to please people and has taught us a lot about love, compassion, caring. He has a huge heart and doesn't meet a stranger. I am privileged to be able to stay at home and I wouldn't change it for the world. My home isn't perfect, but it is full of love. Dusting and vacuuming get put on hold sometimes and I have learned that is ok. "A house is built by hands but a home is built with love." You are an amazing mother and I adore your love for your family, your sweet spirit, and your beautiful heart.
I've done both and a working mom is much harder hands down. The stress a person endures all day and then having to come home to take care of the household is hard.
Thank you for your transparency about this. I have also been home with my daughter this summer as I transition between jobs. And I so relate to everything you said. I did NOT expect to feel MORE chaotic while staying at home vs working full time. Definitely so rewarding, but hard. Loved this chat!
You are doing a fabulous job and the best part of you and this channel and the way you live your life is that you are so real and so relatable. It’s very refreshing! Much love xx
on your to do list. Add play with Landon and also play with Presley. then you have something to check off when nothing else gets done in a day. It always makes me feel better to accomplish something in the day too but play is work for the kiddo's. you both get something out of play. Hang in there.
People are most funny when they're not even trying to be funny. Seeing how serious Adam was about those Amazon purchases was freaking hilarious 😂🤣😂 I need a video just of him showing a bizarre amazon haul ! "I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS IS FUNNY 😐" LMFAOO
Love this video and your honestly! Before I had my son who is 10 months, I had a leadership position in a large corporation- working 60 hours+ a week. Then we decided I would stay home to raise my son. I thought it was going to be easy! Like you said- the mental and physical shift is the hardest transition. It’s all about our own experiences, and having other mommas out there to relate to (like you) is super helpful. Hope you have a great summer with your babies!
I love how honest you are in this SAHM topic. I’m a stay at home mom and and my husband is a commercial pilot. I feel very frustrated most days when I can’t get nothing done in the house. My husband is always gone... most days I have to remember that Gods grace is sufficient for me and That i need to let go.
I lost my job when my kids were in kindergarten and first grade and it was such a blessing. I realized how much I was missing. I was then able to find something 10 minutes from my house which pays more and have been so happy. But it has always been a struggle of the pressure we put on ourselves about working too much, or not working enough, how do I keep the house clean and be a good working mom. Some days are epic fails and some are wonderful! But I have come to terms that is just life and we all do the best we can do. I love my work day and I love my family time and appreciate the opportunities put before me. You have helped me to try to get on a better schedule with things which has been working great so thank you for that!!!
You're super sweet! I like watching your content I can completely relate to you! I have an MBA and I am a SAHM and I read an article that said being a SAHM is hard because its so under appreciated there is no monthly review of benchmarking your progess....it's a daily struggle of trying to figure out if you are doing the whole thing right. Everyone always says if you are questioning it you are doing it right :) You're doing a good job mama!
To be hinest Bri, I joined Your TH-cam family not so long ago, I admire Your ambition and energy. I don’t have kids yet, due to my health problems, but emotionally I feel I do understand your point in “chit chatting part”. I don’t have any advice, only support! I will follow your journey of organizing stay at home mom life and I keep my fingers crossed!
Loved this video! I am off for the summer as well and I totally agree with you about which is harder staying home or working. Working as a teacher during the school year I got into the zone of the schedule I had each day. Now I am home with my son and OMG going from 5:30 am to 9:30 which is is first nap is like a whole day in itself. I’m glad I’m not alone in feeling like the day is a blur but it is totally a blessing and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I work outside of the house but I know just during my maternity leave I struggled. I thought I would accomplish all of these things (I had a reorganization project in mind too) and it didn’t happen. Why? Oh yea, because I had to keep a tiny human alive and happy lol!! Women, in general, do not extend enough grace to themselves. Add the role of mom and everyone, including ourselves, thinks we should be super heroes. We’re just humans who happen to kick a lot of ass. Thanks for your content and honest, Bri. So glad I found your channel. I came across you because I find TH-cam to be heavy on the SAHM side and I was looking for moms that worked out of the home, the way I would be, to see how they coped.
I’m on the other side - I stayed home for 16 years & really just started working outside the home last fall. My head is still a full time stay at home mom. Delegating home responsibilities has been so hard for me. Setting up the routine & falling into a rhythm has been my biggest challenge. My family doesn’t know how to do that because I still want to do it all! I get the being too hard on yourself ❤️
I 100% agree with you! I had 4 months off for maternity leave and it was SO hard. Now granted I was caring for an exclusively breastfed newborn, but it was exhausting. And I had to plan an outing everyday just so I wouldn’t go crazy. Going from independent, career woman to basically a breastmilk food truck tied to a baby was a total shock. I did looove the time I could spend with though and so grateful, but’s it no joke! Props to all the SAHM mommas :)
Thank you SO very much for what you said about being a SAHM being more challenging that you anticipated. You shed a little “grace” on the way I so often feel. To be perfectly transparent, sometimes I watch TH-cam mamas and feel super inadequate. The days DO often feel like a blur! My “to-do list” has to stay pretty fluid! Lol! Thank you for making me feel a little more normal.
Love hearing your perspective since you’ve played both roles. I’m a teacher and off for summer w my almost 2 year old daughter. I definitely think working mom life is so much harder. During school year I play both roles...get baby ready, fed, off to sitter, work all day w kids w very limited adult interaction, come Home and take care of baby, cook, pack lunches, clean, etc. ALL mom roles are tough, but after doing both SAHM and WM, I think it’s much harder to work.
Yes!! I don’t have kids, but I’m a teacher. I know if I had kids I’d trade spending endless hours dealing with the drama of 27 other people’s children for spending all day with several of my own.
I love this video! It is so honest. I think especially with very young kids it is very tiring to be a stay at home mom. Remember that you have been dealing with a lot of stress, God may be wanting you to take this time to recover and rest so you will be ready for your new job. Scale back your to do list and don't be so hard on yourself. Ten years from now no one will remember whether or not you got everything done on your list. The bonds you are strengthing with your kids are what really will matter in the end.
Hi Bri! I live in NYC and before I had my baby I worked doing all training for service in a corporate up skill restaurant. I work 14 hr days and my husband is a chef so his days are as long as mine were. When I had the baby I felt lost, I’ve never not worked. And SAHM is the MOST underestimated job ever!!! Is so hard I felt like a failure for months! Now that he is 1 i got this really well! But without anyone’s help I am happy if my house is clean and all baby’s needs are met! That’s a great day! Home projects are a myth! Don’t kick yourself hard! Just take one day at the time! Love your family and your adorable kids! Hoping for a quick recovery for Adam! Ps my husband leaves the house at 10 am and gets back at 11 pm daily! So I do this solo 5 days a week!
Ginger Louco I know! And somehow it still bothers me when ex co-workers asked me .. so are you working at all? Like I am sitting on my ass all day watching Netflix and my son is being raised by a nanny? 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I've been a follower since I was about 5 months pregnant with my twins!! (8 month pregnancy and they are almost 9 months now!). I have found that it was hard to be a full stay at home mom or a full working mom. With my first I was an almost fulltime working mom and I was so drained. I cut back my house to 15-20 per week and stayed home the other time (I worked when my hubs was off, he has 3 days off). But once we were trying for "number 2," I decided to do full time again, and it was just too draining. For me personally, I need a split! 15-18 hours a week for me is my sweet spot, it gives me enough time to socialize and take care of personal/ house things and it also allows me to be at home and not have to pay daycare. Random rant lol but I know personally I couldnt do either fulltime! You're doing great :)
Working in the office was so much “easier” than being a work at home mom now. But my kids love mom being home and my oldest loves seeing me and her little sister when she gets out of school waiting for her. Can’t put a price on that. So while I am exhausted at 1am when I’m finally wrapping up work, seeing my kids eating breakfast in the mornings, packing lunches, and volunteering in the class makes it worth it. Just HAVE to make time for mama every week! It’s mandatory in my house. Thank you for being so supportive of every type of mom! You have such a compassionate heart and you make us feel like you’re an old friend.
I have always been very structured, so when I had little ones and I worked, I knew what was expected and I did it.....when I stayed home with them for a short time (not outside working) I adjusted -- in time -- but I made it work...now I'm retired and it's just my hubby & me and THIS is the hardest time.....there is no reason to structure my day and I don't know how to relax in that non-structure. You're an achiever, so you'll figure it all out. You already know God has a plan for this time and that's more than half of the battle. You are doing great!
I just wanted you to know you're such an amazing Mama! This has to be one of my fav videos of yours. So transparent, which I know is SO hard to share your vulnerability with the entire world, but at least you know you're not alone. I am a Mama to 2, a little girl and boy and work full time and all around being a Mama is tough. Threenager is Such a real thing!
Oh Hon, I have been there! I had the privilege of being a SAHM for a full year after my son was born. I had my beautiful 8 year old daughter and my perfect baby son. I spiraled into deep depression. Nothing got done and I felt like a failure. My kids are now 14 and 6. I have learned that I'm a better mom and person when I'm working but during seasons where I'm home, I give myself grace and try to enjoy the little moments. You're a great mom. Whether you are super productive, the house is clean or not, or even if you spend an entire day watching netflix and feed the kids ice cream for dinner, give yourself grace!
My sons birthday is in March so he does struggle the first half of the school year but every teacher reaches out to me after the winter break and raves about his behavior and how much he has grown. I am a single mom and have my 7 month old daughter is home with me while I work 2 jobs and by 530pm on Friday I am exhausted but blessed to spend this time with her and not miss her milestones. My son was in daycare at 8 weeks so I am treasuring every minute. Love your channel and your family. I hope your hubby does the vlog channel. His daddy vlog was awesome! God bless. 💕
Can totally relate. I think being a SAHM is WAY harder... coming from a full time, busy job to first time mum-ing at home has been the hardest transition!
As a stay at home mom and a homeschool mom, I am appreciative of you being open. I think my biggest struggle with being at home all the time is feeling isolated. One of my kids is kind of special needs and my husband works out of town a lot. I try to keep up a good routine, but it never sticks. I have found that it’s best to drop all expectations and roll with it. You’re not going to get everything accomplished, but at least our kids are happy! You’re doing a good job!
Yes! I’m a military sahm to 4 littles and its rough. I tried going back to work after my 3rd just to have my own time but our family fell apart so home I came. It’s a love hate thing but I think you just have to go slow, take care of yourself and take each day as they come and remember its all a season to enjoy before its gone. You’re doing great!
Being SAHM like you said you have to have a plan, todo list and you would think more time but its not there. Its an adjustment but give yourself grace, it takes time! your doing good.
Man alive did I need to see this video today... With a 9 month old baby girl (whom we utterly adore) sleep is few and far between at the minute and even this morning I was in tears because she threw up her whole bottle after a solid hour of trying to get her to nap. Being a stay at home momma is hard. Like unbelievably hard... But absolutely the best job in the entire world. Thanks again Bri xoxo
I love how open & honest you are. And how none judgmental this comment section is! That’s a difficult Q to answer, what’s harder stay at home or working mom? I think all of you mamas out there are doing an amazing job!👍🏼😘 Also, I wanted to congratulate you on hitting 80 K, you deserve it Brianna! I’ve learned so much from you, and I just wanted to say thank you!
It felt so good hearing you say this too! I have been watching your videos preparing to go back to work after realizing being a SAHM wasn't for me, and it's just so comforting hearing somebody else say they had bigger expectations than they can do too! It's comforting knowing I'm not alone! Love your channel and your videos! 💕💕💕
Thank you for this thank you!! I was a mother baby NICU nurse before staying home with my son and daughter five years ago and my head has gone back and forth with how to bring both work and motherhood together along with being a wife and homemaker. It’s crazy how much pressure woman have to do it all and most of it is felt internally but expressed externally in society. It’s just intense and full of all of the emotions. It’s hard, it’s really hard. You’re emotional expression is huge huge for the perfectionist in me and for a generation of women who are doing it all we are we’re just having to do it all differently. My vote is SAHM with the isolation and emotional load and even judgment not that jobs are not hard, mine was very challenging but yes I one hundred percent agree with this. Thank you for representing this.
Girl. YES. The whole first part of the video I felt in my soul. I thought going from a 8-5 job in the office to a work from home mom would be different (easier?) anyways, that is so not the case!! The baby needs attention 24/7 and I get work done when he naps. So that means I'm working from 7am until we go to bed at 10pm. There is no time for down-time, organization, cleaning, etc.
Wonderful vlog!!! I love the fact that daddy cares so much he orders something extra regarding the tinting of the windows. I have been both a SAHM & working mom. They are both hard. A mom is the hardest, yet most rewarding job you'll ever have. You are a wonderful mother. 💗💗
I’ve been watching your channel for a while, and you’re amazing. I don’t know how you do it. We are super hard on ourselves as mamas- it is one of the most difficult jobs out there. I appreciate the realness of this video. Don’t stop, Bri- whether you need to reassess and set the bar a little lower, you’re still such an inspiration. 💗
Being a SAHM is the most difficult “job” I’ve ever had, definitely agree with you. The mental shift was the most unexpected aspect and the most difficult adjustment. My little girl will be heading to kindergarten in a few weeks and I’m realizing now, more than ever, how much our time together has meant to me.
I wish I could understand . Some people aren’t as lucky to have that ... I work full time , I’m in graduate school full time at night and have a preschooler as well as pregnant with my second and do not get to stay home at all . Husband also works full time ... can’t live on one Income no matter how much we save / don’t have . We have no cable , no extras .
Agreed! Being a SAHM is really tough. I went from a corporate job managing 6 clinics to being a SAHM to our newborn and it has been 10 months and it is really harder than I could've ever imagined. I miss working and feel so guilty but everyone I have talked to said I would never regret staying at home...so I am giving it a good, honest try. Agreed, with changing your expectation so you can make your goals and outcomes. BTW, I have LOVED watching you for forever with your pregnancy with Presley. It helped me go through mine!!! You got this mama
Hi Brianna! Girl it’s a huge adjustment. I went from teaching the last ten years to being a stay at home mom. It takes time to adjust. I have learned to keep my sanity I have to get out of the house every day and also treat myself with a Starbucks daily. Plan something for you once a month. Something to look forward to 😀
I worked part time for a year when I had my daughter. I worked three days a week and it was perfect. I have a high stressful, very fast paced job, and thrive on challenge and challenging work goals, so although I always dreamed of being a SAHM, I don’t know that I could have done it and stayed happy mentally. Unfortunately, I had to go back to work full time because I am the breadwinner, but if I had to pick and could find the right job that kept me challenged, part time would absolutely be my dream. I also think it’s good to get the kids out socializing with other kids so if no daycare, I’d definitely get them in early preschool or something, especially if they are shy. I stayed home with my mom and siblings and of course had neighbors, but I was super shy and feel like my social skills suffered because I never got out in a setting that had a lot of other kids.
Love watching your videos - Newly subscribed .... and continue coming back to watch during my “self-care” time ! I have two under two.....and it’s been hectic adjusting ! Working in the mental health field I make it a daily intentional practice to engage in mindfulness .... it def helps. i appreciate your vulnerability! Love from Canada !
I love that you bring your faith into this discussion! 💕 I recently transitioned from full time job to SAHM and the transition has required me to slow down on my TH-cam channel. I did a video on my decision to stay at hind and quit my job. I agree that SAHM life is so rewarding but so much more draining than my previous office job. My baby girl just turned 11 months old today and my son is 10 years old. Thanks for being open about struggling through this transition in your life. Very encouraging to other moms and youtubers like myself. 💕
Thank you for such an open and honest conversation, I've been a stay at home mom for going on 8 years and it's had its ups and downs for sure. I've always been independent and working and it was hard to transistion. We give so much of ourselves and even though it's rewarding and you love your family I feel like I need to be productive in the world and contribute financially. Because this is the most underrated job ever, we don't get paid for all we do. It's emotionally and physically draining and the hardest part is like you said no adult socialization. It can be lonely at times and I've suffered from depression and anxiety I've never had before. Even though I love being able to stay at home with my kids it's not for the weak of hearts. My tip for you is get out with your friends and husband on a regular basis something I should do more because when you come back your a better Mommy. Keep up the great work I've come across your channel 2 weeks ago and I love it so much😊 Blessings to you and your family
So encouraging and i'm not even a momQ! Loving the long vlogs! You'll get through this, and you'll look back and be able to say, yes, that is why i went through that!
Oh Brianna, don't be so hard on yourself dear. You are an amazing lady! You need to do what is best for you and your family. May the Lord see you through these hard decisions. Love you and your family! 💜
I’m a stay at home mom with a 1 year old girl who doesn’t sleep very well and never has! She takes one short nap during the day, goes to sleep late, wakes up in the middle of the night, and wakes up early! It really is so hard to get the things that need done, actually done! Everyday’s a new day with little ones, just take it one moment at a time!
It's good to set goals but at the same time enjoy being with your children while they are young, if your tired, relax, let them play. I've been a stay at home mom for about 4 years total, we tried daycare but that was too expensive and I only ended bringing $80 home a month after so I decided to stay at home and I love it!
I’m a mum who works from home and my daughter goes to daycare 3 days a week. I find the two days she’s here hard because I am trying hard to work a full day while being a mum and then the days she’s gone I work so hard because I’m trying to get the most in. It’s a balancing act, so so so hard, but you do what you have to for your babies! Your doing a great job, also on your last video where you started your day with something fun in a trip to the park that was so helpful, I am trying now to do the same :)
Amen sister! I’m a sahm and it’s so much harder than I ever thought it would be before I had kids. I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 19 month old and some days are definitely a struggle both mentally and physically but I do feel very thankful that I have this time with them since they grow so fast. Also, sometimes it really is hard to meet other Moms and I love that TH-cam has this community. It’s like a hidden network of Moms! Love your videos! They are so helpful! Thank you!
I used to be a teacher for a short time with my first and then transitioned to sahm and whoa! I think you said it perfectly about scheduled time with work vs. home. I just had my third baby and I feel like I'm drowning to be honest (ironically the older kiddo is my hardest when he's home from school). I also think it's super hard when you're a full time mom at home AND have a business because you have to spend all your "extra" time when kids are sleeping, working. But I've seen over the years that being a mom is hard...at home AND at work! Also, you looked so pretty in that clip of the school hacks!
Last week when you posted a video everyday I thought how does she do it? Posting 1-2 videos a week is hard for me. I’m a SAHM with two littles that keep me super busy. It’s nice to see that I’m not the only one that says it’s so hard to be a SAHM. We are doing a great job. Love watching you💕
Thank you for keeping it real. I’ve worked FT and coming home to start another shift is draining. You have inspired and motivated not just to be a good mom/wife, but to be a better me. Take some time to pamper myself, this weekend I went out with my sister and cousins to see Oceans 8 (great movie by the way) it’s been almost 2 yrs since last girls day out, I was feeling soo guilty. But, let me tell you I came back fresh, re energized. Thank you for all your hard work when putting these videos, know that it is all Worth it. Most importantly do what ever filming schedule works for you, we are always here for you, besides I save your videos and go back when I need that extra encouragement 💕
Your amazing ! Thank you for this video and being so real you always are and you will get through this momma! Your being hard on yourself but we all are hard on ourselves your doing great I look up to you so much !!! Hang in there and enjoy your kiddos I know you are and you will get through this your not alone 😘💕
Thanks for sharing your struggles! It makes it relatable. And I truly believe all mamas need to inspire each other and talk about hard topics! Thank you B ♥️
I have loved following your journey as a working mom because that is my reality and I am so inspired by you! But I am so thankful that you got the opportunity to stay home this summer-I know that is time you’ve cherished! And let’s be real, mom life is hard no matter what 😂
I’ll have to look up Jungle Terry! My kids at the Y would love that!! I wonder if he’d come down to Akron. Thanks for sharing not only this extra long vlog, (which was awesome!) but also your heart about what you’re feeling about being a “new” SAHM!
I think they both have their challenges FOR SURE! And I am also really struggling right now with the stay at home mom life. But I also wouldn’t trade a single second of it. Hang in there momma, you’ll find your groove!
I totally hear you. It's definitely tough being a working mom but being an exclusive stay at home mom is by far the toughest job, though still the most rewarding. I've only experienced being a SAHM when it's the weekends or my caregiver is sick, and while it's certainly tough I absolutely treasure those moments!
You hit the nail on the head about being a stay at home mom. It is harder. Everything intertwines together and isn't as compartmentalized. It's even harder when you homeschool 😉
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for always keeping it real. I've been going back and forth on being a stay at home mom. We have 3 kids but I carry our health insurance so that's a big hang up for us. And we are also wanting to move eventually and would need the extra income to help get approved for a house. But there's a part of me that keeps going back to wanting to stay home with the kids and before I had 3 kids I always said I'd never be a stay at home mom. But things do change :)
I have never commented but just want to say my mom is currently at The Cleveland Clinic in the cardiac ICU. She was at University of Michigan hospital and is in desperate need of a heart transplant or heart pump. They denied her both procedures saying she was too high risk and basically said either she can go home and “be comfortable” with hospice or try and see if Cleveland will accept her case and give a second opinion. They accepted her transfer without hesitation and she was just transferred here on Saturday. This has been an incredibly difficult time especially relocating to a new area (we are from the Detroit area). I am 25 years old and I just got married June 2nd. I want her to have the chance to be around for future grandchildren. With the sudden change and anxiety of whole new surroundings, you gave me some comfort from remembering watching your videos throughout the past year I have subscribed to your channel and knowing you are from the Cleveland area and have mentioned how much you love it. :) Thank you for that one piece of certainty I could hold onto in this scary, emotional time.
I love how honest you are. I've been both a working mom and a sahm and I definitely think it's WAY harder to be the latter. I love my kiddos and being able to be there for literally everything, but I have ZERO and I mean zero adult interaction. It's quite a transition that you are going through and your kiddos are happy and well taken care of and at the end of the day, that's all that really matters. "Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow for babies grow up we've learned from our sorrow, so quiet down cobwebs dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep!" You are doing great mama so please ease up on yourself 😊
I agree with you! I am a teacher so spending every summer with my kids gives me a taste of the SAHM life. While teaching is exhausting, it is still an outlet to socialize and have some productiveness and a schedule. Staying at home is the most rewarding experience ever and I love the time I get with my kids, but it is very mentally exhausting at times. Full time stay at home mommas do not have an easy task.
This video is right on time this subject has been on my heart for the last couple of months and I just had my baby girl 6 months ago and I’ve been working since I was 18 I have never not worked. But I’ve decided to be a SAHM and it’s really hard. I’ve contemplated going back to work but I just can’t leave my baby I value the time I have with her and don’t want to miss out on a second of it. But i was trying to explain to my husband that being a SAHM is way harder then being a working mom he thinks well u sit at home all day with a kid how hard can it be? (Not his exact words just a summary) but at the end of the day I’m more exhausted then working a 8 hour job and it never stops at least you can leave work behind at the end of your shift. But being a SAHM continues 24/7
I love this video. Stay at home mom life was so much harder for me too for all of the same reasons. We are so similar. God is bringing you down this path for a reason as you said and it will all make sense in the end
I’m new to your channel and I just love watching your videos! Your so inspiring and I love your that you have such great faith 🙏🏻❤️ God bless you and your beautiful family! 💕💕
You have no idea what you doing, I mean, you are inspiring, when I watched your videos when you were still working I thought OMG how does she do that, she works, she has kids, and her house is clean and organize? I tried to do that and have a week clean routine 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I could do it, I work 3 days a week but I have to drive 1 hour to get to my job, wake up at 5:30. But this video helped me understand you are normal, I am normal, it is really hard to stay at home.... you are doing great Mom!!!💋💋💋
I used to be active duty Marines. Now I stay at home. Being on both sides of the fence.. SAHM is harder than full time working mom. This is just MY opinion! To each their own. I just feel like being at work is a break.
I'm definitely the opposite. I am a teacher. So I go from running behind 20 children during the school year to 1 child during the summer. I never feel on top of things during the school year. So, it really does depend on the type of person you are and the type of life you lead. Now work at home moms, I don't know how you do it 😂
This is so relatable, Brianna. I’m a stay at home mom and I’m also trying to work on a TH-cam channel and it’s very difficult. My daughter is the same age as Landon and it’s difficult to get anything done (especially the days that she refuses a nap). There are good days and bad-keep your chin up! Go easy on yourself...these toddler years are so rewarding but difficult too.
That's so cute. I love the idea of sending clips in. I just because a SAHM January of this year, this is why I started youtube because so felt that I still needed something outside of mom life. I've learned to let go of most of the expectations of a perfect schedule or perfect day and after 7 months I am finally getting the hang of things. But I agree, I have never put my heart in soul in anything like I do with TH-cam, and although I am a TH-cam baby, my first month was cringy lol, but I have set a 5 year plan and I see a future with TH-cam and Ive never been happier.
I work full time too. I feel the same way!
But maybe it's possible if your husband helps.
I think we all put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, have a perfect house, be a perfect parent, and look perfect. In reality we are all our own version of perfect and doing what is perfect for our families. It just doesn’t always look the same from family to family. Good job all you beautiful mommas!!!!
yes!
We are each perfect through our unique imperfections! 💕 love how u said this.
Yes and thanks for writing this dear
You speak directly to me when you said it's way more draining being a stay at home mom, because it truly is!! For the longest time I thought something was wrong with me that I felt so emotionally drained all the time. Then I realized when I went back to work, I felt way less drained and emotional.
But everything will be okay! Some mom's thrive off of their kids. Then others, like myself, don't always feel that way. Just take it one day at a time 😊❤
I do agree with your advice...one day at a time. 💕
So double work, inside and outside the house wow!!
I would love to teach you kids but I cant deal with the parents. Bless you!!!
Rene Braxton amen to all this! I can definitely relate. Only, my career field is banking
You are one of my biggest inspirations! Such a good wife, Mom & boss lady! Love you Brianna!! 💖
Love hearing your perspective since you’ve played both roles. I’m a teacher and off for summer w my almost 2 year old daughter. I definitely think working mom life is so much harder. During school year I play both roles...get baby ready, fed, off to sitter, work all day w kids w very limited adult interaction, come
Home and take care of baby, cook, pack lunches, clean, etc.
DaRamirezFam yes, this! So true
😍that prayer!! Omg you're doing a great job. The sweetest.
Mrscgreen88 Also a SAHM to a 9 month old baby girl so I feel you on that! Hang in there. We got this!
Thank you Makanna!!
Thank you Bri!!
I love how open & honest you are.
And how none judgmental this comment section is! That’s a difficult Q to answer, what’s harder stay at home or working mom? I think all of you mamas out there are doing an amazing job!👍🏼😘
Also, I wanted to congratulate you on hitting 80 K, you deserve it Brianna! I’ve learned so much from you, and I just wanted to say thank you!
Jessica Nicole Faust this comment section is sooo encouraging! I’m enjoying reading everyone’s response for my own mental sanity as a SAHM 😀
PrayerLights I feel you girl!! For my own mental sanity as well!!👍😘
It felt so good hearing you say this too!
I love your day in the life videos!!
Girl.
Husband also works full time ... can’t live on one
Income no matter how much we save / don’t have .
Something to look forward to 😀
Amy Salsman same here it's hard to keep your sanity being a sahm. I go out every Friday Target run or lunch
I agree with you everything you said about Working mom and stay at home mom. Both are very true. 👍🏻
Definitely SAHM! I’m a teacher and get the best of both worlds....I’m ready to go back to work! Lol shout out to the full time SAHMs!! You guys rock!
Love watching your videos -
Newly subscribed .... and continue coming back to watch during my “self-care” time !
I just want to say ALL these women in the comments just loving and supporting each other is soooooooo amazing. ❤💙💚
Truth, you are one the most organized person on utube
I’m a stay at home mom with a 1 year old girl who doesn’t sleep very well and never has! She takes one short nap during the day, goes to sleep late, wakes up in the middle of the night, and wakes up early! It really is so hard to get the things that need done, actually done! Everyday’s a new day with little ones, just take it one moment at a time!
I completely agree with the working mom vs stay at home mom life! It’s nice to hear that other moms have the same thoughts! 💕
Thank you!
SAHMegan Vlogs yes! The youtuber mom community is so helpful for all of us SAHM youtubers struggling to watch our kids and make videos. 💕
Love watching you💕
Lifestyle by Jaimy it is sooo hard to be a SAHM! I love to see so many mammas encouraging one another. 💕
You look beautiful and not tired! New subbie here and I've enjoyed binge watching this past weekend!
Your a rockstar and an amazing role model! You motivate me so much you have no idea!
“Oh you go Glen Coco”. This is the best thing I’ve heard all week!
I love watching your videos, they are just so cozy... if that makes sense lol 😂
i’m crying💗🙏🏻😭. i’m not alone! you said it all very well.
I totally agree with what you said in this video! You are doing a great job! 💕
I lost it when P dropped her fruit on the floor. They KNOW what they are doing and the look she gave you 😂🤣 bahaha
I think you do a great job, it’s ok not have everything figured out all the time, just do what is best for you and your family.🥰
Aww! The amazon orders!😂👍🏼❤️
And we call my daughter the same! Our little Italian baby❤️😂
Now work at home moms, I don't know how you do it 😂
Brianna K I teach 3rd! I LOVE it!
HAHAHA! When Presley dropped the apple...that had me rolling!! My son does the same!
