Congratulations on your announcement on seeking a better lifestyle with focusing on your health! You are in a beautiful location. Travelling and eating/exercising while travelling must take a lot of discipline. Just remember that instructors sometimes push to hard and you are a little older. Listen to your body and avoid injuries that might set you back with your goals. All the best! Take care from Canada.
Hey Paul! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We really do feel old in our class.... we are probably the oldest by 10 or 15 years and it shows! They are very good to us though and support us through the process. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Wish you luck on your new life course, I always say look after yourself best you can now. After our world cruise I took the big C at 46, my chemo left me with ME/CFS and most days I can't do much, but I still am thankful that I travelled when we did and keep my dreams alive that we may again do so. What an amazing place to settle, to focus on your health and well-being having an instructor is a great way to do it. Enjoy x
Wish you all the best and strength Valerie in dealing w "big c". I've just completed 9 mos of treatment for breast cancer and had a complete pathologic response = chemo and targeted drugs took care of what was there. Surgery and pathology reports confirmed. Sending you positive energy!
Hey Valerie and Kate, Firstly thank you for sharing but secondly we admire you both. Great to see such a positive conversation on what is one of the most terrifying situations that us humans hope never to have to undergo. Kate and Valerie, we are proud of you both and your strength. You are both an inspiration. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
It's probably a money saver to stay in one place a little longer too. My Best friend's wife really reminds me of Sarah. She is 5 ft tall and a little spitfire. She has been doing aerobics and kick boxing for 4 years now and she is like solid muscle. She is in amazing shape for 53. Exercise may not make you live longer but it generally makes the quality of your life better.
Hey Dodger Blue! Really appreciate the comment, Sarah is over the moon to hear that she will be solid muscle if she goes the way of your friend! But I am a little nervous at that prospect lol! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam Yes, Gina does deliver quite a punch. I think Chiang Mai would be a nice place to live, with good fresh healthy food. I understand it is fairly inexpensive and the health care there is very good. I envy you your travels but I think settling down for a year at a time in a place has some definite advantages. Stay healthy and stay safe.
Good for you guys! That is a radical shift. A whole year in one place sounds great! You can learn the language and make some really good friends, not to mention carrying on with your fitness goals. about four years ago Richard and I made huge changes to our habits of diet and exercise. He lost about 60 pounds and I lost about 80. It's made such improvements in our abilities, energy level, and overall health. We still have more we'd like to to, but don't regret it for a minute and neither will you! 🙂💪🏃♂🏃♀
Hey Mel! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. 60 and 80lbs! Wow, that is incredible and well... we have to target our weight, that is impressive! We can't wait to see the results of our life change for this year, it really will be something! You are our inspiration now Mel! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
U just got a viewer for a year at least. This is such an awesome idea and a very interesting location. This concept of reinventing yourself now is striking multiple cords with me. Appreciate you 🙏 💙
Switch to plain water. Sodas wreak your kidneys. In a year you will love Thailand so much and won't want to leave. Its such a beautiful place and so are the people
Hey M Rivera! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Yes we are nervous and don't know what we are walking into but we know this will change us forever and that is exciting. Hope you enjoy the journey! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Denise! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Love this! Can't wait to see the next year unfold. For what it's worth, I switched to a whole food plant based lifestyle two years ago, and it has changed my life. When I experienced how I could eat loads of delicious food and effortlessly get to and maintain a normal weight, I was bitter that I hadn't found this lifestyle sooner.
Hey Jenny! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We are really interested in being plant based, a lot to learn though... a year of changes for sure! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Sakan! Thanks so much for the comment. We both feel so fortunate that of all places we could have gone to learn, that we are being taught by someone as thoughtful and focused as you. Although we are currently, erm... below average... we will try to improve for sure! Hope you enjoy seeing our journey in TH-cam with Core Combat through this year too! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Just discovered you on TH-cam and now plan on working through your back catalogue. I tumble into being 56 next month and definitely working hard on the financial side so we can retire early and travel. Great stuff
Hey Rob! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Welcome, it's great to have you here... you have to be careful with the tumbling now you are getting older :-) We are working on a new financial series for the channel that will be starting to come out in the next few months, we hope you find that helpful. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
No matter where you are in the world you meet two kinds of people the good and the bad. My daughter is a psychiatrist social worker and deals with people who are very mentally ill they can and have posed a threat to her life. The course she took was two pronged, first to deal with the situation by calming down to defuse the situation, and if that fails to take aggressive steps to save her life. I am so grateful she took this course, it eases my mind. Glad you are doing the same.
Hey Linda! Really appreciate the comment and this is what we are finding. The course really does go into detail about managing situations and there are a couple of things totally unrelated to self defence that we have learnt that are pure common sense. One being, if you go into a bar or restaurant, only take a seat where you are facing the entrance door. Makes sense when you think about it. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Well done guys - I've enjoyed following your journey and your experiences and storytelling are improving at a pace! This particular video resonates a lot. I've been self-employed most of my life and have been fortunate to travel the world extensively. Thailand is the one country I kept going back to. In March this year, at 60 years old, I sold my business in the UK and retired. I bought a house in Rawai, a few minutes from where you are filming. I love it there and walk my dog on Nai Harn beach most mornings. My plan is to stay 6 months in Thailand and 6 months in England every year from now on. One of the pitfalls (that many don't consider) of constant travel is an unhealthy diet, due to not having a kitchen to prepare your own food and instead, existing on restaurant/street food constantly. That takes its toll! It's great that you have now found a base and can eat well again. Like you, I searched for a local personal trainer and was astounded, even after 5 weeks, by the improvement in my strength, flexibility and sense of well-being. I hope this choice has a profound effect on you. Keep the videos coming and enjoy your journey!
Hey Steven! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Firstly thank you for mentioning the storytelling, we work so hard on that element, so it is great it is noticed. Firstly, we honestly LOVED Rawai and Nai Harn. These have been our favourite chill locations in Thailand so far. We are planning to re-visit Nai Harn before we leave Thailand next year, we should grab a coffee or beer while we are down there. Would you do us a favour and send an email to info@2goroam.com so that we can connect outside of TH-cam? Great that you are doing something similar, we are nervous for what this year brings but are excited at the potential results. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I love your British sense of humor. I started weight training at 44 and it really takes months or even years of workouts, fasting and drinking protein shakes to get from (grand)dad's body to a somehow ripped physique. The problem compared to younger folks is how quickly we can hurt our joints or tear tendons and how slowly the damaged tissue heals. Still good luck with your plans!
Hey Geeky! Thanks for getting in touch as ever. Oh we know... I really did my hip in on the class last week... the pain! But we aren't deterred! :-) Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Life is about growing and adapting to change regardless of age- or so I have read! You are in an amazing part of our world. I loved Chang Mai, its people, culture and environs. It is a good location to take on a new challenge of personal/internal growth. What I admire most about you two is your flexibility and courage to take on new challenges and really work at it! Thank you for including all of us and bringing us along too!!! Gordon
Hey Gordon! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We always want to learn and keep growing and we are thankful that we have a channel like this where we can share and hope to inspire others to do something similar if they get the opportunity. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I'm so impressed and think what you are doing is great. I've been alcohol free for almost a year, on a whole food plant based diet since February and feel great. My son has lived in Thailand for 12 years now and has Just Burgers in Jom Tien. I was there in January for a few weeks and plan to go back next January. Best of luck to you with your new life!
Hey Karen! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Just checked out your sons restaurant on Google Maps! Very cool. Yes, we will see what we can achieve this year, going to be fun to find out. We will be visiting Pattaya while in Thailand so we will go say hi to your son while we are down there. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
OMG and Wow. I did not see that coming. I admire your courage and look forward to watching your journey like I always have with this new twist. Please continue to show us more of Thailand. I loved your shots on the beach. I want to see more of what made this location the one you were willing to stay for a year besides this new fitness-self-defense program. As always, I loved the storytelling and your honesty. Can't wait for next week!
Hey Debby! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! You will see more of that beach in our video that is coming out in a couple of weeks time (that will be an epic video!). We are excited and nervous about our year ahead! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Amend required on the title Guys, old to told, hope you don’t mind me saying. Congrats on the lifestyle change, wishing you both well and looking forward to the new content.
Hey Budgie! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Mind you saying? We positively demand that you spell check for us in future!!! Embarrassing mistake. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I'm happy for you both sounds like a great idea!! They say we don't have a fountain of youth but the closest we have is diet and exercise. My Scottish grandmother used to say we are what we eat so I've always believed that. I have friends that live in Chiang Mai for years they love it you'll do great there there's lots of beautiful places to walk too. I look forward to seeing your new journeys in Thailand and improved fitness, I'm proud of you guys !!!!! Health is Wealth !
Hey Bill! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Yes what we eat is so important and we are taking that very seriously now. We are loving Chiang Mai and could certainly settle here full time when we are much older. Thank you for the kind words Bill! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Daz & Shaz! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Looks like an interesting year ahead eh!!!! We'll keep you posted on how it goes! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Good on you for making the choices that are best for you. It's your retirement and your channel. I hope you will continue to share your journey (and your results). I expect you're going to get ripped. Enjoy the journey!
Hey Chrissy! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Hope you are right about being ripped.... we aren't so confident. This is a pretty uplifting comment though, so we really appreciate it thank you!!! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Now that was the last thing I would have guessed you were announcing. What a great idea. Travelling again once you're both healthier, stronger and happier is going to be amazing. Good luck!
Hey Carl! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Should be an interesting year eh! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I absolutely love your videos because they are so real and attainable for anyone. You're also so humble and beautiful. I want to see more of you both. So, I am probably overstepping and I apologize. I noticed Neal getting short of breath often. Please check your kidneys and possibly heart. I hope you live a long life with Sara
Hey Scott! Looking good in a shirt eh Scott! There is a practical reason I did that, all to do with the Mic's we use. Sarah always lets me down by looking better :-) Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hi Neil and Sarah, I stumbled upon your channel a week ago and have been devouring videos ever since. Very informative and entertaining. My husband and I are your age, but plan to retire in about 10 years time and think we want to retire abroad. We are Canadians but we moved to the southern US 4 years ago with work. Its been an adventure exploring a new place and not needing to shovel snow! It has made us crave more. I think you two are doing it right. Not being rigid about constantly being on the move. Giving yourselves the time to reinvent in Chang Mai sounds great. Nice to make some connections and really get to know the place too. Looking forward to watching your journey these next months. Cheers!
Hey Ellie! Really appreciate the comment, firstly thank you for sharing your plans, hopefully if you keep watching us in your 10 years leading to retirement you'll be able to pick some of the best experiences we have had and apply them to your retirement also, we would love you to keep in touch and let us know how your journey to retirement goes. Yes we were a little nervous to tell people that we were changing for this year and staying in one place but you know... this is our retirement and we love having the flexibility to do what we want to do and it is even better to hear from someone such as yourself that respects how this all works. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Another great reflective piece. You point out solidly, early on, that it is the people who color (colour) the memories we keep from a destination. Grant yourselves the realization, that you gifted the same to those you met as well.
I am super excited for you both and ask that you PLEASE share with us your struggles and triumphs. This is definitely a life changing experience and together you guys will rock it!!!!
Hey Angela! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment and more importantly, thank you for joining our Patreon, we really hope you enjoy what we have planned over there. We will share it all, do not worry. This is not easy for us in any way and we are having to push ourselves... you'll hear all about it! Even more so in the Live Streams! Thanks again! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Yay! I celebrate your decision to invest in yourself. You can't go wrong. Since you'll be in Thailand for the next year, I invite you to check out Kata Hot Yoga. It's a yoga sequence that works EVERY part of your body, inside out, bones to skin, fingertips to your toes. The founder says, you're never too old, it's never too late, to start from scratch and begin again. It will help with your conditioning and get you acclimated to hot, humid conditions as the yoga sequence is 90 minutes long done in 105 F with 40% humidity. If you don't have your health - you've got nothing. Sounds like a great plan you two found. I hope you'll share how difficult (or easy) it is to stay for a year in Thailand with a UK passport. Cheers to your health Neil & Sarah!
Hey Kimberly! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever! Sarah has heard of Kata Hot Yoga, we will discuss!!! Really interesting! We will be sharing more about the visa side in next Saturday's video! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam It's the fountain of youth. It will enhance any workout. My plan is to travel the world and teach Bikram Yoga. I've had triathletes come to class to train before a race. It makes you feel great!
I was wondering if you’d do that. I imagined myself falling in love with a particular place and wanting to stay longer. I look forward to see your fitness journey. It’s a lifestyle for my husband and I at 60 and 70. That, and a mostly plant based diet. The thing we’ve focused on more in recent years is strength training, we are runners and cyclists. But realized we were losing strength. I don’t love strength training the way I love running. But I do it twice a week out of necessity. I hope you show more of Chang Mai. So interesting!!
Hey Stitchie! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We will be showing a lot of Chiang Mai in future videos and also all over Thailand. Yes we need to take our health seriously and that is a good point about the strength training, we both tend to avoid the strength stuff so need to lean into that more, good insight from you here. Thank you. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey D Man! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Karate Kid or Karate Geriatric? Hahaha Best wishes Neil & Sarah
My wife and I very much enjoy your story telling and engaging video’s that you, clearly, put lots of effort into. We travelled to Chaing Mai 5 or 6 years ago and loved it! We all have those sticks, at first we are unaware of, and once we become aware taking the step of doing something about it requires lots of courage - it is so difficult to make the change stick :-) . We wish you the best of journeys and we will continue to follow your progress.
Hey Dean! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Love that you mention the storytelling, we put so much effort into that element of our videos and it is lovely to get that recognised. Thank you. Great messages Dean, appreciate you being here in the comments. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I was worried when you said a change was coming that one of you were facing an imminent major health issue. Glad to hear you’re doing okay. This sounds like a great decision for y’all. The point of RE is that you can do what you want. Focusing on health is a great goal, and why not do it in Thailand! Personally, I’m trying to get my body in better shape while I’m working of the FI part. Pleased to say I’m at my lowest weight in my adult life, and feeling great. Still got a long way to go, but I’ve got time to do this. I can’t wait to see more videos of Thailand! Best of luck!
Hey Nabil! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. Absolutely, love what you say about RE! We now have the time to focus on our needs, really good point to raise. Keep going for it Nabil, what you are doing now will pay dividends in your health in the future! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Wow. It sounds like Chiangmai really clicked for you. I am really happy for you that you have found something to be excited about. It sounds like a fantastic challenge. Huge props for tackling something so difficult but ultimately so beneficial. What is cool is that you will not only become physically fit but in doing so with a trainer, you will gain the knowledge to continue to stay fit on your own going forward.
Hey RL! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. We are as scared as we are excited :-) Absolutely, we have been to a couple of sessions so far and the learning curve is great but we aren't allowed to skimp on our learning, Sakan is teaching the why of what we are doing as well as teaching the how. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
OMGGGGG!!! Great news :) We are going to Thaïland next year and I have few questions : 1) How will you handle your visa situation? 2) How much is the class for the entire year? 3) How will you handle your living situation? Thank you and eager to see your progress. Live long and prosper ;)
Hey Marie Eve! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Fear not... we have all the info for you. Check out next weeks video, your comment is likely to make a guest appearance! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Great start you guys this will kick your buts into better health. Remember it’s 20% exercise and 80% diet. Ditch the gluten meat and dairy lots of veggies and fruit and whole food starch nuts seeds. Easy in the area you are staying. In no time you will be healthy fit and happy, ready for any adventure that comes your way. You will be so happy, I am excited to watch your progress health is everything……..
Hey Sherry! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Strange... we had replied but it didn't appear! Yes we are going to focus on total health not just fitness. Going to be a big year of growing and learning for us both. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Excellent. Turns out I'm a Saint Bernard! This sounds like a very intense year you've signed up for. Looking forward to seeing the transformation - no pressure. :D
Hey Rouge! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Good thing about Saint Bernards is that bottle of whiskey around the neck :-) Should be a very interesting and scary year for us. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Wow, you are slowing down your slow travel! I am interested to see your journey! Alcohol free to?? Good for you! One reason why we have a homebase where we live in England rather than just constantly traveling is because of health and fitness. We are able to maintain our workout schedule much better when we have periods of time where we are “home”. But we just spent the last week in Manchester and Liverpool and didn’t work out once! 😂 All the best in your new phase! XX Dara
Hey Dara! Thanks for getting in touch, I don't think anyone works out in Liverpool! :-) Yes well this will be a different phase for us but really exciting as well as a little scary at the same time. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hi Guys hope you are both well. Good idea of yours getting a self defense course,. Take it nice and slow and it will see you into a healthy old age. We worry about our health so we don't become a burden on our kids in our later years. Food is also how we age, so less stodge is good. Healthcare costs are going loopy so it makes financial sense too. Thanks for the weekly update and have a great weekend both. Looking forward to see your transformations
Hey Joseph! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. It is going to be a big year of change and we are more nervous than excited but we are going for it, hope you enjoy the journey with us! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam Take it slow guys, easy to put something out when starting off. No need to push it too hard at the beginning. Look forward to seeing progress of you both. Enjoy Thailand!
Great announcement video. I’m really excited to watch your journey and confident that it will be great both mentally and physically. Congratulations, Sarah and Neil!!!
Hey Marquita! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Exciting and scary year ahead for us both! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
What an exciting course of action you have chosen. Looking forward to that Thailand footage. You look like you stepped out of an episode of Cobra Kai in that last shot🤣. BTW... that blue shirt suits you.
Hey Skip! Thank you for the kind comment, however fear not... we are still the old Neil and Sarah and when we see you, I'll tell you the totally practical reason for the shirt :-) Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Serendipity. You met that man, learned of the course and it launched your next chapter. Good for you! As for diet I pers would start cooking more at home, reduce salt, sugar and booze 😉. Doing so will help eliminate any traction brought on by each of those wonderful indulgences. Def keep protein in take steady. Happy for you both 🤗
Hey Kate! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! It is really difficult to cook here, the cost of ingredients is higher than going to a restaurant, however we have found some really good healthy restaurants and are looking into those in more detail. Thank you so much Kate, you are pretty wonderful, did you know that? Best regards, Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam Wow I wouldn't have thought the cost of cooking ends up being more. But atleast you have so much amazing Thia food to enjoy 😉 And thanks for the compliment! Enjoying the latter part of our summer here. ☀️ Look forward to your next video and hearing how your training regimen is coming along. Bet you are oh so happy not to be in the UK right now 🤣 Sunak and Truss belting it into over who will win the seat....
Love how you share about making one brave decision leads to another and another. Very inspiring and love the last shot of you all at your course - you look great!
Hey Mme B! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Your kind of comment really spurs us on too! So we really appreciate it! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
If you're staying in Chiang Mai for a year, this would be a great opportunity to really do a deep dive into it. Many TH-camrs are there for a month or so and only show the popular spots. But you could seek out little-known places around town worth visiting.
Hey Linda! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. Yes we are feeling really at home here so will be showing some off the beaten path locations as we continue through the year for sure! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Cindy! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! We both had a 1 hour massage last week and including tip it cost $20, amazing. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Good for you! We found that even slow travel was a bit much for us, so we’re spending a year in Guadalajara getting healthier and addressing issues that have plagued our health.
Hey Michell! Thanks so much for getting in touch and dropping us a comment. It really helps! We can't wait to get to Guadalajara... we were due to be there last year but still very high on our list of places to visit. Good luck on the focusing on health there! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Wow! I definitely did not expect that! You guys amazed me with every single video, but this is absolutely over the top! As I’m inclined to better lifestyle at this time, I can’t wait to see your journey and get some extra motivation for myself. I’d like to have such a program here in Vancouver Canada. Best of luck! I love you guys for your openness and honesty.
Hey Enid! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! So cool for you to let us know that we are making a difference to you. We work hard in our videos and we are not taking our life for granted, we want to try new things and squeeze as much out of this life as we can. It is wonderful that we get a chance to share that with you, thank you so much Enid. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Congratulations. Your journey keeps getting more interesting, and with such good humoured storytelling. We will continue to follow and share your inspiration.
Hey Gary! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! We try to have as much fun as we can along the way too :-) Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Self care is so important. We are expats living in Mexico for 6 years now and we have been focusing on health ourselves. Other than catching COVID we have been blessed with no major illnesses. Now we are thinking of a new place to live. We will take our time and make a reasonable decision. We love Mexico and her people however we do not find it to be a healthy clime. Lots of pollution, not the most walkable cities, food is great but not the most healthy (lots of lard used), seems to be high incidences of bacteria in food and on public surfaces where we live. I had a scrape from a sidewalk which developed into a flesh eating bacteria and I almost lost my leg. We just returned from Ecuador and Colombia. Ecuador’s altitude was an issue but Medellin, Colombia is definitely now on our radar. Green, clean, walkable, lots of fresh food and exercise places and a good expat population. May we all find good health in the coming year.
Great plan. We get up in the morning and walk or ride our bikes 20 miles first thing in the morning even though we would rather hang out in our loungers. It is just a great start to the day.
Hey Mike & Deb! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Absolutely doing something first thing in the morning just sets you up right for the day eh! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Good for Sarah learning to swim. It is amazing what you can learn online. You are so smart to stay and enjoy a year where you are. Moving means spending. Plus so much to explore.
Nice one Neil and Sarah. I need a similar reshuffle of self priorities and health in terms of physical and mental fitness. Thailand looks a great place to combine so eagerly awaiting your vdo’s. Take Care and stay safe. I hope you like chillies and maybe lime juice and sugar !! (No too much) Also, learn a bit of the lingo helps in the land of smiles. Sawadee Cup :)
Hey Oli! Thanks so much for getting in touch and dropping us a comment. It really helps! Yes we are loving it here, I am trying to convince my brother to come over to see us, I think he would like it to, do you? Sawadee to you too Oli, hope you are well. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
WOW! How exciting!! Your trainer looks pretty intense. I don’t think I would disobey him or not follow his routine. 🤣😂 I laughed so many times watching this video. I actually had to pause it when Sarah threw the stick and Neil went to fetch it. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 I’m excited for your new adventure and I’ll be rooting for both of you!
Hey Lorrie! Thanks for getting in touch! He is, actually he is a very cool guy and I am sure we will include him in our videos as the year goes on. He is extremely experienced and fights in bouts all over Thailand, we feel very thankful to be in his class. Haha, love that we are still making you laugh :-) Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I'm happy to see you've found a great community and set some wonderful health and fitness goals. We've also been nomading for the past year, and as a reult of your video I've made some health goals. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey Steve! Thanks for getting in touch, that is fantastic to hear! We know that you two are machines when it comes to hiking so not sure what we can teach you! Best wishes to you and Chris! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Novak! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Oh cool decision! Fitness is important indeed, and intense physical activity is great not only for fitness, but to get better sleep and having better mood. And now that you've announced it so officially on TH-cam you have an obligation do it for a year! Don't deceive us. 😆 How is the visa situation in Thailand? Do you need to go around the border every month to get a new tourist visa or are you applying for another type of visa?
Hey Isabelle! Thanks for getting in touch, we have had a lot of questions about visa since this video came out so we are focusing next weeks video on answering those. Hopefully that will clear things up for you here. We won't deceive! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Ok ... (cracking knuckles) ..... there is a LOT to unpack here. No doubt that a conscious effort to exercise, and specifically train for real world situations of safety; is remarkable and laudable. I'm super happy for both as your longevity overton curve will certainly gain positive traction. But when you said "meat free...", that's where I left the reservation LOL!. You see, I have been in a strict carnivore diet (eating lifestyle is my preferred term but ...) and have lost 35 lbs, cured an autoimmune disease, lowered my bad cholesterol, have perfect blood pressure, alleviated sciatica pain for the first time in 12 years, and feel better than I have in 10 years. Obviously this is MY experience and others may disagree with this, but I'm wondering why the "meat free" comment? Is this a conscience effort to live a more vegetarian life due to choices and personal tastes? or is it due to lack of good meat quality in Thailand? I"m seriously curious since I went through the gamut of diets and restrictions of every kind and when I purchased "the carnivore code" it literally changed my life and body. I live in California and as you may imagine, there are a lot of new age types and natural this / natural that things ingrained in the west coast culture that at times one just does from peer pressure but not from actual research and self review. Anyway, certainly not mean my comment to be contrarian but a serious curiosity as to why you feel "meat free" is a desired end-result. As always my ethereal-friends, my best always to you and appreciate you doing what most of us wish we were doing in the present. Cheers!
Hey Dardin! Thanks for getting in touch as ever. Hopefully one day we will move from ethereal friends to friends in real life. That is our hope for sure. A lot to unpack here too :-) Before we retired, thinking maybe the 5 years before we retired, we started to just naturally eat less meat, it wasn't something we ever discussed in fact it just happened, I (Neil) am the chef of the family and at the time just felt I could get more flavours out of the vegetables than out of meat. There was also the harm to animals thing and please don't think we have 'views' here as we don't, but we got to a stage where sometimes we would say to each other that we felt we were being contradictory by saying that we love animals and then we eat them. So... you know we have coined this phrase "Living an Intentional Life", we did that back then too... basically this is what we did. If we went to a restaurant and lets say for example there were two dishes on the menu that we preferred, one was meat the other meat free... given that we liked both, we would intentionally choose the meat free option as... why not. Then you mention the quality of meat. We felt that in Turkey that we were surprised how little we really enjoyed the meat dishes, which shocked us a lot and I think it may well come down to how it was prepared, I don't know. In Thailand, we are finding that many of the meat dishes we don't enjoy but there are a few that we love! So we think that we will likely reduce our meat intake rather than become meat free and this will purely be for personal choice rather than as an agenda of any kind. e.g. we don't eat seafood because... we don't like it. We find that in many respects, we prefer vegetables to meat. Having said all that, tonight we are going to a highly recommended BBQ restaurant tonight for their ribs! What gives! As you can see, we are crazy mixed up folks but this year we will get ourselves less mixed up we hope. Does that make sense? Best regards, Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam Neil, Those were great points and yes, it makes 100% sense. There are many factors in what we do, and as to being intentional, there is no greater intent that being aware of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd level effects around us in what we do and consume. My wife has mentioned that very same thing since we adore our two cats and she finds herself morally conflicted when she wolves down a filet mignon at a restaurant. This is one of those “rabbit holes” that I have delved into and have made choices based on the best empirical evidence I can find while trying balance that with an objective moral compass of planetary responsibility. It is not an easy road to navigate, i can assure you of that. I respect your reasoning and happy that you feel brave enough to share those thoughts here. Many people tip-toe through the tulips too much in my opinion and i feel that lessens our ability to understand each other. I love conversations like these, to be honest. There is a “distance factor” that somehow make it easier to speak clearly and with intelligence than some of the ones I have person-to-person that can go south real quick :-) It’s interesting on a side note as well: My niece just opened up a Puerto Rican Vegetarian restaurant in Charles Town, West Virginia called “Plantasaurus” and it is a HUGE hit. I ate there earlier this year when we visited our home there and marveled at what she could do with tofu. It was delightful and eye opening …… (even if my aversion to soy beans was made clearly to me by my stomach soon thereafter). We send our love and joy to both. We will be participating monthly in sending some shekels your way. We do it willingly, and knowing we get far more value than what we contribute. Do not stop, do not let your spirits wane with the ebbs and tides of the YT analytics. Keep thinking long term and over-the-horizon, my friends. Your journey is hugely influential and inspiring. Salud!
Hey Scott! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I like that you're practicing self care. I remember the dog story slightly differently. Tom moved into his house and his new neighbor's dog kept howling. He went over to see what was happening and the neighbor showed him the dog - who was sitting on a nail. The dog wouldn't get up and move because the nail just didn't cause enough pain. Looking forward to seeing your continued journey!
Hey Aura! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever! Yes that could well be the origin of the story. Any idea where it comes from? Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Excellent video! A grand surprise to hear of your news. Congratulations and I wish you well on your fitness journey! I’m the dog with a stick in my back. I’m inspired by your decision, and perhaps it’s just the inspiration I need to get off my bum.
Hey Deesiee! Really appreciate the comment. So cool that you found the dog story interesting, I have been saying to Sarah from before the time we started the channel that I wanted to get to a point where I could share that as I have always found it really resonating with me. That is really cool.... So the next stage, how can we help you get off your bum? :-) Loving your support, great to have you in our inner circle over on Patreon, thank you so much. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Congratulations on taking more control over your health and fitness. I cheered when you mentioned wanting to learn swimming. My story is that I learned how to swim at 50 years old and it was the best thing I could have done. I’m now 77 years old and broke my ankle last winter. It didn’t take too much time to see the results of not swimming. I cannot recommend swimming enough; the self defense program will be great but adding swimming for an overall strength and cardiovascular fitness is unbeatable. Good luck and I look forward to seeing the health and confidence improvements in both of you. 👏👏👏👏
Hey Betty! Thanks for getting in touch, we are finding the swimming really difficult, Sarah is taking better to it than I am... It is the coordinating the breathing while not drinking gallons of water at the same time that I struggle with. Good on you for learning that too at a later age and we're really sorry to hear that the ankle has slowed you down, hope you get back to it soon. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Learning swimming at such an older age as I did, I quickly learned that the coordination required was much more than I was anticipating. Two words: swim coach (if you can find one). TH-cam videos are great for a lot of things but I believe only an in person coach can teach you the basics. You need to learn these correctly and then TH-cam can help with adding to your training. As far as breathing and not swallowing water, you might want to learn the back stroke. Good luck on your adventure of learning swimming; you won’t be disappointed.
wow guys, congratulations - good luck with Ur next year, looking forward to seeing Ur progress, Ur missin very hot weather back in blighty & nothing else- really stupid prices for petrol, food, gas & electric xx v
Hey Veronica! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! We are not missing that hot weather one bit lol! We talk to family and are very thankful every day that our apartment here in Chiang Mai has Air Conditioning in 3 rooms.... But we do miss blighty for sure! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
In so many ways this new change in your life will be great for your health and confidence and outlook 😊 Be positive and don’t let the downs stop you 👍 Michael
Hey Michael! Really appreciate the comment, yes this will be so different for us but great that we can really focus on what is important. Hope you enjoy watching the change! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Caroline! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Oh great idea. I’m from Wales but live near Rayong, I wondered how long you would end up staying in Thailand. We haven’t been to Chiangmai so we really enjoyed the vid out and about there.🙃🙏
Hey Philip! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Well if you get to Chiang Mai in the next year, be sure to look us up! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Wow! What a decision and congratulations on taking the leap - we are both very happy for you. Dropping two bombs in one video, not only about the new fitness routine but also that as a result you will be staying in Chang Mai for a year - didn't see that one coming! One question..............How are you getting around the 3 month tourist visa? Looking forward to following this next part of your journey.
Hey Craig! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. Next weeks video answers this one, hope you like it, might give you some ideas! If you guys ever fancy a video call, just let us know. Would love to catch up. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I’m super excited for you both 💖. I had commented that you looked like crap (when Sarah was sick) so I hope that my honesty helped. Looking forward to learning about emergency self defence. Cool! (Just stay away from injecting that stuff & wearing coffee filters- a lot of ppl are getting sick. Taking a year to recover is awesome 👏 well done!) truly appreciate your thoughtfulness toward this step… feels right to me. I miss travel so so much but it’s not worth dying for. 🙏
Hey C M! Really appreciate the comment! Don't worry we are just going to be getting healthy, no injections or anything silly... that just isn't us. Cool for you to get in touch, really good support thank you. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Excited to watch your adventures over the next year. I'm sure after a year on the to it'll be a nice opportunity to form a routine and get a little deeper into what it would be like to make this your long term destination.
Hey Janell! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Yes we are going to learn more about ourselves and what we want from life than we covered in this video. Will be really interesting for us to learn for sure! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I feel awful that I was just eating a big sweet American doughnut as I watched this. :-( I was so fit when I was in Bali for a month, swimming, walking and eating light food. Congratulations on committing to a challenge and I hope that the transformation is a wondrous journey.
Hey Seeya! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Hope you enjoy what you see... we are going to discover a lot about ourselves for sure. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hi Neil and Sarah I was concerned for you in Chiang Mai as I know what a struggle constant travel can be having done that for around 14 years up until 8 yrs ago. Hence the suggestion for a medical and WFPB. I restarted WFPB, 6 weeks ago. Already lost 4kg and vital signs so much better. Transitioning the first 8 weeks can be a challenge but together I know you will thrive on being plant powered. I suggest Chef AJ online - her advice to "keep to the left of the red line" is revolutionary. My coach says aim for 95% compliance. 80% of health is nutrition and diet. "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food". Delighted you will be in the country for the next year! I first travelled here 31 years ago and now based here full time. Take care and chok dee krub
Hey Daydreamer! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! *** Firstly - Sarah, can you do the research on this one *** Little note to ourselves there. Really cool... loving Chiang Mai now too. Appreciate the advice! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Lisa! Thanks so much for getting in touch and dropping us a comment. It really helps! Hope you enjoy what you see, we are nervous be with the support of you all, we will make it happen! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Calico! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Yes please don't worry about us, we are doing great. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Congratulations on taking such a positive undertaking. I can’t wait to follow your journey. Must admit…the meat-free, alcohol-free were the biggest surprises! You’ve got this, Mitchells!
Hey GoWithLess! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! The alcohol free one will be a stretch for sure but we think we could so something with the meat free... but we will see, that is what this year is about, learning and growing. Enjoy your cruises! See you soon! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Ahajacobs! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! We love being in a position where we can try and do things to help others try for themselves one day. Hope you like the way this goes, we are excited and nervous! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Good for you all! A lot of change to take on. If you haven't read it, may I suggest Atomic Habits by James Clear, you might find helpful. Love your videos!
Hey GLB! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! I have read the sample and thanks for the reminder, I need to get back to that one... thank you! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Un Amigo! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I heard this story from a Les Brown video from about a decade ago, a bit different iteration but with a dog in the same situation as the prime element of the story. Very strong message or I would never remember it.
Hey M Adams! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! I was getting to a point where I thought I had dreamed it 30 odd years ago. A great message isn't it. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Ashley! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. You know we are planning to do a behind the scenes video for Patreon... well you will hopefully see in there now we come up with those daft ideas and then the work it takes to put them into action. For that one, we discussed that we had to do it in one take as Neil having a wet stick in his mouth covered in sand wasn't too appealing. We have an interesting time ahead eh! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Thea! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! Yes we are going to try being in a single location for a while as we focus on our health. Fun times! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
This is awesome! The year will fly by and you will be so proud of yourselves! So on a different subject, I saw you two in another TH-camr's video. It was in Lake Chapala. I was excited to see this as I truly value your opinions on destinations, BUT you never made a video in that area. What did you think about that area? Love the content and good luck on your health journey!!
Hey Unexpected Good Luck! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Joanne! Great comment, thank you and appreciate you getting in touch. We are going to go for it we really are!!! When we start something, we never quit which can be a good and bad thing! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
This video really hit home with me....I'm also the dog. You two are so inspiring! I've been thinking about starting my own channel for years and I finally posted my first videos last week. I hope to develop into the type of content you share = travel/finance/early retirement. I'm "Amazing Places with Amy". Thanks!! Keep up the great work :)
Hey Amy! Really appreciate the comment, just checked out your channel... You should go for it, if you need any help or advice, just let us know! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Scooter hint: get some knee and elbow pads. Cheap insurance to keep you safe! A hemelt, also of course. But the helmet is obvious. Please do get knee and elbow pads. Also some gloves. You don't need to spend a lot of money here. A $2 pair of gloves from you local hardware store will protect you pretty well.
Hey J R! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! That is good advice, we have looked for pads and so far not been successful but we do need to prioritise this thank you. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Kirsten! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! Also, so pleased we make you laugh :-) we like to have fun. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Hey Karen! Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! We absolutely love it here in Chiang Mai, this will be a year to remember for us! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
Oh… I miss my Spectrum… Awesome decision on your fitness. Looking forward to the before and after photos of your physical transformations. A year in Chang Mai sounds amazing! Edit: if you’re staying put for a year, most likely you’ll be renting a place for the year for cost effectiveness. Going back to your last video… How do you plan to avoid lifestyle creep, the buying of stuff to improve your lifestyle in the year you’re there? Also how do you plan to overcome the lack of inertia and move on at the end of the year?
Great news! My wife and I are happy to hear you'll enjoy Thailand for a whole year all the while taking care of yourselves. In essence, isn't that what retirement should be? 😊
Hey Mike! Thank you for taking the time to comment, it helps us loads and we hope you continue to enjoy and follow our journey! You are absolutely right, we need to look after ourselves and also grow and enjoy life in retirement. Best wishes Neil & Sarah
I think this is great. You two have TH-cam to report to do it should help keep you motivated. Could you tell me what visa worked to allow you to stay for so long?
@@anothercheryladventure9387 yep probably the thai educational/student visa for 90 days extendable to a year. Must attend regular martial arts, language, etc type approved courses, also only need about $800 returnable deposit in approved account. A not so well known cheaper long term visa workaround avoiding the large deposit for the retirement visa
Hi All, We have had a lot of questions about this so we are going to focus next weeks video on answering these questions! Note that it is slightly different to the visa that Emperor Gong mentions here. Should be interesting to walk though. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
So much to say, I’m 66 in November and my fitness has gone downhill since i stopped playing football at 27! That said i thought at first you were indeed going to say you have found a ‘new home’ in Thailand, this type of course, well the proof will be in one year i guess. For me Thai Chi or Pilates would be my thoughts and im trying to do a lazy Keto diet right now, but have cut back my alcohol in the past month, due to general illness myself & high blood sugar level. Anyways, im going to Phuket 11th October for 6 weeks, so who knows….. we may even meet up.
Hey Tbjdiamonddog! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. Yes we needed to do something and there are many options out there. This will stretch us mentally and physically and sounds you are going through similar challenges. That is cool to see you facing it head on too, please do keep us up to date with your progress. Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Hey Collin! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. We are more nervous that looking forward to it, but it should prove really interesting for sure! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
@@2GoRoam In the beginning, as with any form of exercise, it would be tough, to say the least. You may have coordination trouble but if you persevere you will gain proficiency and mastery. Make sure to "warm up'" and stretch properly before you begin your sessions. Take care.
Always a pleasure to watch as well as inspiring. This is a surprise. With it being so hot and humid there, I’m not sure why you would pic that destination to stay the longest? Did you have personal safety concerns previously in your travels? The training sounds like something I would love but is it creating a sustainable way to live and travel with wellness? I’m not knocking any of it but just wanted to understand more of the logic in the change of direction. Good luck and thank you for your videos👍
Hey Tony! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Due to questions like yours we are going to follow up on this next Saturday to provide more details... this is a really good question and we will include that in the video! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
I bey you'll give up begore that becausr you learned thr lessons well. I am very happy to see you understood funally how important it is to prevent being sick. It is cheaper.
Hey Heidi! Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Well lets see how we get on, we are going to have ups and downs this year for sure! Oh yes... cheaper too!!! Best regards, Neil & Sarah
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
@@MadeNCda hi Kate, I'm doing good on that side of things I'm glad you are going well too, it's a harrowing time for sure
Thanks for your kindness.
Hey Valerie and Kate,
Firstly thank you for sharing but secondly we admire you both. Great to see such a positive conversation on what is one of the most terrifying situations that us humans hope never to have to undergo.
Kate and Valerie, we are proud of you both and your strength. You are both an inspiration.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
It's probably a money saver to stay in one place a little longer too. My Best friend's wife really reminds me of Sarah. She is 5 ft tall and a little spitfire. She has been doing aerobics and kick boxing for 4 years now and she is like solid muscle. She is in amazing shape for 53. Exercise may not make you live longer but it generally makes the quality of your life better.
Hey Dodger Blue!
Really appreciate the comment, Sarah is over the moon to hear that she will be solid muscle if she goes the way of your friend! But I am a little nervous at that prospect lol!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Best regards,

@@2GoRoam I think the key was that we did it together, so you've already got that in your favor. : )
100%, thanks Mel!

Neil and Sarah are truly a lovely couple with a great attitude. We're lucky to have them join our Emergency Self-Defense course 🙏!
Best regards,

Just discovered you on TH-cam and now plan on working through your back catalogue. I tumble into being 56 next month and definitely working hard on the financial side so we can retire early and travel. Great stuff
Hey Rob!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Welcome, it's great to have you here... you have to be careful with the tumbling now you are getting older :-) We are working on a new financial series for the channel that will be starting to come out in the next few months, we hope you find that helpful.

Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
I love your British sense of humor. I started weight training at 44 and it really takes months or even years of workouts, fasting and drinking protein shakes to get from (grand)dad's body to a somehow ripped physique. The problem compared to younger folks is how quickly we can hurt our joints or tear tendons and how slowly the damaged tissue heals. Still good luck with your plans!
Hey Geeky!
Thanks for getting in touch as ever. Oh we know... I really did my hip in on the class last week... the pain! But we aren't deterred! :-)

Neil & Sarah
Life is about growing and adapting to change regardless of age- or so I have read! You are in an amazing part of our world. I loved Chang Mai, its people, culture and environs. It is a good location to take on a new challenge of personal/internal growth. What I admire most about you two is your flexibility and courage to take on new challenges and really work at it! Thank you for including all of us and bringing us along too!!! Gordon

I look forward to seeing your new journeys in Thailand and improved fitness, I'm proud of you guys !!!!! Health is Wealth !

Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Yes what we eat is so important and we are taking that very seriously now. We are loving Chiang Mai and could certainly settle here full time when we are much older. Thank you for the kind words Bill!

Great vlog. Very funny. Our bones are aching already. It will be fabulous fun all wrapped up with lots of travel. Such a great experience. Well done.

@@2GoRoam you will be fine. Only good things ahead.
I need a beer just thinking about it :-)
Good on you for making the choices that are best for you.

Way to church up the look with the collared shirt, Neil. Of course, Sarah always looks delightful. 🇹🇭
Hey Scott!
Looking good in a shirt eh Scott! There is a practical reason I did that, all to do with the Mic's we use. Sarah always lets me down by looking better :-)
Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy!

Best regards,
Neil & Sarah

Thank you.

All the best in your new phase! XX Dara
Hey Dara!
Thanks for getting in touch, I don't think anyone works out in Liverpool! :-)
Yes well this will be a different phase for us but really exciting as well as a little scary at the same time.

P.S. I have definite opinions about the typical Scouser physique, but I think I will keep those to myself 😉
Hi Guys hope you are both well. Good idea of yours getting a self defense course,. Take it nice and slow and it will see you into a healthy old age. We worry about our health so we don't become a burden on our kids in our later years. Food is also how we age, so less stodge is good.

If you're staying in Chiang Mai for a year, this would be a great opportunity to really do a deep dive into it. Many TH-camrs are there for a month or so and only show the popular spots. But you could seek out little-known places around town worth visiting.

Fitness is important indeed, and intense physical activity is great not only for fitness, but to get better sleep and having better mood. And now that you've announced it so officially on TH-cam you have an obligation do it for a year! Don't deceive us. 😆
How is the visa situation in Thailand? Do you need to go around the border every month to get a new tourist visa or are you applying for another type of visa?
Hey Isabelle!
Thanks for getting in touch, we have had a lot of questions about visa since this video came out so we are focusing next weeks video on answering those. Hopefully that will clear things up for you here. We won't deceive!

@@2GoRoam looking forward to it! Have a great training :)
Thank you!
A lot to unpack here too :-)
Before we retired, thinking maybe the 5 years before we retired, we started to just naturally eat less meat, it wasn't something we ever discussed in fact it just happened, I (Neil) am the chef of the family and at the time just felt I could get more flavours out of the vegetables than out of meat.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Salud!
So happy for you guys! Meat free and alcohol free will make such a huge difference! Can't wait to watch the next year

Loving your support, great to have you in our inner circle over on Patreon, thank you so much.

Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Learning swimming at such an older age as I did, I quickly learned that the coordination required was much more than I was anticipating. Two words: swim coach (if you can find one). TH-cam videos are great for a lot of things but I believe only an in person coach can teach you the basics. You need to learn these correctly and then TH-cam can help with adding to your training. As far as breathing and not swallowing water, you might want to learn the back stroke. Good luck on your adventure of learning swimming; you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you Betty! This is really helpful... we will try to seek out a teacher.

Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Excited to watch your adventures over the next year. I'm sure after a year on the to it'll be a nice opportunity to form a routine and get a little deeper into what it would be like to make this your long term destination.
Hey Janell!
Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Yes we are going to learn more about ourselves and what we want from life than we covered in this video. Will be really interesting for us to learn for sure!
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
I feel awful that I was just eating a big sweet American doughnut as I watched this. :-( I was so fit when I was in Bali for a month, swimming, walking and eating light food. Congratulations on committing to a challenge and I hope that the transformation is a wondrous journey.
sounds very exiting. a health retreat for a year in Chiang Mai. will follow the journey : )
Hey Seeya!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Hope you enjoy what you see... we are going to discover a lot about ourselves for sure.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Hi Neil and Sarah
I was concerned for you in Chiang Mai as I know what a struggle constant travel can be having done that for around 14 years up until 8 yrs ago.

Congratulations on taking such a positive undertaking. I can’t wait to follow your journey. Must admit…the meat-free, alcohol-free were the biggest surprises! You’ve got this, Mitchells!
Hey GoWithLess!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment!
The alcohol free one will be a stretch for sure but we think we could so something with the meat free... but we will see, that is what this year is about, learning and growing.
Enjoy your cruises! See you soon!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Change is in the air. It will be a great year for you both.

Good for you all! A lot of change to take on. If you haven't read it, may I suggest Atomic Habits by James Clear, you might find helpful. Love your videos!

Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Catch that stick Neil! Congratulations on your epic health journey… You were going to be inspiration for us all!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Exercise is important. Great decision.
Looking forward to the transformation! You can do it!
Hey Luvlivefoods!
Thanks so much for getting in touch and dropping us a comment. It really helps!

I’m so excited for you! I looking forward to watching your journey and progress!
You 2 are crazy! One year is a long commitment you will be so fit.
You two are so fun! Have you heard of exercise bands? Easy to pack and fun to use!
You are both inspiring and love watching your videos.
Hey Unexpected Good Luck!
Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy!

Wow! Very cool! I hope you can pull it off.
Hey Joanne!
Great comment, thank you and appreciate you getting in touch. We are going to go for it we really are!!! When we start something, we never quit which can be a good and bad thing!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
This video really hit home with me....I'm also the dog. You two are so inspiring! I've been thinking about starting my own channel for years and I finally posted my first videos last week. I hope to develop into the type of content you share = travel/finance/early retirement. I'm "Amazing Places with Amy". Thanks!! Keep up the great work :)
Hey Amy!
Really appreciate the comment, just checked out your channel... You should go for it, if you need any help or advice, just let us know!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Scooter hint: get some knee and elbow pads. Cheap insurance to keep you safe! A hemelt, also of course. But the helmet is obvious. Please do get knee and elbow pads. Also some gloves. You don't need to spend a lot of money here. A $2 pair of gloves from you local hardware store will protect you pretty well.
Hey J R!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! That is good advice, we have looked for pads and so far not been successful but we do need to prioritise this thank you.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
How exciting! I'm looking forward to watching what you do next. Neil you crack me up 😆
Hey Kirsten!

Excellent decision, your health is your wealth and where better to change your lifestyle than Chang Mai! Have fun!
Hey Karen!
Thank you for the kind comment, every engagement we get on our videos helps us in more ways than you can likely imagine. Hope you continue to enjoy! We absolutely love it here in Chiang Mai, this will be a year to remember for us!
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Oh… I miss my Spectrum…
Awesome decision on your fitness.
Best wishes
Neil & Sarah
Such a nice twist to your story. You guys are so real. Great decision.
I think this is great. You two have TH-cam to report to do it should help keep you motivated. Could you tell me what visa worked to allow you to stay for so long?
I’d like to know that too. Maybe a student visa?
@@anothercheryladventure9387 yep probably the thai educational/student visa for 90 days extendable to a year. Must attend regular martial arts, language, etc type approved courses, also only need about $800 returnable deposit in approved account. A not so well known cheaper long term visa workaround avoiding the large deposit for the retirement visa
Hi All,
We have had a lot of questions about this so we are going to focus next weeks video on answering these questions!
Note that it is slightly different to the visa that Emperor Gong mentions here. Should be interesting to walk though.
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Impressive! I look forward to your martial journey.
Hey Collin!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment as ever. We are more nervous that looking forward to it, but it should prove really interesting for sure!
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Best regards,
Neil & Sarah
Woah! 1 year?! Very dedicated! Plus I bet those changes will translate to good savings in the bottom line?!

Hey Kit!
Thanks for getting in touch as ever! We are nervous and excited... who knows how this will go!

Hey Heidi!
Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a comment! Well lets see how we get on, we are going to have ups and downs this year for sure!
Oh yes... cheaper too!!!
