Came here from the following week's video seeing that somehow I missed this one. I got goosebumps when you displayed that second desert image. Such great depth in it, I cannot believe it!
I really like how you show the difference between the raw unedited image compared to the finished image. It really shows the impact of the simplicity of your edits.
Great tips Adam. It's one thing to "know" that light vs dark, warm vs cool, smooth vs textured, saturated vs hazy creates contrast and depth, but it's great to see it done in real life applications, like this. Kind of an "ah ha" moment. Thanks for the video!! Hope you're able to get out shooting again soon.
I’m always impressed not only by your great skill in both the field and office, but by your ability to teach those skills. Your channel is always a delight to watch Adam.
A very interesting video, Adam. You’ve taught me a great deal here, especially in using the black and white sliders instead of the contrast. I have used the masks but not quite in the way you did here. So very enlightening, thanks Adam!🇦🇺
Wow! I am so glad I watched this. When I first watch your editing videos, I stop and try to imagine what you will do. Well, you got me again! The final image was so much more impactful than the original. The simple dunes really emphasize how much the editing process creates the results you want. Hell, even I might be able to do this! 😊
Very good tips. Simple and useful. I used your tips to re-edit some old photos and it was great to see the results. You just gave me more tools to enjoy my hobby more. Thanks!
Hey Adam, excellent tips here. This is really helpful for me even right now. I was working on a photo earlier today with these types of issues and having little success. I will try this. I like how much improvement there can be to the look of a photo with only these little changes. From flat to quite nice. Many thanks. Good luck with the house prep.
Thank you Adam. My default has been to go to the Contrast slider but I can see the additional control and subtlety you can get by approaching contrast with the other tools. Great video 😊!
Good luck moving and with the book. Meanwhile... thank you for another great and useful video. I need to check the newsletter. Not sure if I subscribed or not as I also changed email addresses lately 😁
I've been painting drywalling plumbing etc for several months. Glad to see I'm not the only one! I have been learning to use the masks in LR and these videos reinforce what Im learning. Love these Gobi shots. Great job as well. I can tell you've been painting😂
I really want a pair of D850 bodies. I have two D800s now. One has the 14-24 mm f2.8, and the other has the 24-120 mm f4. Between the two I have continuous coverage from 14 mm to 120..
Thank you Adam for this. Post processing is very important. Hope you continue this content.
You got it!
Contrast, light, colour, Gobi!! ❤️ singing my song buddy - some great tips

Very helpful! I had not considered using temperature as a depth-creating tool before. Will have to try it.
So good man, I love that 2nd composition!
Thanks, Michael!

Very helpful, Adam, especially for those of use who primarily shoot RAW, which is generally low in contrast. 👍

This is extremely helpful. I don't have Photoshop or Lightroom, but I'll see if I can do it on my own software.
Very cool, Adam. Headed for Death Valley again in November. Will be able to apply some of this.
🙏👌
For a moment, when I was looking away hearing it,, I thought it was Sean Bagshaw😂

Dune images are amazing . Not an editing question but a capture question - at f8 and telephoto , did you focus stack ? Seems you would need to ?
No focus stacking. The foreground in the second shot is blurry but adds to the effect imo
Is this book as good as Gavin Hardcastle's book, "Chasing Awe"?
I can’t believe that’s even a question? Ten times better!
I will take one if you deliver it to my door in Parksville! Only kidding, I am good for one.@@QuietLightPhoto
@@QuietLightPhoto Only Ten times better? :)
