The fact is, you're going to buy the Quest 3 regardless, because you're going to want the upgrade. Buying a 3S is just buying a 3 for $800 instead of $500.
If I were to choose, it would be the 3s, it's $200 saved, it only has 128gb storage, but you can upgrade it for $100, they have the same chip and ram, so basically the same power, so it mostly depends on how much storage you need

I have to apply the same logic here that I did when I bought my first electric unicycle. I considered getting a lower-end model to learn on, then upgrading later, but I eventually realized that I was going to end up buying the higher end model eventually regardless, and it was a large enough investment that buying a smaller one would just be a waste of money. So I did my research, and bought the best EUC that I could justifiably afford. VR is the same way. All the headsets are so expensive, and a *good* VR experience is so pivotal to the hobby, that honestly if you buy a lower-end headset, you're just sabotaging yourself. You should do your research and buy the best headset you can reasonably afford. Do not buy the Quest 3S. Do not be lured in by the lower price tag. You will want to upgrade to something else later anyway, so save up for something better in the first case. If you're OK with Facebook selling every aspect of your life to the highest bidder, buy a Quest 3. If you aren't OK with Facebook selling your data, but still want something standalone, buy the Vive Focus Vision. If you want uncompromising visual quality, and don't need standalone or wireless support, buy the Bigscreen Beyond. If you have a PS5, buy the PSVR2. If you can't afford any of these options, save up until you can afford the one that's best for you.
honestly, if you are mainly going to be using the quest as a PCVR headset, the only real difference is the resolution, and if that doesn't bother you that much then the 3S is a steal, almost half the price with the same specs and capability outside of resolution.
Don’t. In my opinion the meta quest 3s is way better than the 3, so what if it has “worse lenses” you can barely even tell in gameplay. And as of the background sharper, it makes it look more blocker than sharper. So don’t. The 3s is amazing tech and really good for 299.
I got the 3S for christmas too. My friend got the 3 and tbh the only difference is the lenses and storage but besides that there aint really a difference.
Did PCVR a lot with my Quest 2 using that $80 cable, before it broke & I'm happy with my 3S because it has that function as well. Don't want to drop $500 on something that isn't that much of an upgrade spec wise, and performs poorer in resource intensive games compared to it's cheaper counterpart. All that glitters isn't gold, people.

should I buy Quest 3s? I only plan to use it on my PC to play games like Assetto Corsa, both fnaf help wanted, half life alyx, in general VR games on my PC
Simple answer: first vr headset or upgrading from the quest 1(either works), 3s. If you have a quest 2 there's no gain to getting the 3s because visual clarity is the biggest aspect by far, an upgrade you only get on the 3.
So what I would recommend would be if you already have a quest two just keep it until the quest four comes out or until you really need to replace it if you don’t have a virtual reality headset and you don’t have a lot of money go with the the quest three s. If you do, you probably get a little more bang for your buck with a meta quest three
I had a Quest 3. Fascinating device. However, for the price, there were a few let downs when it came to the passthrough and multitasking. And I didn't use that much storage where I had 512GB. Here I am typing with The Quest 3S. The difference between the passthrough of the 3S and 3 is OVERWHELMINGLY trivial with a suffcient amount of brightness ultimately creating more battery life due to the slightly smaller resolution, passthrough button is more convienent. Handtracking devices is NOTICABLY more accurate than the Quest 3 due to having TWO handtracking sensors where the Quest 3 has only ONE. The big difference with storage isn't too much a big deal to me personally because I don't keep too many games. Audio jack isn't a thing on The Quest 3S, but at least Bluetooth is ;P ALL OF THAT for 40% of the price that the Quest 3 bears. It's MORE WORTH IT to get the Quest 3S than the Quest 3 if you ask me, personally. As overwhelming as the Quest 3 was, the price made it a let down where passthrough and multi tasking was concerned for me. You're in no wrong for the Quest 3, but you're in plenty right with the Quest 3S :)
@@tainoadarhutchinson8671 Yes. Quest 3 is more comfortable. But, still can be issue if worn too long. Either way, that's where I'd recommend the headstrap accessory.
Can already tell your opinion on the both is not reliable. People who use VR headsets to just put it on their head and do stuff they can simply do without one is just insanity. Quest 3 is miles ahead of the 3S, if you actually use VR for VR, such as VR videogames, where this stuff actually really matters, since you're in a fully dynamic, virtual, interactable environment and not just in your room wearing super expensive goggles.

All of this is my opinion though.)
been playing vr for about 3-4 years, my Quest 2 was a early run 64 gb model before they discontinued them, for 99% of people it makes more sense to get the 3S, it’s notably cheaper, 128 Gb is WAY more than enough storage, most VR games are pretty small in file size, so unless you’re a serious VR player or content creator, you don’t need the 3
When it first came out, i bought the regular quest 3 for $750 and it broke in two months. It would refuse to even charge. Ive went online and watched many tutorials and none of them helped. I regret buying it so early and should have waited till quest 3s to get is for a lower price.
I’d probably get the 3s over the 3, I wear glasses(can’t see far away) and resolution doesn’t matter much for me anyway. I also like the option to play in the dark, the only thing that would sway me to the other side is the memory space. Is there no way to add a SD card to the 3s to improve its storage?
i just got my 3s and if you own a computer you should definitely get it over the normal 3, the resolution difference is honestly minimal and unless youre watching something like youtube or youre sitting in the home screen you can barely tell the 3 has different lenses

if you have the money to get the quest 3 go (not calling you broke lol) for it but if you on a budget i would get the quest 3s cuz they are almost the same thing except for the storage and lens and a couple other stuff
Honestly, I think it’s best if you get a quest 3 because if you were to get a 3s after getting a 2 it would be disappointing tbh..
@@therealccsol i owned the quest 2 and got the quest 3s it wasn’t disappointing i thought it was cool
I have a 3s but use to have a 2, its such a big improvement i love it.
Probably get the 3s. Its cheaper and my prescription lenses that i use with the quest 2 will fit on there the same. Quest 2 is already impressive so this will just be a straight upgrade.
comments are convincing me to get the quest 3, the internet is a terrible influence
Personally I think the features on the 3 aren't enough to explain the price difference, since the vast majority of users won't really notice any difference unless they have both devices side to side yknow. Plus, most people reviewing it on the internet are really dedicated VR enthusiasts, so they'll naturally be fine with ignoring the extra price for any extra performance that the average person might not notice lol
@@dbzayan No not at all. I used to use the quest 2 in 2023 then I upgraded to a quest 3 and oh my god. @Beybey999 I have a quest 3 lol, so I've tried both. Sure, one is clearer than the other, but like 10 minutes into gameplay your brain stops telling you that there's a difference, especially since most people don't constantly switch between a quest 3 and 3s

As far as I know you can't upgrade storage
if you buy s for 399, why not 3 for 499, average price games apple taught them
You're not saving $200 buy buying a 3S, you're wasting $300, because you're *going* to want to upgrade to a Quest 3. So just buy the Quest 3.
@@ClokworkGremlin fr
The text message subscribe pop up is legit so nostalgic never realized how much I miss it until now
The better lenses on the quest 3 cannot be overstated, they are an absolute game changer.
I got a Meta Quest 3s for Christmas so watching this just made me sad.
Don’t. In my opinion the meta quest 3s is way better than the 3, so what if it has “worse lenses” you can barely even tell in gameplay. And as of the background sharper, it makes it look more blocker than sharper. So don’t. The 3s is amazing tech and really good for 299.
@@FISHY64- Thanknyou so much! You are so kind!

I don't really care too much about battery life im still gonna use it plugged in
The options pretty clear you would save $200 on expenses and if you want the expanded storage, it’s still $100 that you’re saving
I work for meta and have been using the 2 for years. I demo the 3s and 3 daily. Such a big difference, I love the 3.
Cap
and is there a big difference in resolution etc.? Do you see a huge one or rather minimal differences between 3-3s I would like to buy but I have a small budget and I don't know if it's worth saving up for 3
Is the 3 better as a standalone but equal as a pcvr?
Real

Meta quest 3s all the way the battery life lasts forever and buying a head strap for like 20$ will help with getting that display looking amazing 128gb is a lot like I have so many games on mine and for the price you can’t beat it
Yeah, surprisingly the games aren't that massive. I think a lot of people are going off console size games and are getting a wrong impression. I have the 3s as well, and I have it loaded up with video games and other apps, and I still have well a decent amount of space left for more.
I’ve been using the regular quest 3 and those pancake lenses are an insane improvement over the previous lenses and I’d say for that alone it’s worth it, especially if you use pcvr
from what i understand, the quest 3 and quest 3s are the same hardware and power wise, but the screens and lenses differ. Those are the major diffs

Buying quest 3 cuz Pcvr in those lenses gotta look good
Not an insult, but did you mean good?
@@OneMoreWanderer yes
Simple answer: first vr headset or upgrading from the quest 1(either works), 3s. If you have a quest 2 there's no gain to getting the 3s because visual clarity is the biggest aspect by far, an upgrade you only get on the 3.
Exactly
When did that come out?!?!?
October or something
@Beybey999 Wow, I haven't seen anything until this short!
Audio jack isn't a thing on The Quest 3S, but at least Bluetooth is ;P
ALL OF THAT for 40% of the price that the Quest 3 bears.
Is the comfort any different, since the 3s is larger?
I feel like the only one who appreciates the quest 3S
Quest 3 is not more powerful it just has better lenses, graphics, and build quality

The 3s has a longer battery life tho😂. It needs s bigger battery for the higher resoluatian

While the Q3 has a bigger battery, the higher resolution is gonna demand more out of that battery, draining it faster. The Q3s actually has a longer battery life, with its lower resolution. And plus with the lower resolution, the Q3s can push higher and more consistent framrates than the Q3.
Honestly, I think the Q3s is a much better option for gaming. You're still getting the same exact VR experience as the Q3

One thing I will say is check out external battery options before going for the meta branded elite strap. It's functional, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. The changing port does not function as a pass through for linking the headset to the pc. Which is sort of annoying. Also, it's overpriced.

3s should be called the Meta Quest 2.5 or Meta Quest 2 pro
I’d bought the quest 3 a month before they announced the 512gb model replacing the other storage models I’ve got the 128gb this is ridiculous since they pulled the same thing right after I bought a quest 2 so annoying.
3S is meant for beginners. Problems I have with it:
-Not a very powerful battery life even with extended battery
-Controllers are not protected from hand-sweating easily, making touch sensors on the triggers and buttons act up
-Chugs down controller battery life
(I had the Quest 3 til my dad decided to return it for the 3S so I can't rate the 3 much hear. All of this is my opinion though.)
The only thing noticibly is how it looks same performance, but more battery and new features
been playing vr for about 3-4 years, my Quest 2 was a early run 64 gb model before they discontinued them, for 99% of people it makes more sense to get the 3S, it’s notably cheaper, 128 Gb is WAY more than enough storage, most VR games are pretty small in file size, so unless you’re a serious VR player or content creator, you don’t need the 3
I just got the 3 and it’s amazing same with the new Batman game on it
When it first came out, i bought the regular quest 3 for $750 and it broke in two months.
On ebay the offical meta quest store has the 3 for 379.99 just get that comes in sealed box like new...
i just got my 3s and if you own a computer you should definitely get it over the normal 3, the resolution difference is honestly minimal and unless youre watching something like youtube or youre sitting in the home screen you can barely tell the 3 has different lenses
